If we play like we did against Liverpool we might get something here but Chelsea are a lot better than Liverpool and actually pose an attacking threat. I don't think it'll be as much as a goalfest as last time because we have improved a lot defensively in recent weeks but we'll do well to get something out of the game.

I want Cuadrado to start. Very unlikely though given Willian's performances but worth trying.

Our next 6 league fixtures.
Everton H
Burnley H
West Ham A
Southampton H
Hull A
Stoke H

Looking for 14-16 points from that lot.

Chelsea win. I'll go for a 3-0. Really want to see Cuadrado play.

Chelsea to win 2-0. I'd like us to start with Oviedo & Lennon on the wings as we'll need their work rate to help with Willian/Cuadrado and Hazard, then bring on Mirallas later on

If we do play the 4-3-3 with three central players then I hope Naismith doesn't start because as Saturday showed, that formation really doesn't bring out the best in him.

I'd have him on the bench. Think McCarthy might also be benched as a precaution

Yeah it'll be a big ask for McCarthy to play 90 minutes again but with no game for 8 days after Chelsea he might be risked.

Making goonerz cry
Think this is a defining moment in our season....I reckon City will drop points at Stoke so a win here will put one hand on the title.

2 wins and a draw without Costa represents a good return. 3-1 Chelsea.

Martinez talking like Howard is going to come straight back in. Any confidence I had of nicking a draw, or keeping it tight and nicking a last minute winner have just gone. Wont be happy at all if he comes back in, his form has been absolutely terrible this season, and he needed dropping long before he picked up an injury on Boxing Day. Joel had a slow start while he got used to the defenders in front of him (who werent doing him any favours...) and has since looked comfortable and confident. He actually catches crosses!

I agree with Smally on playing Oviedo and Lennon out wide, half because Mirallas has been awful since that pen miss at West Brom, basically like he wants out, didnt get it and is now having a sulk, and because I think Garbutt is a better left back than Oviedo. I think Oviedo is better going forward than defending, so having him on the wing, and Garbutt behind him would be better I think. Other than that, if McCarthy is fit enough to play again, Id stick with that same central 3, and then you've got the likes of Barkley, Mirallas and Naismith to come on if the chance is there to go for it a bit more late on.

McGeady is injured now as well so he'll play no part which I can't help thinking is a good thing. I hope Baines is back.

Fancy us to nick a point.
Regards to Howard I got the impression Martinez meant back in the squad for this game not necessarily the starting line up? I would be disappointed to see Howard come straight as Robles has done well over the last few weeks. I expect we will see McCarthy but I doubt Baines will be fit to start.

I really hope Howard doesn't come straight back in, Robles has kept as many clean sheets in his last 3 games as Howard has all season. Robles should ask to leave if he's dropped

Everton set up and played for a draw against us at home, so I can only imagine what they're going to do away against the league leaders. Is it possible for a team to have more than 11 men behind the ball?

Won't make a difference though, 2-0 for Chelsea.

Just had a glance on Everton Results, and it seems our last win at Stamford Bridge in the League was on my 9th birthday...good times.

Sounds like someone's a bit upset Everton could defend well against them but we're awful going forward.

Still expect a defeat tonight, hopefully we can nick something. Martinez will hopefully leave Howard on the bench, if he's back in goal then I expect quite a few of our players won't be happy, likes of Oviedo, Gibson, Pienaar, Kone, Robles knowing that no matter how they play when the manager's favourite is back they will be dropped

Cech; Ivanovic, Zouma, Terry, Azpilicueta; Ramires, Matic; Cuadrado, Willian, Hazard; Remy.

Can't wait to see how Cuadrado does.

Amazed it's still 0-0, even more amazed we've had 3 shots. Lukaku playing with his back to goal too much and should be looking to spin behind Terry & Zouma. Can see McCarthy on for Besic at half time
