We may have one of the smaller squads in the league next season, who cares what they are being paid as long as they perform on the pitch.

Unfortunately a lot of fans of other clubs, and some managers (including Hurst for example) seem to want to label us as moneybags. It's only done to mask their own sides incompetence and under-achievement..

FGR are the little club on the hill after all...All those 3 year 3k a week contract rumours were just lies by jealous underachieving managers.

Would underachievment also describe successive 10th place finishes despite having one of the league's biggest budgets?

You should storm to the title, given your massive budget and all the advantages you should have over everyone else.

If you don't it will be one of the most spectacular and embarrassing failures ever seen at this level.

Please don't be such a bellend.

Firstly I never complained about your budget, just said that you should be nailed on to win the league given the advantages you lot have over most other clubs going into this season. Secondly, no one from our club has ever whinged publically about any other clubs budget, unlike a certain Mr Hurst.

There have never been any excuses for our perceived failures/under-achievements. A lot of people could learn from the way our club conducts itself.

True, but the same could also be said for the fans of every other club who post on this board or elsewhere, they will often present and represent hugely differing viewpoints. Surely the strength of a forum is that all views may be aired and judged on their merits. I think the important thing to remember is that we have freedom of speech, a privilege that is so underrated, and it is sometimes better to just ignore or laugh at the posts of others, without rising to their bait. There are so many on here who make well reasoned posts, that are a pleasure to read, which far outweighs those who don't.

If it's any consolation, ChrisFGR's newfound Grimsby obsession has led to me realising that you and Greenacres are the two rational FGR fans. I used to have a terribly hard time distinguishing between you all for some reason!

Back to the thread, Mangan is indeed potentially a fantastic signing. Starting to doubt my initial views of Tranmere not being up to much now.

It's Brabin though isn't it? He did well at Southport, albeit for a short time, but most of us remember him messing it up at Luton, an even bigger and richer club at this level than Tranmere.

Maynard, Norwood and Mangan are all potentially class players. And if they get Harris playing as he can then thats a lot of quality. Riley was great for us a few seasons ago as well.

All their signings are strong. On paper they have to be strong contenders. A lot of stroppy temperaments though. If it goes wrong it could go really wrong.

Agree about Brain for sure, that's the main reason I have been doubting them previously. Mangan are Maynard are definitely the pick of their signings for me and the two I would most expect to do well next season.

Mangan is a solid signing for Tranmere, unfortunately though you'll be lucky to get 20 games out of him he's that injury prone.
