"Thriftenheisen" is a very clever kind of portmanteau of my own concoction, combining the English word thrift (the quality of using money and other resources carefully and not wastefully) with the German surname Heisen to sarcastically slag the big hypocrite right off.

, yes, very clever. Heisen as in Werner Heisen(berg)?

And thanks for "portmanteau". Another addition to my limited vocabulary of the english language (after I looked it up in a dictionary, of course ;) )

edit: Forgot to ask: Is this Alisson guy really so good that it justifies a world record fee for a goalkeeper for him? I don't watch many Serie A matches (and haven't definitely seen an AS Roma match for years), so I don't know.

In the sense that he's the best in the world, no. In the sense that we had the money to spend, he was the only top quality keeper available and we were in need of one, yes.

He's over the hill a bit but was a fantastic player in his heyday. Should do well for you.

I wonder who his agent is ...

Any idea what the fee is meant to be? Can't wait to see 1% of it reinvested!

Reported 7 million odd.

Odd decision that. Thought he was one that with a bit of nurturing and time, would have developed into a decent CB for Newcastle.

Joao Moutinho confirmed for £5m. Meanwhile 5 minutes before Everton signed Richarison for £50m. I know who I'd rather have.

Let’s not get silly. You’d rather have the 21-year-old, who’s shown glimpses of ability in the Premier League already and is Brazilian, so added excitement. Everton could even one day make a profit on Richarlison still, than the 31-year-old, whose best days are behind him.

The same guy who has done nothing since November, or a guy who has won more trophies in his career than most clubs have won in their existance. Your constant anti Wolves stance is embarrassing.

The Moutinho transfer represents far better value than the Richarlison one but putting money to one side I do think Richarlison could end up being a great signing for Everton.

Richarlison looked quality at the start of last season, think a combination of Silva leaving and burn out effected him. Looking back at the matches he's featured in he hasn't had much of a break since April 2016 and went from a full season in Brazil to playing week in week out for Watford.

Silva knows how to get the best out of him so I'd expect him to do well for Everton.

Looking forward to seeing Moutinho play this season, he's one of those players who I've known about for years but have never really seen much of. Hope he's still got something to offer.

Your constant "Wolves are signing the best players in the world and everyone should be envious" stance is worse to be fair.

Okay, you aren't the next QPR, but Everton were the self-proclaimed 'winners of the transfer window' last summer and they ended up needing Sam Allardyce.

Nowhere have I claimed they are the best players in the world? What are you talking about?

We've signed players that most Wolves fans never thought we could attract, ofcourse we're over the moon with our transfer dealings. I don't think you'll find a person alive who genuinely think Richarlison for £50m is better business than Moutinho for £5m. That's the point I was making.

Everton have a chance of making that £50m back and more on Richarlison though when there are clubs like Manchester City about. All he needs is a couple of good seasons. He's very much a long-term deal. Spunking money on the likes of Yannick Bolasie and Gylfi Sigurdsson like they did was dumb and rightly berated by all, but this could work out to be a smart piece of business from them.

I'd be tempted to throw Patricio on due to his international career/profile however it seems like Wolves are currently now discussing a fee with Sporting for him so fair to leave him off.

And his wages and sign on fee will be obscene.

£3mil of a reported £7mil reinvested in Fabian Scharr, who was confirmed earlier. Relegated with a Deportivo side who conceded 70 odd goals. Exciting stuff.

Mate, Harry maguire, relegated with Hull conceding 80 goals, now a world cup hero and shortly the most expensive defender ever.

Every cloud.

In fairness we're also close to signing 2 strikers who don't score goals to replace 2 strikers who don't score goals. Exciting stuff.

Woah now, Japanese striker, over 60 appearances and 20+ goals for mainz, fee less than 10 mill. Shinji mk II? Prem winner in his first season.

Every cloud.

Shame it didn't work out and a shame he hasn't grown as a player. Also a shame Rondon looks to be his replacement. Hope he gets it together in the future cos potential and that. There's a good striker in there somewhere behind the stupidity, laziness, violence and missed sitters. Didn't do what was asked of him in training so he didn't play much. That's fair enough imvho and that. Didn't do enough when given chances. Had some good games but also kept assaulting people. Hasn't been part of our plans for 2 years, so a potential £27mil is very good money for him. Not that we'll see it mind. Hopefully the fan base can stfu about him and stop pretending he's the answer to all our woes now. Good luck to him, see him later. We go again as Steven George Gerrard MBE once said, while crying like a little girl on a football pitch.

Typical GB being negative.

£27m could contribute to a very sensible investment in plain white Slazenger socks. They will simply never go out of fashion and are therefore worth their weight in gold (at current levels). It could also be put to good use for eliminating the financial folly of a workforce. Self checkouts are very infrequently programmed to complain about working conditions, so can't damage the share price.

Ultimately, this is great for Mike's bottom line. And as for Newcastle, this could even lead to a much needed raising of the profile for Sports Direct. We have all missed seeing games played at the sportsdirect.com @ St James' Park. I personally think something is lost when clubs carelessly tear up their history and identity like that.

Socks in bulk also have the advantage of never needing to find a pair because they all match.
