Plus he's not good enough to play for either of us anyway, he's a luxury player who essentially needs the team built around him to get the best from him.
That's more or less why we've sold him and recouped the majority of the fee we payed. He wasn't starting games under Challinor and never really fit the style he has implemented.

He has got quality though, scored some outrageous goals for us. Good luck to him back at Barrow, think they've rolled the dice a bit there. An Oldham fan I know said if they get some form going under Sheridan (he said it was a big if) Barrow were the team he'd earmarked as the possibility to catch.

I wonder if Stockport have enough firepower to beat Dover next Saturday without Rooney?

I'd argue with Wrexham's style of play he actually could have been great for them. Wrexham may most accounts get the ball in the box early. Rooney perfect for either pinging if from deep or playing higher and picking up balls around the box. He can also whip a good ball in.

Wrexham keep getting linked for these big money midfielders from League One but do they play through the midfield that often?

Although you joke, I'd be very surprised if we don't move for a box to box midfielder this week and get our man. I'd be disappointed if weren't quite far along with it and despite our window not shutting until March, I'd like him in as quick as we can.

You don't need anyone in the next week. If you don't win by at least 3 goals it will be embarrassing for you

I never take anything for granted but the reason I want someone in the next week is so they can get bedded into our style and settled with our squad for the final few months of the season.

Wait we're allowed to pass the ball into midfield rather then hoof it over them? Somebody tell Parky!!!

we don't very often but when we have we've generally scored more goals, made more chances and looked a good side but we just seem to revert to long cross field balls more often then not unfortunately, can't see that changing much with Palmer coming in

That's exactly the role of Jordan Davies, also Jones is supposed to be playing higher up but it's not quite happening for him yet.

We hardly play through midfield, but we are missing a vital player in there and it looks like O'Connor is the man.

The signing of Palmer has signalled our intended style of play though for sure.

Even if you have none, John Rooney is one too many.

I actually think Rooney would probably be successful here. I think he massively struggles with pressing, which we don’t really do anyway, and general organisation, which again isn’t really our bag.

From what I’ve seen his main skill is finishing and getting on the end of stuff around the edge of the box. Someone who can do that, rather than try and score via a series of intricate one-twos, would score an absolute hatful here.

Rooney is perfect for that. He's genuinley absolutely superb at shooting from in and around the box.

You're hearing a lot from our fans about he doesn't fit the style etc and I agree, I don't think he ever did.

But lets have it right he can scores some brilliant goals and can ping a pass. He played a brilliant quick free kick for the 4-0 goal on Sunday if anyone sees those highlights its him who plays it.

I truly believe we've just weighed up the pro's and cons of his sale and there is more pro boxes considering the fee Barrow are paying but we're losing a good player. Hopefully the new midfielder we get in fits our style more. Few names being linked. Holohan at Hartlepool is one of the less glamorous shouts but one I could believe. Fits and knows Challinor's style, box to box player with energy who chips in with goals. Whoever comes in won't come into the first eleven straight away anyway at this moment in time. A massive key to our form in the midfield 3 of Croasdale, Collar and Sarcevic who have been brilliant under Challinor.

Not a new signing, but will seem like one if he makes it back to the first team....Ashley Nathaniel-George has been out with mental health issues for well over a year, but has just been announced as back in training this morning.

Confirmed as signed, good signing for Stockport and funny that Scunthorpe have given it big beans about having a big deadline, only for them to lose their best player.

Stockport as good as up IMO, the big question is which one out of Chesterfield or Wrexham end up in tears at the end of it
