Going to go either way for tranmere, on paper they should do well, but with Brabin and some of those players if they go through a bad patch it could all go horribly wrong.

It's Brabin though isn't it? He did well at Southport, albeit for a short time, but most of us remember him messing it up at Luton, an even bigger and richer club at this level than Tranmere.

Maynard, Norwood and Mangan are all potentially class players. And if they get Harris playing as he can then thats a lot of quality. Riley was great for us a few seasons ago as well.

All their signings are strong. On paper they have to be strong contenders. A lot of stroppy temperaments though. If it goes wrong it could go really wrong.

Out of interest, what were the quality of Brabin's signings for Luton like? Was the general consensus as to why he failed his signings, his managerial ability or a mixture of both?

Good Luck with that one. Absolutely hopeless for us, not helped by Mill's not playing him very often and when he did it was out of position. Maybe Conference North is his level and he comes good, hope he does.

Doubt anything will happen with us on that front any longer. CM's said he wants a winger and striker, plus, I imagine we opted for the safer bet in Sparrow.

We have signed a goalkeeper at last! 20 year old Dillon Phillips on loan from Charlton. Matt Taylor has also left the club which is a big bonus for us. Left back and centre back expected to be signed this week which should pretty much wrap up our new signings.

Ollie Palmer of Mansfield (L2) moves to Orient (L2)...

Yip, the same Ollie Palmer that spent the entire season playing in the Conf last season and who was talking to at least 2 Conf clubs about a potential deal this season. Its of interest to some, even if you want to be a complete tosser and quote the very obvious L2 to L2 link.

We have signed Jimmy Phillips from Burton
Good Signing that. Has a lot of FL experience with Burton where he is highly regarded and was very useful during his spell with us last season. Although though he was only with us for the final 3 games.

Out of interest, what were the quality of Brabin's signings for Luton like? Was the general consensus as to why he failed his signings, his managerial ability or a mixture of both?

It's a bit of a while ago but bar Andre Gray (played one game under him after we came up against him in the trophy) in my opinion his signings where poor. We had a lot of crap players come in and he used to panic sign players, like Collin Samuel (I know I'd never heard of him either), Jamie Hand, Tommy Wright etc

He appeared to have next to no control over the players and they came across like an old boys club and where hugely unfit. There where strong characters, like Fleetwood, Keane, Danny Crow, Willmott, O'Connor et Al, "the pea hearts" and they just seemed unfit and uninterested half the time and Brabin appeared to have no appetite to instill any discipline among them, preferring to be one of the lads almost.

This is what concerns me about you is that players like Harris, Mangan and Norwood seem very similar to those players we had, strong characters who with weak management might start taking liberties.

I thought it at the time but it was huge mistake to give Brabin the job after the playof final where in my opinion he was tactically inept in not even having Owusu on the bench who had been highly effective in the run in that season.

He seemed a nice bloke in interviews and people liked him and called him "Brabs" and whatever but about the only good thing I can say about him as a a manger is that he wasn't as tactically inept as Paul Buckle.

Exodus geogaghan played in a trialist match tonight and is set to sign, monster of a throw but not inspired by this signing, doesn't seem to have done magnificently at any club he's been at.
