Niko is a decent fella, he probably never got a fair crack of it upfront for us, but he's not a National League striker for me though.

Those are some serious contracts to be handing out, jeez. Particularly with the manager, who has obviously had a brilliant start, but..

Jak Hickman signed for National league Kings Lynn on loan until the end of the season.
Another who was quite not good enough, though far from a bad player

There’s been interest in both, very much more a case of protecting our assets. If a club from higher up want to take them were now in a far stronger position to demand some hefty £££’s

Great move from the club to protect our most prized asset (after Rowe who’s also had his contract extended to 2024) for the foreseeable
Evatt will know all about them.....Can they make the step up to lge 1?

Evatt is the one rumoured to be sniffing around Asante, so now that he’s tied down for another 3 and half years it will take a hefty fee to get him. And as you allude to, no guarantee in a striker scoring goals in non league being able to repeat that 2 leagues above (if you do go up to league 1), so Evo might see it as not being worth the risk when considering how much he’d cost...

I’ve no doubt he could cut it through from what I’ve seen of him, I am genuinely baffled as to how he is at this level as oppose to playing in the league already... maybe it’s his history of injuries, but we’re yet to see that here so far (* I say whilst touching every piece of wood in sight...)

This is true, but it also wouldn’t be the first time that a manager has had a very good first few months at a new club only for it to go wrong very quickly. Particularly as the current circumstances are so weird and you’ve not had the chance to see how it works in a more normal season yet.

It’s probably going to work out great as everything seems to be going very nicely, but it’s still quite a big risk IMO.

Yep can see it from both sides, I guess the board are just intent on fully backing their man (and their man’s, main man!!) in what is a difficult climate as you say

The fan base is completely behind the decisions to extend both their deals, so if it does all go wrong in the end I’m sure the fans would have sympathy with the board as it’s what we’ve been calling for in fairness! Got to be confident in those investments though, both are our prize assets.

Though we will be out of a embargo come May, i cannot see us paying much on gambles. Will watch this one come summer and see if the is any mileage

An interesting post on our forum from a poster known as ‘The Whistler’, who is strongly rumoured to either be JR himself, or someone very close to him (agent / member of coaching staff etc..)

“Word is that Stockport County had put a big (6 Fig) bid in for him last week. There are others in the 1st & 2nd League showing interest so I believe.
At least if he does go, that being dependant I suppose which league Chesterfield are in he could stay, but if he goes then we should get a good deal from it.”

Going by that it’s a complete no brainer really ^^ Didn’t realise Stockport had £££’s to be throwing about mind!?

We've just signed a lad from Rotherham on loan, Jake Cooper, Centre Back, gives us another option to cover for injuries.

I dont really understand Chesterfields financial model, they seem to be accruing a lot of debt and liabilities for a fan owned club, but on the flip side given his form so far you'd expect clubs to be interested in him in the summer so it saves them from losing him for nothing.

Huge risk for a player with his injury record, but Barrow did it with Quigley too and it worked for them.

As for Stockport their owner is pretty wealthy, so I'm sure they can chuck around a fair amount of money if they wanted.

Seems like everyone is making a lot of signings. Where is everyone getting the money from? We’ve put it out there that we can’t afford any signings despite being down to literally 14 players for Saturday...

He might be wealthy but 6 figure transfer fees thrown about at this level though? Unheard of

On our financial model, I’m not going to pretend to be an expert on this at all, but we’re actually owned and ran by a charity as opposed to being ‘fan owned’ in the form of a supporters trust for example.... and as we know, charities tend to be able to benefit from certain revenue streams that other types of business models wouldn’t for example

I’m not surprised people are shocked at us appearing to be being ran so well and efficiently to be honest, we’ve been an absolute basket case for the past 5/6 years so it’s a bit of a shock to the system for us aswell. But the community trust seem to be ran by very business savvy people who have the clubs best interests at heart, and whilst they’re in charge I’m very confident that every financial decision they take will be within our means as a club... because why would a group of lifelong supporters want to saddle their own club with unsustainable debt??

Absolutely, I'm sure every decision is properly thought out, it just seems counter intuitive. But as you say its a different model than we've really seen before.

I agree with you about Asante. If you were going to spend that much (and you don't need to at this level) there are tons of other players you'd look to buy.

Well, I take what I said previously back. We’ve just signed Billy Chadwick again on another months loan. He looked far too good for us when we had him previously. That’s a cracking signing.

The way we’ve worded it suggests Hull might be paying his wages too.

There are some owners with real ££ down here - only 19 teams have even applied for one of the loans, and that includes a few in the North and South.

Really? Doesn't sound like football fan behaviour to me, much more likely that they will be up in arms and calling for the head of whoever made such a stupid decision (if it turns out to be)!

They’ve been throwing Salford money about. It was a massive thing on here beginning of the season. Stockport were huge favourites to win the league with the bookies because they literally threw money at anything that moved. Signed about 20 players. Spent a fortune signing one of our better players then took another from us on huge wages.

Ah, I was still AWOL from this forum at the start of this season for obvious reasons as Soup likes to remind people, so that’s why I must have missed that one...

He came on yesterday and looks an excellent edition, lively player with excellent close control.

He’s brilliant, based on yesterday and his previous spell he’s too good for this league imo. He could easily play at league 2 level. We are very lucky to have him. Sounds like we aren’t even paying his wages either which is an even bigger bonus.

wtf is going on, why are we signing players who look like we're going to get a call off his teacher asking why he didn't turn up to school today? 33 players on the books now..

Any good Fylde fans?

Signed Mark Ellis and RB Kenton Richardson from Sunderland. Hartlepool fans should know the latter - any good?
