I was impressed how Skrtel simply indicated a "what the fuck was that?", then just stood up and forgot about it, even helping Costa to his feet. There are numerous players who would have rolled around making out they'd been mule-kicked for a couple of minutes, and I have no doubt it would have increased the chances of Costa being dismissed. In a way Costa can thank Skrtel for not making a bigger deal of it, it likely played a part in Clattenburg taking no action despite it being a blatant red card. You need only look at Costa pretending Skrtel elbowed him in the face earlier in the game to know it's not how he'd have dealt with it if the situation was reversed.
