Announced. Great piece of business by ourselves I think this will prove to be.
Sack the camera man.

He's 10 times more handsome in real life.

What's the opposite of a catfish?

As for Cardwell the player, he joined us was great for the first month, the second two or three months exposed his limitations really and we knew we needed a new number 9 for this season. Sounds like we considered him as back up but he priced himself out so Southend are obviously throwing some around.

He's a jack of all trades master of none number 9, there is potential for him to be a very good striker at this level but the safer bet would be to say he's more mid table or back up to a promotion chasing team material.

Cheers for that feedback Stocky, don't know what fee we have paid, but rumours were Ross County reportedly bid £100k earlier in the month. I think we will have bid less, but an add on and additional fees structured offer.

He gives us something different up front with his size and stature and seems to play more facing forwards from the clips we have seen, whereas Murphy and Dalby play alot with their back to goal.

With the addition of Musin, we will have alot more pace, mobility within the team on the park. One thing's for sure, I don't think we are going down now.

Nah that was a rumour floating around this time last year after the FA Cup exploits but I think was just Chorley/agents leaking false things to create a bidding war that never happened.

Despite him saying he likes to run in behind I didn’t see much of that. I’d say he’s more of a back to goal striker.

He did run in behind a bit for us and scored a few doing it, I remember a couple at Solihull away when he first came.

He's hard to describe. Jack of all trades at most striking aspects without being great any of them.

I'll be interested to see how he'll do at Southend. Good luck to him.

Thanks again for your info Stocky, hopefully he will feature tomorrow. One thing's for sure, we are beginning to feel like a proper football club again.

Harry asked for a transfer so he could move back into full time football. There have been several offers over the last 12 months, none of which we felt matched the valuation of the player. However, with the way he’s been playing recently it was inevitable further bids would come in and Southend’s offer, coupled with Harry’s desire to leave and his contract ending in the summer, gave us the opportunity to do a deal that worked for all partiesTerry Robinson (CEO, Chorley FC)

Unless Cardwell has improved significantly since he was with us he's an underwhelming signing. Just offers nothing at all, isn't a great finisher or particularly pacy, and his hold up play is average at best. His one league goal for us (in 37 appearances) was a scuffed tap in from 2 yards, and other than that his only other memorable contribution was diving to win a penalty at Swindon in a must win game when we were trying to dodge relegation towards the end of the 2017-18. He'll definitely enjoy living in Essex at least!

SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher feels the signing of Harry Cardwell shows the Shrimpers are ready to compete in the National League.

Cardwell has put pen to paper on a two and half year deal with Blues.

And Maher feels 25-year-old Cardwell, who joined from Chorley, will be a big addition for Blues.
"He’s someone straight away that we earmarked and kept an eye on and I think it shows where we’re going as a club and what we’re trying to achieve,” said Maher.
“It’s an important one to show that we’re ready to compete at this level and I think he will do ever so well for us.

"He’s a great age, got loads of room for improvement but he’s also ready to play now.
"We’ve done our due diligence on players and we’re going to be doing that as we go along.
"When the deal was made possible to do, we were delighted.”
And Maher was delighted to be supported by the Shrimpers’ board. "For the club to back us, the chairman, Tom [Lawrence] and everyone connected with the football side, I think it’s great,” said Maher.
"He’s going to be good for the club and we’re going to be good for him.
"Coming in he’s going to be hungry.
“He wants to play for the club and has seen what we’re trying to do.
"He’s a proper centre forward too.
“They’re a bit of a dying breed now but he will get hold of the ball, he scores different types of goals, he’ll be good for the team and will bring more out of everyone else as well.”
"He’s here to improve us and we will improve him as well so that’s important."

Could be a really positive atmosphere tomorrow at the Hall and that is an understatement!

I still fume at that penalty!

We have signed Harry Phipps from Dagenham, any Daggers out there want to give an idea of the sort of player we have brought in? Think most Linnets fans will question another midfielder rather than the (any) forward that we so obviously need

I hope for Southend’s sake that Cardwell has improved massively as for us he always worked hard but was absolutely shite.

Might have a better career as a model. 2 goals in 60-odd games doesn’t even compare to Shamir Mullins, who was also “ a proper centre forward” that had “ loads of room for improvement “.
Good luck, anyway.
He scored 5 goals for us in about 18 games last season and has consistently scored goals in the North for Chorley. He's got 1 in 2 for them this season which is probably a better ratio than the lad from Darlington that some of the FL clubs are after.

Don't know where 2 in 60 record comes from?

We've released David Longe-King apparently. Weird one that, but sounds like he wasn't really happy here.

Yeah, my bad, misread his history. I’m not a great fan of “old fashioned “ centre forwards, but unfortunately this shithouse league is full of them.
Surprised that Southend found a reported £75k for him. I shall watch with interest.

Not fit to lace Charman's boots and he's got 12 goals in 16 appearances this season.

Charman is off to Rochdale apparently.

The fee is reported at £35k, not up front, as his contract ran out in the summer.

He looks like he’s been artificially generated and that’s an interview from Fifa 22.
