Absolutely crackers amounts of money being chucked around, but it's theirs, they can afford it, so fair play. Basically assembled a 3rd tier squad at this point!

Thought it was bad when Salford were here and they spent £4K a week on Rooney - Wrexham’s spending this year blows it out the water. The gulf in budgets between the top and bottom of this league is mad - Mullin, Palmer and this new blokes combined wages is probably more than our entire squad.

Siriki Dembele has finally left Peterborough after about four windows of speculation, meaning we're due a windfall. Undisclosed fee but they'd previously rejected £1.5M and we're due 25% so you'd think we're on for at least £375k. It's all going into Fenty's back pocket for now but the sooner that charlatan is paid off the quicker we can move a bit closer to competing with the spendthrifts.

In a way, I feel for Parkinson because he can't win. With the money spent, it should really be a romp to the title, open top bus booked in early April etc but doesn't look to be heading that way.

I can't imagine what will be going through his head when he steps onto that bus on probably Friday afternoon heading down to Torquay United. The pressure is massive.

Nobody has. Southampton youngster and spent 2 seasons on loan at Gillingham.

Fee less than Palmer, so £324k.
I've heard a lot about him as Burton are my local club. He's had a brilliant season and considering Albion signed him for free 6 months ago it's a decent bit of business for them.

Plus - he can score
Minus - standard inconsistent winger
Did he play centrally for you this year? And If so did he play as more of an 8 or a 10? And is he any good there?

We don’t really play with wingers and we have two good ones already for when we do. We need cover in central/attacking midfield having let Rooney go.

How the other half live.

Remember Wrexham fans said before they signed Mullin that they wouldn’t be spending stupid money.

Their January spending has put them way out in front on Stocky’s spreadsheet.

Meanwhile, this month we’ve gone shopping at Aldi and signed castoffs from Port Vale and Scunthorpe, significantly reduced the squad size and wage bill and made a net profit on transfers.

They have 5 players on £3k or more a week now (or is it 6?).

On long contracts too, so I wonder how surprised their owners are going to be this time next year when it turns out they can’t just get rid of them and bring in a whole troop of new league oners.

On a slightly less grand deal we have signed Zak Dearnley till the end of the season after release from Oldham.

Wasn't exactly a secret we were in for him but nice to get it over the line.

Adds to our forwards options. Problem is we only have 2 fit centre backs.

We've signed James Ball from Solihull. Usual undisclosed fee.

Looking at Wiki, has done reasonably well there, and also for Stockport, but didn't do much in a (thoroughly shit) Stevenage team in the league three years ago. Pretty good goalscoring record for a midfielder...

He was decent for us but even that was in the North.

Very versatile player, he's played in the middle of a back three at Solihull and has played holding midfielder right through to a number 10 at times when he was with us.

I would say he's not much more than a National League player to be honest, maybe a decent squad player at League Two level particularly with his versatility.

Played up front as well for us a few games so literally played in every central area of the pitch except in goal.

Agree with Stocky. Slightly above average but very versatile NL player so bit surprised that another league club have taken a punt on him.

I feel that we really missed a trick by getting relegated last year as if we’d just stayed in the Football League one more season we could potentially be fleecing Wrexham by selling them all our shite at massively inflated prices.
Damn it.
You'd have been a level too low sweetheart.

Yes, it is Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's lack of knowledge on how contracts in football work that is going to sink us....If only they had started off by getting experts in this kind of thing into the club.

I think that is the key, Burton have a model that they work within and signing him for free meant that selling him on for a good fee so soon was too hard to say no to. Lot of talk of it being 500k, but it seems we didn't break our transfer record so it probably matched the Pamer 350k.

Thanks. He is quality - just injury prone. We got him back after doing his ACL then he got covid..
I’m waiting for him to fall down the stairs next.
Good luck to Tom - joined a club going places and he only goes with our best wishes. I’m sure the two clubs will cross paths in the future.
Burton fans have been proper classy on social media etc regarding this.

Nice to see after the Cambridge/Cheltenham/Carlisle reactions.

Yeah JFH has spoken on a number of occasions about acquiring young players to build up and sell for a profit. Burton have cleared out several 30+ players in the window and have a very young squad now. As a small club for their level it's a model that works for them and they're very good at what they do and very well run.

They are a decent set of fans, I have a lot of time for Albion. Living and working in Burton it's impressive to see how hard the club works in the community.
