It does surprise me a little though that Hugh hasn't mentioned Pickford yet or as Hugh dubs him " the next Joe Hart", presumably because he's conceded just 1 goal in 4 games.

Who the fuck is Hugh?

apropos Pickford: His goal kicks are great sometimes

Lossi probably had the best start of any goalkeeper though.

Lössl?

Mignolet is comfortably the most talked about keeper on this forum, haven't seen Hugh wade in with his thoughts on him.
But thats fair enough, you don't have to get involved with every debate.

He did weigh in on Pickford when Everton purchased him, lambasting the fee and making all sorts of negative statements.

He's had a decent start, though, which is why Hugh (is that his name?) has been so quiet on him. One clanger and he'll be all over him.

I believer some members think St. Juste used to be on the old forums as Hugh, hence the moniker. I can't remember a Hugh over there, but maybe he was before my time.

Huddersfield Town keeper, 2 clean sheets in two games while making some amazing saves.

Also we signed a CAM called <enter first name> sabiri from Nuremberg for an undisclosed fee, 20 years old and scores quite a lot of goals, looks very good.

Yeah, I know who he is (former Mainz Keeper). I only asked "Lössl?" because he was named " Lossi" and I wasn't sure (could be the reserve keeper of St Mirren or an Airdrieonians hero /i :D )

edit: Sabiri's first name is something like Abdelhamid (?). I don't know much about him (it's Nürnberg, they are in Franken, Bavaria. Leave me alone with these feckers :D )

I heard a stat that West Ham have let in 92 goals in their last 50 games. Maybe Hart isn't the problem?

I'm not sure that's relevant. You need to see the bigger picture here.

Zlatan back confirmed.

no brainer really. To have him as a bench or rotation option when the CL gets serious and the fixtures pile up is a huge boost.

i do wonder if perhaps his injury was a blessing in disguise for us. For all that he was brilliant last year for us and 28 goals in 46 games is magnificant it was still quite obvious that we were playing with a 36 year old upfront.

There was a lot of talk at the time that he might not stay the second year and I reckon Jose probably told him he wouldnt be first choice this year.

With the injury though it makes perfect sense to spend the business end of the year here, he wont be relied upon but there will be plenty of games before moving to MlS next year.

I'd like to see Zlatan as a sub on for Lukaku, I'm not sure how two strikers will work.

They won't start together and when they do play together after a sub it'll be to throw the kitchen sink at getting a result, there's no problem.

It will be textbook route one like last season, just with two good strikers instead of one.

We've not played route one football so far this season, we've been devastatingly direct in terms of counter attacks but there's nothing of the hoof about our play. We might kick it long with big lads like Zlatan, Lukaku, Matic and Fellaini high up the pitch in the last few minutes of a losing game as a desperate plan b going forward but that's fine; if you are trying to be intricate and pretty at that stage of a game you've got it wrong.

Zlatan could play a deeper role behind Lukaku, he won't fit the counterattacking strategy.

Oliver Burke for (at least) 15m Euro from RB Leipzig to West Brom. He's a (scottish) talent yeah, but he couldn't make it at RB. It didn't fit with him at Leipzig. So he's back in England after only 1 season. At least he steps up the "ladder", now it's a PL team instead of a Championship team (Forest)

It was a strange move in the first place, but at least he tried it. Hope he can kick on, even under dinosaur Pulis.

Seemed like an excellent move at the time, he had offers in the Premiership but wanted to better himself in a different league and new country.

He moved his family out there so was clearly giving it a good go. Didn't work out, but at least he tried.

Interesting to see how he gets on under Pulis, still very raw but the Premier league will suit him more than Germany certainly.

No surprise to see a Scottish footballer fail to thrive in a highly technical league. See also Ryan Gauld. Young players of this ilk really should stick around in SPL or the English league (Leagues One & Two) to learn their trade.

Not sure Ryan Gauld has failed, he is still playing in the Portuguese top league.

Who was the last English player to be a success in a highly technical league? Maybe Canadian born, German trained, Welsh U19 national Owen Hargreaves?

Jermaine Pennant fairly embarrassed himself on his attempt.

He is not playing at all. I am sure Gauld could be learning a lot more about the game if he was running at the defences of sides like Doncaster or Bristol Rovers (which he is very much capable of doing), and not sitting on the bench at Sporting.

Who was the last English player to be a success in a highly technical league?
What on earth does that have to do with anything? Did I mention English players at all?

Aye Gauld is too talented to be wasting away on the bench or playing for the unders at Sporting. He needs a fresh start to see if he can kick on.
