It's only one car Dukes of Hazzard used over 200 of them I think something like 20 survived personally I don't see the point of doing it as your basically just throwing away money and there will still be General Lee's out there.

I would imagine so but it seems an entirely pointless act and surely he would of knew the meaning behind the confederate flag when he bought the car and as soon as he sells the car no doubt the next person will restore it back to original condition Confederate flag and all.

but the extremist groups are still there whether the flag comes down or not . The idea that the confederate flag shouldn't come down because it upsets the kkk / white power is ridiculous , you might as well repeal the entire civil rights legalisation because the far right aren't too keen on that either along with Jews ,gay people , Catholics , Mexicans and women working . The flag coming down isn't going to solve racial issues on its own but removing it from public buildings is a symbolic break from the south's history of slavery and racial discrimination . People should be able to go about their lives without seeing a symbol of oppression flying proudly from public buildings in their own country . If the good ol boys want to further wrap themselves in the confederate flag then that is their choice but I hope that in time they would become progressively more marginalised until the only place you will see the flag is museums and possibly lynyrd skynyrd album covers .

Think you're misunderstanding black nationalism there. It's fundamentally about unity and self-determination and couldn't be more different to the KKK's racial purity and white supremacy.

The commission for civil rights calls the Black Panthers a hate group................they call the KKK a hate group..............is the only reason you let one off because one is black hate and other white hate.

we didn't have a race war to the death when kkk membership numbered over 10% of the population in the 20s. we didn't have a race war to the death when the panthers sent an armed group into the california state assembly (which was debating the very legislation allowing loaded firearms in public). and, if we didn't have a race war to the death during the civil war which was almost entirely about race - then i'd argue we probably won't have one now

I saw it a couple of weeks ago Dave. Depressing stuff, as you say from both sides. If you've seen the Malcolm X film or read his biography you might remember a part where a young white woman came up to him and asked if she could help with the struggle against white oppression. He told her that there was nothing she could do to help. He said that because at the time he was heavily involved in the NOI and saw all white people as white devils. Years later expressed remorse for rejecting her and apologised to the woman. The scene in the BBC documentary where the white woman was very similar and it's regrettable that these people haven't learned from past mistakes.


As for the people in the programme involved in the Klan, you could tell that a lot of them were social misfits looking for a scapegoat because their own lives were so shit.

I'm not too concerned about the supposed race war that both sides cite. It's not going to happen as most sound minded black and white people don't want it. William Luther Pearce wrote the Turner Diaries in 1978 and American neo Nazis have been saying the story will come to be ever since, but it never has and I'm pretty sure never will.
