What was lucky about it? I had around 13 estus moving in to phase 2 and still had to pop an ember to make it

maybe not luck, but definitely not as much fluency as i'd have liked. it took me quite a few tries to beat oceiros, but that came after mastering his patterns and learning when to attack and when not to. nameless king was all attrition. i ended up taking critical damage every time i moved forward just so i could get more hits in and end the fight quicker. it was more a feeling of relief than achievement.

Same really, I did the usual 'get within one hit, panic and take shit loads of damage'. Worse attack for me was the one where he sends the shockwave thing, that looks exactly like the floor, in a direction then follows up with attacks. But yeah attrition is definitely the word for it, I was actually relieved to see him do his lightning bolt attack to that I could get in some hits.

Just killed the tree. 3rd boss down so that's probably the furthest I've got in any of these games now. So satisfying.

Also having a blast helping out others by dropping the white soapstone outside of it.

Nice, after the Greatwood IMO the game gets significantly better, opens up a bit ect.
How come you never got any further on the others if you don't mind me asking?

What armor is everyone wearing? Starting to get a little bored of my starting knight's gear and fancy farming/finding something different.

finished the game wearing the winged knight's set, though I also found the silver knight stuff useful.

done with the game now. ng+ isn't enough of a challenge and unless i'm missing something very hidden away, i think i've seen everything.

I beat Soul of Cinder with my Knight's set, just cos of some full circle, finish the way you started thing I fancied doing.
Now I mostly rock the Drakeblood top, Undead legion bottoms and various helms or gauntlets. Since my character is a female, half the cool armours are oversized on her.

I started NG+ expecting it to be on a similar difficulty to NG, killed Gundyr as he was morphing into phase 2. Gonna keep doing it 'cos I want to beat all the NPC invaders ect.

The whole game is about attrition for me!

I have just beat the Abyss Watchers, second time of asking - starting to get into my grove I'd like to think.

Cheers for all the replies regarding armour. I've got myself one of those dark swords now and the dark armour to go with it. I've also killed Abyss Watchers and I can purchase their gear it seems.

In the Catacombs now and the regular enemies have become a bit more difficult.

What kind of 'build' you going for Cas? Or just what stats you investing in?

Just going for a standard knight build really. Investing in strength, health, stamina and I put a couple of points into dex so I can use the dark sword.

Refine it so it scales in both STR and DEX, unless you don't want to of course, up to you.

I might look into that.

Beat Highlord Wolnir and Old Demon King last night. Died once on Wolnir because I stood in that black stuff and died in a few seconds. Demon King killed me the most out of any boss so far because I'm an idiot.

Defeated the boss in Anor Londor. Fuck, I'm shit at remembering names in this game. In that Irythill (fuck off names) dungeon and these lantern holding things can get bent. Took me a while to figure out how they were draining my health. I'm in the Profane Capital now.

P.S What area is everyone's favourite?

I always enjoy the castle areas in the games, when I think of Souls games I always think of some castle, undead fodder, knights to back stab and a dragon of some sort. So yeah Lothric Castle and Lothric High Wall.
I also really enjoyed Crucifixion Woods/Farron keep as it was where the game first opened up a bit.

The Boreal Valley was visually very impressive, as was the Profaned Capital and, of course, the
Kiln of the First Flame
, but I can't really recall too many areas that I especially loved spending time in. The improved combat mechanics and co-op opportunities are what kept me hooked. The areas themselves were fairly forgettable (reused Bloodborne assets and overly-familiar level design didn't help). Much of the experience felt redundant, honestly: like a retread of the original but with far less variety and with ever-diminishing returns. A great game, but not a great work: much like DS II.

As you may have guessed I am a very streaky, slow player when it comes to DS.

So by my standards I had a very productive weekend, beat the Deacons of the Deep and High Lord Wolnir.

Getting started on it now. Stuff is happening in the opening cutscene. I realised that I have no idea of whether the fact that I never played the other DS games will mean I won't have a clue as to what is happening in the story. A bunch of things waking up. They look like fuckin' pansies to me. Gonna go kill 'em. BRB.

Aw lame, now my PC has crashed. I don't reckon my PC is up for this kind of shit anymore. It's in desperate need of an upgrade... and I do intend to do it at some point. Maybe I'll wait until such a time before trying DS3 again...

Somebody tell me good shit to buy for my PC at good prices. I know nothing about my PCs specs or what I exactly want. I basically just want something that will be future proof against anything coming out in the next few years...
