I think we'll be starting on a reduced budget.

Madden is on some obscene money, no doubt. Went from playing regular League One football basically his whole career to a huge money transfer to Stockport on a 3 year deal.

At least Mullin sort of blagged his way here by having a freak season. No one would have batted an eyelid at him before that.

We're all having lots of fun with these wages but on a serious note I've just heard on a podcast that The Athletic have reported that there's a Conference player on 9k p/w this season. So Mullin or Quigley? Wrexham and Stockport fans you can squabble amongst yourselves on that but until you decide who it is, the rest of us will have to do the only reasonable thing we can and assume it's both of them.

One player it definitely isn't is Danny Rowe. As we were reliably informed when he was at Fylde, his family are minted and he basically plays for Buttons.

Ah yes, so the 9k p/w they're paying for Madden was already on their budget so that does tie in with Stocky's theory that they could be operating on a reduced budget. Case solved. Madden confirmed 9k p/w.

Madden is coming towards the end of his career and took a 3 and half year deal on good money knowing it was his best long term option with less than a year left at Fleetwood. I’m not saying he took a wage cut but I doubt it was a big rise either - it was the length of the deal that swung it as he knew he’d be dropping down sooner rather than later.

Mullin on the other hand at 26 and having reported Championship interest…

It's Sam Johnson at The Shay, the rest of them are on £50p/w. :ds:

"Good on his day"
"If they can keep him fit"

Story of everyone down here.

In other news, Jamie Stott's gone on a season loan to Fylde. Good signing Fyldefan, he was class for us in the North, bit short for the top of this level but I was expecting someone like Halifax to pick him up.

Yeah pleased with that stocky. I just wish we weren’t paying him 9k a week. Seems a little excessive for the north

It's not Mullin, my understanding is that Mullin was so happy with the phone call from Rob McElhenney that he agreed to play for free aside from a modest goal bonus and a small role in the next season of Mythic Quest as Poppy's love interest.

Has anyone watched that show? I quite enjoyed it. In one episode, Rob McElhenney wields a shield with Wrexham's badge on it, with zero explanation. I also like Ryan Reynolds' movies. For these reasons, I will find it very difficult to begrudge Wrexham's inevitable success this coming season. Unless they pinch Connor Lemonheigh-Evans off us.

Jamie Stott had gone on loan to Fylde for the season. We’ve had four go this week with Jennings retiring and Maynard, Stott and young lad Alli all going out on loan for the season.

Be interesting to see if anymore come in before the start of the season. Not including Connor Jennings we have 20 senior pros and one of them in Kitching is at the start of his comeback from injury.
Paper thin squad, struggle to make top 3 IMHO

They are the most likeable owners in the National league. Although they haven't got much competition, Count Cleeve, Parmenter, those Notts County weirdos, Dodgy Stott and his slave built condos, and the Guy at Grimsby who can't stop going on about how self made he is.

We still don’t have a first-team keeper tied down for this season though. Surely one can’t be too hard to find?

We've had Shaun MacDonald ex Torquay and Thai porn racist Adam Smith on trial, I believe he was at Yeovil in between moneyshots.

In the end we plumped for Pools fan Jono Mitchell who, based on feedback, single handedly relegated Northampton from L1 last season.

So you have options.

Our manager in an interview last week said that we got an amazing fee for L2 for Quigley, and that his wages were crazy money. But I think we all know it's got to be Mullin.

The exciting thing about this division this year is seeing which of the 'projects' goes tits up.

Ours just look like IT technicians, it’s a big step forward from the last guy posting his dick on Twitter.

It's funny how every one was going overboard last season about how Madden was on 3k a week but now because it's been claimed that someone is on 9k it must be him. So if someone really is on that amount why not just apply Occam's razor and ask which player in the NL was being chased by EFL clubs that would have been paying wages in that sort of ballpark, Madden, Quigley or Mullin? I know which of those my money would be on.

Literally nobody on here has said that, (if they have then I haven’t seen it anyway) and it seems pretty much well agreed on by everybody that it’s Mullin.

Stockport apparently tripled Quigley's wage. Given he was on £7.8k a week here that's an extortionate amount.

Just wait until Wrexham realise they've cocked up and they splash the cash to re-sign Paul Rutherford the day before the season starts for the 3rd or 4th year running....

Ruthers is on buttons, its just money to supplement his B&Q wage.

I’m not convinced about him. Granted he was never given much of a chance. But other than being great at stepovers I never really saw much else in him.
