Out of those I say only Belford, Newton, Vose and Fowler are certainties to play every week. Then add to that the certain picks who are already here in Manny Smith, Jennings and Moult. The rest of them are squad players and will have to work their way into regular slots. He's had to build almost an entire squad and yes there's time to get a few more in yet. We need another midfielder for sure.

Cameron Belford - better than Coughlin
Javan Vidal - first proper right back we've had in about three years
Sean Newton - better than Ashton is these days
Jamal Fyfield - bench warmer who is more versatile than Luke Waterfall
Dominic Vose - better than Joe Clarke
Lee Fowler - will play more games than Dean Keates
Adriano Moke - rhymes with the hokey cokey
Adam Smith - better than Theo Bailey Jones.

As you can see, Mills has improved our squad irrefutably and we should be competing for a play off place next season.

Barrow have signed David Mellor (ex Oldham) on a 2 year deal and Danny Pilkington has signed up for another season
Only made a handful of appearances for Alfreton last season and impressed me. Do think the Halifax fans thought the same way during his time there though.

He has talent but can be very lazy.

Think he only played a half, didn't look interested and didn't show much talent

Glad we chose Brabin over Mills after seeing these signings for Wrexham, shockers.

I don't think Wrexham's signings are too bad. Vose and Smith have looked good every time I've seen them. Belford and Vidal are a bit unknown to me however. Newton is good going forward but a poor defender ( like most of Mills fullbacks) so I don't think they'll have a great goals against column this year (especially after signing Fyfield, god almighty). I don't get the many Wrexham fans ideas that 'Fowler is class', he might be good for a couple of months but the fact he played for Nuneaton for half this season tells you all you need to know. Also, Mills insistence on 4-3-3 means you'll probably have players out of position i.e Jennings on the wing. Finally, if you don't get into the playoffs this year, don't expect to next year coz he'll have lost the dressing room by then (coz he's a wanker).

I think Wrexham look pretty strong if I'm honest. Mills has a great playing style to him, they've retained their best players and strengthened where needed. Vose and Newton are great signings for this level.

Will be hard to compete with the squad Grimsby have on paper but over 46 games? Strong possibility of play offs.

One more signing to come
I think your best work has been keeping hold of Smith, Moult and Jennings. I just expected a little bit more from the signings, admittedly without knowing too much about who you already have signed up.

One thing I don't understand is Mills sides don't cross the ball, yet you've signed Newton, Moke and Smith.

This 'great playing style' of his was not evident when we played Gateshead last year, the usual dross passing between the back 4 before just hoofing it upfield for the whole game to Rankine.
I think it is gonna be another long season for Wrexham myself.
And just to reiterate what the other Grimsby fan said, Mills is, without any doubt at all, an absolute fucking wanker!

Mills 4-3-3 hugely relies on quick, direct, goalscoring wingers playing either side of that centre forward. York had Blair and Chambers and we had two of them that first season in Marwood & Maddison, last season we misfired there with Rodman and often a centre forward playing out of position there such as Rankine or Wright.

His philosophy is very Keegan-esq, forget about the opposition we'll just put them on the back foot. When you have the right players to do that, it's brilliant football to watch, but when you don't it's very predictable for the opposition.

Recruitment is his big achilles heal, last season he brought in bodies early on rather than trying to wait for quality. After Wembley, there were alarm bells with the signings, but we just ignored them believing that he knew exactly what he was doing because after all he got us to Wembley. Sadly as soon as Maddison was gone, that was that. Wrexham look to have made a couple of decent signings, but a number of them remind me of his recruitment for us last season. I guess only time will tell if he's got it right or not.

Joe Mcnerney signs a 2-year deal with Crawley, disappointed to see him go but he had already said he was looking for a FL contract. On his day he's more than good enough for League 2 but his inconsistency could be an issue. Defence needs to be sorted over the summer now for sure.

With absolutely no disrespect to you, as a newly relegated team you will be in for a surprise when it comes to your recruitment so how you can say ours is crap is beyond me

Yes a few of those players are failed football league players, but this level is a totally different playing field, as we found out in our first year down here. And the next. And the next....

Also, Brabin has a lot to prove managerially as this level seeing how his spells as Luton Town's and Cambridge Utd's manager ended.

Aye, at least Mills knows how to get a team promoted from this league unlike Brabin.

We've got 2 pretty good strikers at this level in Moult and Jennings, get them service and they'll score goals. As for a repeat season for us, I highly doubt that. In any case, we finished 11th last season, on the same points as the 9th place side. This was after some absolute dross at times, the worst seen in our time down here. Think we won something like 1 game in 17 at one point of the season. To make that ''leap' to challenge for the playoffs isn't going to take miracles, merely competent management is needed. The spine of the team looks strong enough to challenge for the playoffs but not sure what other squads are looking like in comparison. Grimsby's is certainly the best in the league but after that I'm not seeing anything outstanding at present.

Not getting involved in an appendage measuring contest - it does nobody any good. However, in Brabin's defence, he got both Luton and Cambridge into the playoffs didn't he? - spot kicks away from getting that promotion. I'd take that now if I was offered it (obviously with a different outcome).

Not really, no. When he took over from Money we were already basically guaranteed a play-off spot. Which was lucky, because he only managed 3 wins from the 10 league games he was in charge for.

The next season, with his own team, he was sacked with us on the verge of dropping out of the play-off places at the end of March. When he was sacked, we'd just lost 4 and won just once from our last 7 games. If he had stayed in charge, there is absolutely no chance we would have finished in the play-offs that season.

We were unlucky not to win the play-off final under Brabin, but his form in the league proper was awful for us, and I suspect we would have had a comparatively bigger budget than you will this season.

Looking at Danny Wright, people assume that he should be played in the middle, but it was wide in a front three where he was at his best for us. He would pick up so much momentum running with the ball that he'd smash through defences like a tank through balsa wood. Almost taking the ball out of play and then cutting in towards the six yard box was a bit of a speciality move for him too.

Another gamble by Barry Smith. Walker scored 43 goals for Peacehaven but that was in the Ryman South, he didn't get a look-in at Luton. Hopes could rest in whether Barnes-Homer bothers to try. Your lot could be in trouble again next season.

If I were a betting man, I'd back Walker to outscore MBH. He definitely has something about him, you could see that even in his brief cameos for us. He's a proper goalscorer.

Could you see those 2 (assuming that is Barry Smith's plan) linking up well as a strike partnership?

On the basis of very little evidence... maybe? Walker seems like a grafter which should offset MBH's chronic laziness somewhat. On the other hand, Walker strikes me as an old-school pure penalty box type of striker; if you want him to score goals you want him inside that 18-yard box at all times. I think he'd suit playing with a classic brute of a target man more than anything else which MBH definitely isn't.

For Newport two years ago, yes he was pretty good. Haven't seen him since however but if he's been a regular (not sure he has) in league 2, he's probably just as good. Also got promoted with Wimbledon I think?

Not sure how he's got on at Newport in L2 but on the face of it that seems like a very good signing. He's an experienced CB with three promotions from the Conference on his CV - can't believe he's still only 30 though, was expecting 34 or 35.
