We weren't dull last season, we were just terrible at converting chances into goals. Hopefully swapping Zlatan for the younger, more mobile Lukaku will see us improve on that. He should certainly see us score more against the lesser teams which we struggled massively with last season.

But all I want is a winning style of play, we need to start competing for the title again, I don't care if it entertains the neutrals or not.

I think Lukaku will get goals like Zlatan but will go missing as he tends to do. I don't see that much more goals coming from your squad with his signing tbh. Maybe if Pogba is freed up more perhaps, but we'll see.

So Matic is a Man Utd player as of today. Just don't this move from the player's perspective. Matic had a great season at Chelsea, had a great partnership with Kanté and now Chelsea are considerably strengthening a potential rival for silverware (Utd have bought a lot of quality players, if they gel quickly they could be a threat for the title). I get that 45M€ is a decent number to sell a DM but still, Chelsea had a good thing going.
It is also my opinion that Matic is a better all-round player than Bakayoko so lose-lose situation there for Chelsea (except that Bakayoko is younger and will get better but still a huge gamble from Conte).

It gets better - SSN reckon they want to spend the money on Drinkwater.

They'd need to sell 2 Matics to buy Drinkwater.

Don't remember Sidders forming part of a title winning midfield partnership but I'll bow to your knowledge on that one.

Short memory for you then chimp. He helped Reading win the Championship title in 2006.

I'm looking forward to seeing Matic at Everton in a couple of years. I think he will slot in well there.

Well if we're going pisspot, Andy King is on offer. Any takers? Form an orderly queue.... 25mill to Conte!

Finally got Iheanacho done.
25mill, 50mill buyback clause.
I'm ok with that. If he's worth 50mill in a season or 2 it means he's either A, progressed really well and we've had an excellent season or B, prices are so fucking ridiculous that he's now only worth half as much as Ulloa, but we're ztill in profit!

Imagine what he'd be worth if he could kick the ball with his right foot!

He's got 5 years to figure it out.

Mario Lemina signed on a five year deal for a club record fee from Juventus.

It sounds like a promising signing.

We were after him - like with Boufal they signed last season.

Hopefully from your point of view this guy has more of an impact!

He's either gonna be a revelation or insanely frustrating I'd imagine.
Ranieri wanted him last year but he wanted to see if he would get more gametime at Juve. A good option for box to box cos he has the ability on the ball. Maybe a bit too much because he'll try more showy (read risky) stuff when safer and even better options are there.
But for me, Boufal has been wasted so far (Puels fault or the players?), so not sure how Pellegrino will allow his more creative players to play. Lemina could just be asked to sit in front of the back four. I think that might be a bad idea.
A spine with Gabbiadini up front, Boufal behind and Lemina going b2b could be really exciting. Could be.

Central midfield is the weakest area in our team. So happy with this signing.

Now for a centre-back!

Boufal's biggest problem is beating a player once isn't enough, he has to do it again which usually results in him losing the ball. He needs to learn when to keep it simple.

Hart starting off his debut by conceding 4 goals.

A sign of things to come?
West Ham Utd have never been known for being well-organised in defence so it's entirely possible.
His dive for Pogba's goal was pretty unconvincing too.

What sort of things?
Did you see the goals/watch the game?
Which goals do you think were down to your favourite shot stopper?

He didn't look particularly convincing or commanding at any point during the game, he fluffed earlier only for Man Utd to somehow conspire to not score.

Pogbas shot from way out the box wasn't even fully in the corner, you would expect a supposedly top goalkeeper to do better. Harts dive look half hearted, he had given up.

Interestingly, Adrian was statistically one of the best shot stoppers in the league last season - can only Hart has won out on reputation rather than ability.

Being from a family of West Ham fans and with many of my friends being Hammers (poor me!), I can safely say that Adrian was shit last season, hence why he was replaced with Randolph. I'll give him some credit in that he was a bit better when he came back into the side at the end of the season but overall he's another one in the line of goalkeepers who can pull off the spectacular save but be found wanting with some of the other facets of goalkeeping.

Sounds a lot like his much more expensive replacement.
