Aldershot (and Boreham Wood, apparently )
Almost everyone I have spoken to recently have said that they will use their own judgment about socialising and mixing. Boris’s crew have blown any semblance of public trust; there is no point in regulation without enforcement, anyway.
I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that we need to learn to live with Covid, and roll with the punches, and we might as well start now.
End the shroud-waving, let’s just get on with it.

Apparently it's not really the fans in an outdoor stadium, it's the travelling on public transport, spending time in pubs before and after etc. Not just the 90 min's at the match.

To be honest the Tory backbenchers getting something right for a change and forcing Boris not to do much more. People are fed up of it, it's time to treat it like the flu and carry on with life, we can't keep restricting people's lives forever, it's been going on nearly two years now.
The Tory backbenchers are getting fuck all right. Just because they or you are bored with the whole thing, it doesn’t mean it won’t still fuck up the hospitals if it gets (more) out of control again.

Note; if you find yourself agreeing with twats like Steve Baker or Peter Bone on any issue you’re 100% guaranteed to be wrong about it.

Backbenchers only rebelled cos they knew Labour were voting with the Government. If they hadn’t they’d have been whipped and would’ve voted with the rest of their party like the spineless whelps that they are

I‘ve heard/read that sentiment quite a bit and it’s bollocks. You can‘t let a virus as virulent and contagious as Covid run riot when only 60/70% of the population are vaccinated. And you can’t tell the vulnerable to stay inside while the rest of us carry on as we like.

That said, I don’t know what evidence there is to suggest that football matches are high risk events. Has Drakeford or anyone else provided any to justify that decision?

so your solution is just to shut things down every winter forever?

Not a very convincing "argument". Thatcher LOVED it when she was personally attacked, because that was when she knew they didn't have an argument. :ds:

Well, they’re right but it’s also sort of their own fault. It should never have been a matter for the police who you have in your own home in the first place, but that aside it’s clearly unsustainable to start putting legal limits on socialisation every time rates of a virus that’s here and we ain’t getting rid of start rising. Particularly when everyone with a few brain cells is vaccinated up to their eyeballs against it by now anyway.

But clearly hospital pressure is a problem as well, and that’s maybe because we run our healthcare system at 99% capacity even in a good winter. And that’s because tories gonna tory.

400,000 cases a week, 1000 deaths a week- what's the mortality rate? No, forget about the mortality rate, let's look at the SURVIVAL rate: in every 400 cases, 399 survive. That's a 99.75% survival rate! We're supposed to trash the economy and put our lives on hold for an illness that more than 99% of people will survive? Fuck off, no thanks. :dk:

I wonder if you'd feel the same if it was someone you cared about with their lungs collapsing hooked up to a ventilator in the ICU

I admire your commitment to the cause, but it’s a shame you’re a Tory arselick because they are hideously useless, corrupt and have made us an embarrassment on the international stage. I feel genuine sadness when I look at what my country has become.

Absolute state of Labour and the SNP. And probably the Tories here soon.

If we can’t go through a winter without shutting things down, when the majority of the population is vaccinated, then when?

Its time to accept COVID is around to stay and get on with our lives. Those who want to stay inside and hide away are free to do so.

100% agree

See you at our place on Sunday (hopefully it won't get cancelled / put behind closed doors at two days notice like it has the past two seasons)

Strange agreeing with some but cases have shot up, yet hospitalisation and deaths haven't so not sure why we need to be shutting everything.

People are getting fed up with it now, only need to look at the protests in Europe last month to see further lockdowns are not the way forward anymore. Time to live with it, especially with the UKs vaccination success compared to other countries.

Only arguement for it is the not overwhelming the NHS. I don't agree with one comment that why should the vulnerable have to avoid going out while the rest can? Am sorry but why should everybody be locked away because of a few vulnerable people? People need the freedom to make their own decisions on what they should and should not do based on medical advice, not forced to do things with blanket rules covering an entire varied population.

Thanks, unfortunately there's NOTHING I can admire in ovine individuals who advocate the fools' gold of socialism and support a party that has left our country bankrupt EVERY time it has held office and currently has a front bench that would be more appropriately housed in a circus. I too feel genuine sadness when I look at the "educated" idiots being churned out by what we still pretend are "universities". See, I can be a pompous ARSE too, if I choose to be. :ds:

There's a difference between being arguably shit vs openly corrupt. You choose to uncritically bootlick the latter unfortunately - a real blot on your already heavily blotted copybook.

Genuine query, are deaths still being reported as a person having contracted COVID at the time of their death, or has it now changed? There was a woman on 5 Live a few weeks ago that had recently lost her father in hospital. He was admitted after suffering a massive cardiac arrest but happened to contract it while there, yet on his death certificate the cause was COVID. It isn't genuine to me if that's the way they are still being reported.

No one has been “locked up” at all really for sometime since shielding disappeared but I do agree we seem to be going around in circles - are they worried the vaccines won’t protect us enough ?

Anyway for example my Mum who hardly goes out got COVID - my dad and I who work etc haven’t (yet )

So it can literally be bad luck I guess.

Just make sure everyone is testing themselves regularly if they and isolated if they get COVID.

And anyone who isn’t vaccinated will just have to understand the potential risks they are taking and accept the potential outcomes.

Apparently they make up most of the COVID sufferers in hospital?
