Their squad is the best. I have them 1st. Only problem could be too many players if anything. Ourselves, Wrexham and Notts spend but we seem to have an eye on keeping the squad trim at the very least.

That’s Rowe though, isn’t it. You can’t tell me that the plan was to sign Tyson to a new deal, then pick Payne up, then go out and get Tshimanga. He can’t seem to help himself.

He roams about like a bit of a lunatic but with his finishing ability you want him in the box really. Asante could pull wider and create a bit of width, he's willing legs. Makes you wonder about the Payne signing if Tshimanga was on the radar. Unless for whatever reason we've only recently learned we could get him. Still it's nice to have such depth up there

He's a weapon off the bench, if a team isn't set up to deal with a player like that he gives them hell. Still it's 1 bench slot of a max 5 of a 1D player I guess

I can't agree with that. The pressure is on Rowe but this league is very very competitive!

Well, they’d argue the plan is that their ambitions have changed since then and they needed better players, I guess. Whether that’s true looking at their record last season, I’m not sure.

Rowe has clearly got a great eye for a player, Tshimanga and Rowe may be obvious but he’s found some gems in the north and other different places as well. Keeping them all happy over a season for a title challenge when you don’t know who might fall out of favour or lose their place to the next flavour of the month is a different challenge, though. Be interesting to watch.

Everything about Notts’ approach, manager etc is the complete opposite. Should make for a tasty little side show with us as kind-of-local-rivals, last year’s play-off game, us signing two of Rowe’s cast offs, them picking up our former loanee..

They're owned by the fans. We know how that can end up. Supporters Trust often make poor owners IMO. They don't look at things coldly or rationally enough. It happened to us.

Barcelona are another recent example.

Sometimes you need someone who looks at it like a business and says "no" even if football supporters don't like that.

Two positives:

For Chesterfield if he has another good season and even if they don't go up, there is the potential to cash in. If he can prove he can do it at a bigger, northern club with a greater wealth of expectation then someone might need to give Chesterfield a big wedge to buy him.

Also it weakens Boreham Wood, which is always good to see.
