Happy with Taylor, we needed an attacking LWB and he fits the bill!

This news and DKE signing up late last week has made me a lot more relaxed. Probably just one or two players away from our strongest starting line up now, and a couple of others for some more depth.

Expected the Taylor thing to happen as I said last week on this forum. With Miller coming in it made logical sense for our current attacking wingback on that side to depart

James Hanson signs for Farsley Celtic, be a very good signing for them if they can keep him fit but unfortunately he spent his 2 years here mainly injured.

thank goodness. I got a bit worried Parkinson would bring him to us

Quality signing for that level.

As I said yesterday, he could be a good signing at this level. You're likely to bring in a much worse target man (if that's what you're in the market for), but just one that can play for an entire season.

Fitzsimons didn't play a second for us. Joined mid season to add more back up to Hinchliffe but obviously never showed enough in training to push him at any point. We've got Ethan Ross at ours now and the feeling is he could really push Hinchliffe to be the number one.
Spurred on by poverty, we've got quite good at taking other people's surplus-to-requirements and making a go of it, the latest such example being Jacob Mensah, who we picked up after he was binned off by Palace U23s and who today signed for Morecambe.

I’ve genuinely never heard of him. Did he play for us?
He played for you on loan but I think you only had one star on the shirt then so it was before you jumped on the bandwagon.

Aldershot (and Boreham Wood, apparently )
Joel Nouble signs for Livingstone, 2 year deal, loaned out to Arbroath. That must be one of the weirdest deals ever. I’d like to know what’s the attraction for a London boy. Good luck, we’ll miss him.

The boy is clearly an Arbroath Smokie connoisseur. A fine delicacy. Wont be finding any of those at Smithfield Fish Market that's for sure!

Wasn’t he the one you were saying would get a FL move?

You’re right. Googled says he made 3 appearances for us. I don’t remember him in any game but there you go

Really cannot see the logic in that move. He’d surely have had offers from L2/NL clubs, and his brother plays at Colchester so unsure why he’d relocate to Scotland. Seem to remember something similar happening with Jordan Roberts a few years back, went to Inverness them came back down this way a year or two later. Hope it works out for Joel up there but definitely a strange move on the face of it.

Money surely? SPL teams will be offering higher wages than most, if not all, L2/Conference clubs I'd imagine. We almost lost James McKeown to Motherwell a few years ago, it took us giving him a 3 year deal to keep him and that only really worked because he is settled in the area with a young family. Motherwell offered more money. Incidentally, the keeper they brought in after McKeown turned them down was the Walsall keeper who went onto play for two seasons for Motherwell and then got a move to Newcastle so it's not really such an illogical transfer in my opinion. We've lost a few players that had great seasons for us to SPL teams. Rob Jones went there, captained Hibs and then went onto our Championship.

The loan to Arbroath isn't that bonkers either, it's on the same side of Scotland as Livingston and the difference in standard between Scottish second tier and English fourth/fifth tier is probably fairly negligible.

Cheaper way of life than the SE of England for more money at (on paper) a much higher level, not sure what’s not to understand in him moving to Scotland.

I think it's the immediate loan move to part time Arbroath that is surprising to Shots fans. However, looking at the big picture it's definitely a step up. In 6-12 months he could be playing in the SPL which is a very good standard.

Connor Shields couldn't hit a barn door for us, but then moved to Queen of the South and had a stormer in the Scottish Championship which earned him a move to Motherwell.

Personally I'm glad Nouble didn't follow the norm of what most of our good players do and sign a two year deal at Boreham Wood or Barnet.

Oof. Might make my debut visit to Red Passion.

Edit: What was all that about moving closer to home though? Everyone knows Barrow train in Knutsford. Was the ‘lies’ he talked about the fact that people may just speculate that was all a load of nonsense, and he’s gone for the highly lucrative three year deal? (Not that I blame him for that)

I mean of course money is a huge factor but he could now move somewhere in between Stockport and Shrewsbury and be close enough to both work and family or if he had two places he can get back to Shrewsbury after a home match with a day off or two.

Whereas all of this harder/not possible when you’re driving to Barrow for all the home games and I’m guessing community stuff in the area as well.
