Drew 1-1 with Cov reserves (they changed the whole team, from their last game. We don't have that luxury. We replaced the 5 or 6 that we could). Won 5-4 on pens.

Mugged them with a last min pen after they'd dominated most of the game.
But its also after they mugged us with 3 or 4 shocking tackles. One of which has put Stuart O'Keefe out for months. Really need that when we've got a squad of about 17 at the moment.

Apparently it’s a break, not sure what, but O’Keefe has broken something.
It was a deliberate and appalling tackle and the ref didn’t even send him off.
Glad we mugged them.

Big plus tonight having the game won by the half hour mark.

Got some more minutes into Morton and Bridcutt getting ten minutes after his injury as well.

Well were making history here, through to the 3rd round and a lucrative tie against Salford or Everton -we wish !
Still if winnings a habit we are on a good one till Saturday or next Wednesday. Port Vale more than a useful side and expect them to be up there come season end

We were well beaten by Sheffield Wednesday's second string. In all honesty, they should have had 4 or 5 easily, but for some good saves from our on loan keeper. Once again, we offered precious little up front, and I don't think their keeper made a single save.

I'm afraid that this will be a common type of post, even with Humphreys coming in we are 4 players short of being competitive in L1.

Was a decent game I thought, although that was our second string as we made 10 changes and had to really dig in a battle at times.

Morris was outstanding for you, good luck in the next round and although nowhere near as lucrative as it should be with no fans (or limited) I hope Everton do the business tonight to give you a plumb tie.

Be surprised if we aren't on TV against Liverpool - £125k if it is, then the additional sponsorship's etc on top of that.

I've not checked all this but apparently Liverpool play on Sunday so that would rule Tuesday out and their U23's play on the Friday so Wednesday is an educated guess. Depending on what side Liverpool decide to play, maybe even the Thursday as they don't play until the following Monday.

If it's Wednesday then we'll probably keep the Charlton game on a Saturday but if it's a Thursday, we'll try and have it put it back to the Sunday.

Got all that? Good.

Cheers mate, appreciate your comments. How long ago was it that we played you at Highbury, Tom Pope was with you and you won 5-3, it was a terrific game and no bulls... you forwards were mustard -make sure we play you next season !

Was there that night, Pope and Dodds were unplayable and Dodds scored one of the best goals I’ve seen live from the outside of his boot, but was a really open game. We actually scored 14 in 10 days beating Rotherham 6-2 and Argyle 3-1. Good side then, although got relegated at Highbury!

You’ve built a good squad though this season so should challenge!

Got absolutely thrashed by Bristol City today, 0 shots on target and I think the 20% percentage stat was probably optimistic. Gave up abround 50 minutes in and just put on a load of kids, but I think I'm back to worrying about the season again.

Got stuffed by Brighton's second team, albeit a strong one with Gross, Propper, Stephens etc

Looked OK going forward and forced plenty of corners but the defence was very shaky again. James Bolton to blame for at least two of the goals, but he was only playing because Callum Johnson was cup-tied.

As expected, the Liverpool game is on TV on Thursday night.

Their U23's play on the Friday and with the first team not playing until Monday night we'll probably see a stronger side than we normally would have done.

Some welcome money as well. £125k TV money then additional sponsorships to add on. Liverpool have also offered to pay for our Covid testing ahead of the game.

In normal circumstances and times, Wednesday's match against Everton would be one of the biggest the club have ever had. Everton are one of the 'greats' of English football and would have filled the ground with their own fans, but not to be. Sky are there so so money to be shared and in that respect its almost more important than the result - unless of course you progress through to the next round !!

I didn't watch the game but seen the goals on an end of programme montage type thing but it looked like a master-class in finishing from outside the box!

I'm assuming we switched it around more than we wanted to because I made it 5(?) changes and MA said he'd only be making a couple pre-match.

Think injuries and looking ahead to Sunday’s game v Charlton dictated our squad selection last night, though whoever we picked it wouldn’t have really changed much. Only when Van Dijk went off at half time and we were a bit more positive, because we actually had some of the ball, did we then cause Liverpool a few problems.

Unspecified injury to Morton was the worst part of the night, seems cup run will fund 2 signings.

Is he going to be out for a while? Didn't look like he was neccesarily started every game for you lot, has he been given a proper run out at this stage?

Started cup games and came on in the league games so just settling in. No idea on the actual injury or length of it but Appleton was not optimistic, big blow.

Waiting on scan results. A bad shoulder injury would suggest a dislocation - can't think of too many others?!

He only joined the day before the season started to be fair so he was probably still a week or two behind.

0-0 draw and defeat on penalties against Man Utd u21 puts them through, and means we need a draw against Salford to join them.

By all accounts an entertaining and evenly balanced game, goalless thanks to good keeping and last line defending as well as some wayward finishing (including a Dale penalty miss in normal time).

2 wins out of 2 in the tinpot trophy, usually don’t care but this year the prize money really matters so glad we won. Abit of a dull game, missed lots of chances 1st half. Newcastle were better in the 2nd half but we scored with a fluke of a free kick by Pickering.

Mansfield away for us tomorrow.

With playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday through to mid-December, these games take on even more of an opportunity to give players a breather.

I'd be surprised if we didn't rest the spine of the team and give those short on minutes another run-out as we did in the first game.

3-1 win at Mansfield has put us through to the knock out stages with a game to go.

A lot of changes and a couple of players playing out of position but we were a cut above and played some good stuff. Really pleasing and despite the changes we still looked organised and hungry to get the win. Disappointing to concede another set piece but Mansfield nowhere near us.

Jorge Grant controlled that game, best game he's had and is coming on leaps and bounds.

It's pleasing that the fringe players are coming in and not really making us look too disjointed. The quality will obviously drop off, that's what happens, but in pre-season we looked quite disjointed outside what you'd class as the strongest eleven.
