From what I've seen from some Torquay fans , briscoe gets knackered around the 60 minute mark . Perhaps the logic is that he can be taken off for York who is also incapable of performing consistently for the full 90.
We've signed Notts County midfielder Nicky Wroe until the end of the season.
Surprised to see Wroe in the Conference, finished top scorer for us in League One and was a decent player at that level for us until Grayson moved him on. This was only three years ago...
Good luck to him.
Yeah, having just looked at that I'm surprised. I didn't appreciate he'd made a fair drop. Even having played at York in the Conference in his mid-20s it's a bit of a drop to end up at ours. According to Wikipedia he'd spent 18 months as Notts County player with only a dozen games to speak of, so I'd guess he just needed game time.
What was his game like at Preston NE? With us he has a partnership with the upcoming talent Kingsley James in the engine room. He'll track back while James goes on some good attacks and vice versa. They're currently commanding midfields whoever they play against.
Yeah, he's got a decent all round game, puts himself about in the middle of the park and could cause problems when he picked it up on the edge of the area, decent shot on him too (hence his 11 goals that season). Could go completely missing in some games and his inconsistency was probbably why we got rid but when he was on-form he made the team tick.
Imagine he would be a stand-out player at this level.
Sounds about right actually! Although our entire squad's been consistent since Harvey took over in late November, and Wroe's been central to that. Guess it's the combination of proven talent and experience that has made him a pivotal signing.
Give his goal against Tranmere a look at 1:20. Unaccounted for 25 yards out and finishes beautifully. Loving this team right now.
Scunthorpe I think, 3-0 home winAye, beauty that, has it in his locker. Remember him bagging one from the half-way line for us, forgot who that was against though.
Luke Maxwell has signed for Birmingham City and been loaned back to us for the rest of the season. Very good move for everyone, he deserves his chance, we get to keep him for the rest of the season and get £75,000 for him. And Birmingham get a CM with great potential.
Not having seen him play but that seems like a very good fee for a club in your position, especially with the loan back. Probably with add-ons? (i.e. percentage of future profits). Especially good for getting in good young players from lower levels who want to use you as a stepping stone
We'll just have to wait and see if kiddy survive long enough to get those future fees...
Hope so, really good club and a great ground to visit.Come next season we've been told we'll be free of all the high earners so we should survive.

good to see clubs investing in their kids, brought a few bob in for us in recent years.Just because it looks utterly depressing from the outside, doesn't mean there is no long-term future. The club is finding its feet again after some appalling decisions which were made from previous owners, which no one obviously has took responsible for, whilst the benefactors putting in the money were treated disgustingly. We're still paying for those decisions which has took a hit on our current budget.
For what it's worth i'm quite optimistic about the future and the sustainable plan Gordon wants to execute. The only question marks I raise are his agent connections - Hockaday was one, and we all knew how that would end. His next appointment for us is huge, as it'll create strong opinions.
As for Maxwell, I think its a great bit of business for us. I wouldn't value him at £75k but he has potential and the physical attributes to be a dominant midfielder with the right guidance, after being forced to become a key player after only playing academy football last year is a huge step up for anyone.
Great advertisement for our academy too, an area which the club are looking to focus on.
Back-up keeper Dylan Forth left today so we've brought in Tony Thompson, most recently of Morecambe as replacement.
Doubt he'll ever play, like Forth he'll probably get a go in the Cheshire Cup.I laughed when I heard this! He was absolutely shocking for us, and we've had some pretty bad keepers in recent seasons.
Priceless.Jon Nolan signs for Grimsby.
