3000 to Charlton is a good following for Wednesday but defo not standard for them, more like wanking material seen has though they all cock waving over attendances, a standard following would be around 2000 for Wednesday imo.

Exactly. Walkleys pissed again

Nah I've seen us take a similar number there before so it's not unexpected. Quality numbers from Brum btw.

I was at Fulham yesterday, absolutely cracking day and a decent following for a change. It's bizarre, we can take 4k to Fulham but will only take 2 to places like Charlton/QPR which are just as good days out IMO.

Fulham are such a cuddly club aren't they, lovely and cosy even when you've just smashed them 5!!! :D

We sold our full allocation of 2k at Forest.
There would a handful who decided to stay in the pub or got arrested beforehand I am sure, but 2k tickets were sold.

We were only ' given' 2k by our friends in the east ..

We could've filled their stadium for them ... :bdick:

That Reading following is absolutely abysmal.

Strange, been seeing it as 1500 unofficially pretty much everywhere. Cardiff fans reckoned it was about that much too.

That said, everyone seems to assume we'll take loads to Cardiff, it's still a 2 hour trip. This weekend was impossible to get to via trains as there was bus replacements along most of the route. If we took 1166 to Birmingham every one would not be so critical, and it's basically the same distance.

Plus we go there every season.. There is something that can be said away attendance wise for stadiums you regularly go to and those you rarely go to.

Does it?

All I see is a theme of how shit/good either team is doing.

Pretty sure forest generally have a better away following than derby. Sure someone will have the figures from over the years to prove that right.

In the years I've been going it's been the case, Derby have picked up in the last 18 months but consistently I'd rate Forest higher.

Don't get me wrong, I've only been watching football a decade and I'm sure you and others have much more grounds to comment but from what I've seen it's swings and roundabouts. It was the "piss all over" comment that I disagree with, when they have had better support it's normally a case of 100's rather than 1000's, like it is currently thanks to our upturn in form.

We were better last year unsurprisingly, maybe the season before too. Then as you go back our support declines, Forest's was higher. Probably due to 5 dull Clough seasons for us and a promotion and a couple of play off finishes for them. Just seems to mirror teams' form, both have got an alright core away support matching the size of said clubs. Forest a little bit better away, us being better at home.

Forest haven't been in the top flight since the late 90s but consistently averaged close to 2k away, Derby haven't been near that until the last couple of years, as you say form fluctuates the figures so maybe I'm a tad harsh.

If you go on the last 10 years in the football league. Leeds are obviously far ahead but id guess then you would get wednesday, forest, wolves then behind that probably us and derby.

For clarity :

Wolves v Hull (sky Sunday) 593
Wolves v QPR (Wed) 765
Wolves v Charlton (Sat) 653
Wolves v Brighton (Sat) 1,069
Wolves v Huddersfield (Sky Sat) 458
Wolves v Brentford (Wed) 275
Wolves v Boro (Sat) 1,662

Derby v Charlton (Sat) 818
Derbt v Boro (Tues) 2,237
Derby v Leeds (sky Sat) 2,335
Derby v Burnley (Sky Mon) 592
Derby v Brentford (Sat) 808
Derby v Wolves (Sky Sun) 1,391
Derby v Rotherham (Sat) 1,388

Apologies Rammy you have had 3 on Sky.

The poor away support at Wolves is puzzling. The suggestion that Wolverhampton is gash is a bit illogical: it's not any worse than it was in previous years. Whether it is worse as an awayday than Derby's Ikea stadium, hard up against a Frankie & Benny's and a Land Rover dealer, is debatable but probably also irrelevant: it hasn't stopped away support in numbers in the past.

I may well be wrong, but it looks to me as if both the number of home fans and the number of away fans is down at Molineux. ( I can't be arsed to spend time looking for Jose's previous seasons tables). There seem to be less home fans than when we were bungee-jumping out of the Championship three seasons ago, and less even then we had in League 1. Of the table above, only the Boro turnout is comparable: almost 2,200 went to Derby on a Tuesday night, yet only 1,700 were prepared to travel a further 44 miles on a Saturday. That's a big drop. (or was it that that was the maximum allocation and both places were sold out?)

I would have thought away fans might actually be encouraged to turn up by the dire state of this season's Wolves team. Maybe some people are right (can't find the comments, maybe it was in another thread) that the attack on the Watford fan has put people off coming to Molineux. That would be a bigger indictment of the city than any commentary in a Bottom Five listing or Trip Advisor review.
