Thought we pretty much bossed the game but lacked a cutting edge.we desperately need more stacking threat but McCall and the owners are working hard on this and i expect three at least probably four new additions by the end of the transfer window Vale i thought were poor

Well I'm afraid that says as much about your lot as it does about us if you have been unable to beat a 'poor' side

We made 9 debutants over the 90 minutes so never going to be up to speed but sounds like we comfortably dealt with their threat and hopefully we can make the attacking signings we need.

We were decent in first half and should have gone in at least 1 ahead but we were poor in second. We need to spend money on someone who can convert chances. We really should have been winning games like today.

Early days for Vale but can only agree that they were below average and in all honesty didn't look any different to the mid-table fodder they usually show up with for all their talk of being new and exciting.

It's the start of the season. We had 6 debutants today. Plus people playing out of position and covering because of injuries and general lack of bodies. I bet a lot of teams will be in the same boat, doesn't make much of a difference.

Will take time to bed in. We had players out of position with Kiko out and are expecting to sign a proven league one scorer in the next week or so. To go to Bradford put in a solid enough performance to get a 0-0 (and nearly nick it at the end) is a decent start.

Won't judge us until we've completed our signings and played more than 1 game with a whole new set of players.

Would take mid table this season with the changes we have made.

Considering we couldn't even field a full subs bench, the bench we did have had two youth teamers and we gave a CM his senior debut I thought we did ok. Should have had a lead going into HT and how Hanson mucked up his header in the second half I'll never know.

What was Vales number 9 called? Hope you're not pinning your hopes on him. Looked like a Sunday league player.

Of course you would. If you can make predictions like that, pick me 6 numbers for the lottery tonight will you?

I wasn't there, but I believe that they were pretty non-existent for the most part

Devine looked really good in midfield, probably the best centre mid on the field for both sides. Well played to him.

Law needs to work on his decision making, crapped himself every time he got in their box.

Okay, I'll bite.

Have you ever relayed information on from a reputable source, y'know, such as the club themselves?

Why take he piss when I've only quoted what club officials have stated?

Anyway, we absolutely bossed that game, barring the last half hour. A lot of players haven't had much game time, and I felt it showed in the latter stages.

Good point for Vale - we could've, and probably should've been out of sight in the first half, as Vale offered absolutely nothing.

The fact that this will arguably be our weekest starting XI of the season, given injuries etc, bodes well enough for me not to panic yet.

With three more additions arriving shortly, and with key players coming back, I'm relatively positive on the back of a poor game overall.

If we'd had Messi we'd have won... You hadn't hence irrelevant.

Number 9 is Cicilia... We're getting a proven scorer sorted so won't be resting hopes on him but needs game time was his first competitive game in England along with De Freitas, Tavares, Mbamba, Perera and Knops so won't happen overnight.

Happy with the point.
Awful game overall with a very similar Vale performance to many last season, we seemed happy to play for a point from the start, yet could've nicked the win at the end. Smurf wants a proven goalscorer in, not a lot of point if we don't create the chances for him to score.
Hopefully we'll get better as all the new players get used to each other, but from what I've seen so far it's going to be a long hard season for us.

All the talk of ' this isn't our full strength side ' malarkey is irrelevant on the opening day. We've got a few players out of position and not fully fit too but that's life.

Bradford were always going to come out positive in the first half in front of a big crowd. We seemed to surrender possession a little too easily and cicilia was struggling on his own. Having said that, Bradford were reduced to a lot of half chances except for the one that hit the bar.
Second half I thought we came into it more without ever really looking like scoring, apart from a couple of half chances in the last ten minutes . In my opinion it was a good, solid away performance, not leaving ourselves too open and solid at the back. It's the mistake we made time and again last season, trying to play for a draw but without the organisation to carry it out. It was the sensible approach in my opinion due to all the debuts.
Lots of Bradford fans saying how poor we were. It's the first game of the season, with 6 mainly foreign debutants in our team, I didn't expect us to be Barcelona. I think we've got some technically good players and once up to speed with the English game, we'll be OK.
As for Bradford, it seemed like groundhog day, lots of bluster and crosses into the box with little end product and an over reliance on Hanson. I thought you ran out of creative ideas long before the end. At least you are starting to utilise Marshall, he's a good little player. A better focal striker, I'm sure you don't need telling, would make all the difference, but how many are around and available?

To be honest if my side had only 1 shot on target at home id be less concerned with how good or bad the opposition are on the day and worried about my own side... Alright saying you need a good striker another thing to get one. (And we are also in the same boat on that).

Mbamba should have won it though at the end looking at highlights. Pleased for Smith sounds like he was stand out for us and looks set to become to top defender, not easy to make your first league start against a physical lump like Hanson against a side notorious for the aerial ball.

Chuffed to hear we defended corners so well for a change too!

all this we should of been out of sight ? neither keeper made a save of any note. Bradford 1 on target , Vale 2 ( which i don,t recall ) .
For Bradford they need to offload Hanson, the amount of hoofs that went out for goal kicks was embarrasing. Bradford were bang average last year and how made play-offs is one of lifes mysteries. Saturday was 2 average or below average teams finding their feet.
Anyway it is out of the way, becoming a tedious game now, sick of going there and sure they are likewise with us.
Positives, Smith, Knopps, Tavares, clean sheet against huge monstrous club.
Negatives, offered nowt as an attacking threat whatsoever.

I am very happy. We go again .

Poor game with a lack of quality, but a cracking defensive performance from our side and a decent and just about deserved point. Bradford huffed and puffed and had a lot of possession but I barely remember our keeper having anything more than a few routine saves to make. All this nonsense about Bradford being out of sight by half-time is exactly that!, nonsense! Delusional. The longer the game went on the more we looked likely to pinch the 3 points, but in fairness that would have been a bit of a smash and grab and a point is a decent start with plenty of positives to build on.

We certainly need to improve going forward but that will come the more the players get used to each other. Streete and Smith were rock solid, new boy Knops did ever so well seeing as he's not a left-back and in midfield Grant was the boss he usually is once he shifted up through the gears and was arguably the best player on the pitch.
