Grimsby in relatively poor form with no win in last 4, Stags in very good form (if you discount Tuesday's bizarre 4-4 draw against Stanley) still unbeaten in 2017. Nailed-on home win then. Accy had scored 1 in their last 8 away games I believe. Anything could happen here, hope it's a good atmos with 1000+ Stags. Outcome 1-1 I think.

Been there 3 times 0-2, 2-7 and 1-4

It's a hard one to choose, I didn't expect us to win successive away games at Cambridge and Barnet, but it seems the way Evans sets up at home, we're better away on the break.

Should be there for about 11.30.

Interesting to remember how poor we were in the 0-1 home loss under Murray to how we are now. I'd expect that they all received a rollocking from Evans Wednesday morning conceding 4 won't have gone down well.

Still, conceding 4 and playing badly while still finding a way not to lose was impressive in itself, even though annoying. It should have provided quite a wakeup call for the lads

I remember the 1 - 4 game you speak about and you were absolutely hopeless that day, we really should have won by 6 or 7 and I remember thinking at the time you would end up finishing mid table bottom half you were that bad.
Fast forward 8 months and Mansfield are then crowned Champions of the Conference.

We'd conceded 14 goals in 5 games by then, we then conceded 38 in the next 41!

The performance that day was diabolical, and correct - you could and should have doubled the 4 you scored that day.

I'm fearing a first Mansfield win at BP since 1987 on Saturday. I'm still not overly convinced that MB knows his best team and what he's actually doing to be honest. 0-2 for me with Mr Evans being ejected from the ground again like when he came here with Boston. The 7-2 a couple of seasons before that 4-1 game was pretty decent too!

Really hope I'm wrong though.

The 0-0 inbeteween the 7-2 and 4-1 was even worse. Freezing cold, about 5 shots in the whole game (All for Grimsby) some fat skank spilt her pint on me pre match, Even the Grimsby fans said she was a mess and then some lads chased our car and smashed the side window on the way home. Epic

I still remember the words of my former Cleethorpes squeezes Mariners supporting old man, back in the nineties
- "Mansfield has a football team do they?"

Bah, wimmin and their bloomin dads.

I bet £10 on us to win on Tuesday, £10 on us to win by 2 or more goals, and £10 in a bet with Luton and Carlisle (who both won and had we won i'd have earned £490).

We were 2-0 down after 6 minutes

Yes, yes indeed.

Don't normally do so, but Accrington appeared to be so nailed on it was hard to ignore.

Not as bad as the guy on fb who put £2,500 on Plymouth to beat Leyton Orient :brill:

Weird thing about our new formation is that we definitely have the players for it but it's just not clicking yet. Not entirely sure what we played on Tuesday so I don't know how we'll line up tomorrow. I don't think it's a nailed on away win though, we're a pretty damn good team when we want to be. Obviously we've not scored a lot since Omar left but I wouldn't read too much into that, we had baron spells even when he was here. I think the players Bignot's brought in have it in them to make up the goals. Looking forward to seeing us progress tomorrow.

Never expect anything to be easy anymore, Tuesday night proved that. It bought us back down to earth abit that one but I expect Evans to get a reaction tomorrow. I think he will stick with the same team as they have been playing well.

Betting against your own team can be quite lucrative though.

2 seasons ago I bet on the opposition every week, mostly on the result, the occasional draw no bet on games where I wasn't as sure we'd lose.

I made a fortune that season. More than paid for my season ticket the following year.

Personally would like to see Coulthirst dropped, also still not 100% sure on that formation, it's basically 4-1-3-2 but only one winger and two centre midfielders which makes it a bit unbalanced.

Where's decent for away fans to drink GY fans? On the coach and with torn ankle ligaments I can't walk very far and just seen we are apparently not welcome in that one across the road anymore.

There's nothing really within hobbling distance of the ground anymore apart from The Blundell Park Hotel but I've been in there a few times this season and you usually get some away fans in there. Apart from that your best bet is Cleethorpes High Street/Market Place area but that's a good 15 minute walk.

I've had some great nights in Cleethorpes, albeit twenty years ago. We used to crash at my mates sisters on Rutland Street, in Grimsby, or I'd stop over at the squeezes on Thrunscoe Road. On the crawl would be: The Dolly (and the little place next door which I always forget), The Sub, Bootleggers, Baton Rouge, O'Neills, Fiddler, Willys, crap clubs JD and Park Lane. Preferably Pier 39, where a favourite of the bouncers (after queuing in a freezing cold half hour) would be "sorry lads, no Yorkshire" our accents sort of giving us away. You'd reply "we're Nottinghamshire" and they'd say "that's worse." You learned to shut up and stop chatting to local totty in queues.

We even joined the Working Men's Club.
I bet half of those places no longer exist?

Made some good pals up there, for a few years. Grimsby folks are great and always reminded me more of Mansfield folk than anywhere else. Probably because both towns are ill-judged by snobs. Proper dyed in the wool working class folks.

The Baton Rouge is now a Wetherspoons pub, The Coliseum Picture House and O'Neills is no more and The Dolphin is now one of those Smokehouse restaurant/pubs. JD's is now a block of flats and there's still a club where Park Lane was but it's called something different now. and Pier39 is now a restaurant. Clee Working Mens Club is still there though, I had a pool match there a few months ago,

Nice one Les. Might have to take a look around the place tomorrow. Though the club membership might have expired!

I would definitely advise NOT re-visiting Rutland Street, it has changed a lot in the last 20 years it is now an absolute shit hole full of bag heads and boarded up houses.

When we were 15/16 JD's was where we used to end up if we got asked for ID in The Pier, JD's used to let anybody in from about 14 upwards!

My mates sister was a teacher at a Comp in Grimsby. Rutland Street was indeed a shit-tip (she lived in a flat in the newer block down one end) however, she'd previously lived in a Salford high rise, so Rutland St was up town living.

As for JD, yep, we ended up there whenever refused on the Pier, for being foreign.

* For Mansfield folks, Rutland St is Grimbo equivalent to old Brownlow Road. And JD was like The Village was in town.... Although I'm thinking most of you were in shorts in the 90s.

2-0 to a free flowing, attack minded Grimsby Town team: thus pushing us upwards towards the Play-Offs. We always make the Play-Offs, or have done for the last 10 years or so. We play at Wembley every season too. That's how huge we have become.

Not confident in predicting anything after Tuesdays game but I'll go for a 2-2 draw.

Maybe Clements will have one of those games (5 games per season average) where he actually shows up.

Just seen a picture of the back page of the Grimsby Telegraph 'Make things tough for Stags Boss' and a picture of Evans, he's hardly Jose Mourinho:lol:

He has history at Grimsby, was thrown out the ground a few years back.

I'm aware of the history, it's still OTT and a bit tinpot at the same time though.
