So just to show that they're pretty much against us moving forward, the fans proposed a Norwich type funding where fans would put money together to assist in the training ground at least. They rejected it saying they don't want outside investment.

Then when asked on radio why they don't just put more money into the club (because they clearly have it) they came up with some bollocks that the Supporters club owns 8% (i think) of the club and if they invest then they would have to & they don't want to do that to the supporters.

How nice of them.
What a strange response from WAQ.

I still don’t trust Power’s motives. The recent lack of winding up orders and visits from the bailiffs may have taken the edge off, but any owner can only be judged when he’s left and laid bare his tenure.

The new fella we got in as manager, surprisingly, looks the bollocks. Now all we need is Eisa on loan in Jan and we’re good to go!

Nah, you're alright. We have barely seen him yet to be fair. It would depend on if / who we go for in January as to whether we loan him out I would imagine. If we did, I should think it would be to League 1.

Bristol Rovers could obviously do a lot worse than Cotterill in terms of a football manager but let’s look at this from the Perspective of a gas head, a popular manager who they have adopted as their own is removed to then be replaced by a man known for his allegiance and relationship with their bitter rivals.

It would be a kick in the plums for any football fan.

I remember Iain Dowie coming to us from Palace, the fans never really got on board and it was a disaster.
Ah Iain Dowie, one of the few footballers you could not say to “it ain’t rocket science.”

So, Gassy, how are you feeling now that Coughlan has the job? He seems to be saying the right things although his 'the ground and training facilities are good enough' was a strange thing to say until he said your training facilities are better than Sheffield Wednesday have. WTF is he on about? Do the owls have to clear dog shit off the pitch before training then? I think not with all respect.

Not quite sure tbh mate.

He obviously did well during his spell as temp manager, which is hard to ignore. But I couldn’t help be worried when he was talking about a player who just text him that he’s gone home because he felt ill, “I don’t know what if this is normal, I’ve never been a manager before so I’ll have to speak to the club and find out what the rules are” (roughly).

I’m more than happy to take on GC either for the rest of this season with the view to extend - or bring in someone experienced for the rest of the season for GC to learn the ropes & GC as assistant manager until he takes over in the summer.

2 1/2 year deal is a tad worrying - but I don’t really have too many complaints so far with what he’s done with the squad. Who knows, he could turn out to be a gem!

I must admit I’m also a tad concerned that when he signed he said that himself & the board etc all agreed on transfer policy and what the club needs to do and he has a long time in L1 so he knows players very well. So I’m wondering then, do we suddenly have money to sign players or what? Because it’s very quiet on that front so far.

Stadium & training ground - well, perhaps he was at Wednesday’s U-12’s training ground?

For now I guess it’s best to leave this be - there’s nothing he can do about it, they have enough pressure from the fans to do something and it cost the last manager his job so within reason, I can understand it - considering he’s just been given his big break by the same people?

In my view he was certainly the cheap option and one the board must be very happy about.I still think Chris Hargreaves is running the show and that is a plus.
Regards the training ground & stadium comments -- Well i'm not happy anyway -- But again I bet the board are.
Hopefully there are sufficient funds to bring in a striker and on yesterdays showings AJ needs help up front. Have to say full credit to both teams playing in those atrocious conditions. I have just about thawed out.

I think you're both right in that he's saying exactly what his employers want him to say.
Unfortunately, without an awful lot of ££££, which you don't seem to have, a new stadium isn't going to happen with all respect. The training ground is an odd one though, why buy the land and do naff all with it? I don't understand that TBH.

Did you see the announcement recently? It was the day after the Fleetwood win.

They came out saying that a deal fell through to put the stadium & training ground together - presumably they were renegotiating UWE but as always, we get told nothing.

Who knows what we’re going to do now - sadly there is very little positivity or hope right now. I don’t even know if we can afford a striker this month. Going by the lack of rumours, I guess not?

Jesus what a farce that was. I’d almost forgotten about that!

You should be able to get a bus from Wells to Bristol if you can’t get a lift at least? Although maybe not, first great western are absolutely abysmal

I do mate, nearly as good as your 'unplayable pitch' against Stockport! ;)
Aye but the difference there was the ref called the game off, rather than the stadium manager employed by Wycombe :ds:

I'll believe you, most wouldn't. Watering a waterlogged pitch IIRC, not that it matters anymore.

I remember the two coaches of County fans diverted to Edgar Street to watch a 0-0 draw between Hereford and Dale being unhappy bunnies, although one or two were amused at Rochdale's ex-County forwards failing to hit a cow's Arse with a shovel that day. (Wouldn't mind a Murray/Le Fondre forward line back though...)
