Because if there's one thing you want to avoid in a young players development, it's a learning curve.

Great move for Bournemouth though.

Fair point, but I think the most important thing for Wilshere is fitness. The last thing he wants is to go over to Milan or Roma in service of 'development' and be in and out of the team. He's (more or less) guaranteed to start every game for Bournemouth, and needs that to recover his form. He's 24 now, not a kid, and I don't think he has much to learn, he's a brilliant footballer.

I think the bit I agree with most in there is fitness and game time. Roma have an outstanding midfield on paper and Wilshere is very talented but would have to fight for his place, rather than being a focal point for the team. I can't believe a 24 year old player would not learn from going to another top league though.

Manchester City have broken the record for a fee spent on a 13-year-old by paying £175k for Southend's Finley Burns.

Berahino saga finally seems to be over!

Going to Stoke for 12 million.

Be a good buy if Hughes can get him playing well again.

EDIT: Fonte gone to West Ham - 8 million.

Despite him being an improvement and our defence being shite, I don't particulary like spending 8m on a 33 year old. If Reid is first choice then surely Fonte comes in alongside, but as part of a back four or are we going back three again? Ogbonnas concentration is nowt and Collins is getting on, but what about this Oxford kid?

Fonte's an improvement but another sign of a costly scattergun approach, makes you wonder if we have any scouts. The Guardian article a couple of days ago on the 32 strikers we've signed under Sullivan and Gold was hilarious.

Seeing Fonte in a West Ham shirt is just...... Wrong. Shame how it all ended.

8M quid for a 33 year old? I don't see how that's good business.

As for Berahino why has he been so depesperate to leave West Brom to end up at Stoke City? Hardly like he's moving to a bigger club.

Well, back when he burnt the bridge he thought he was going to Tottenham. Since then it's just been anywhere but WBA.

We'll probably end up spending £25m on him come the summer. West Ham do love a Liverpool cast-off.

With the money in the Premier League, it's probably not that bad of deal.

West Ham need some proven quality to help keep them out of the relegation battle and they can look for a longer term solution in the summer.
