Rochdale are as good as anyone in the lower leagues for finding unwanted/ unknown players, getting them back on track and selling them for a nice sum.

Lambert, Holt, Dawson, O'Grady, Hogan, Done, Le Fondre....

They must be one of the few clubs to make a profit each year, surely?

We had a little spell like that between 2005-2009, selling;

Craig Fagan - £750k
Neil Danns - £500k
Wayne Brown - £450k
Jamie Cureton - £750k
George Elokobi - £500k
Kevin Lisbie - £600k
Mark Yeates - £450k
Dean Hammond - £400k

We spent £250k on Yeates and Hammond, but the rest were all freebies, and Cureton and Lisbie were only here for a season to make that profit on them.

If only we could do that now!

We tend to make a profit most years.

As for the transfer window, glad we kept hold of Bradshaw, O'Donnell and Downing.

I am slightly disappointed with the kid from Man City, but he could come and 300 goals.

To be fair, Le Fondre had been banging them in for Stockport for ages before Rochdale got him

Correct. ALF was/is County born and bred.

Just goes to prove we can attract intelligent footballers who anticipate learning and progressing at a well-run and managed club, even though it means leaving their boyhood idols.

FWIW - I rate Adam Le Fondre as the most lethal forward I've ever seen at Dale. Holty, Ricky, Daggers, Glenn Murray, COG, Scitty Hogan and Matty Done are all good lads who deserve their success as well, but first choice pick for a return (should I win shitloads of dosh on the lottery) would be ALF.

North End are his second team too, apparently his grandad supported them. My dad was good mates with Rob Clare and I used to go watch County quite a bit and he was injured one of the times and I was sat next to him. I was only like 8 haha

Get a grip were building a squad capable of kicking on if we get promoted instead of just going up and struggling at least thats what i make of it
When you can make as many changes as you did for your Swindon game and still win 2-0 you do not need him. It makes us look like we have zero ambition, we did not need to sell, for once we are in a decent financial position and didn't need to get rid of anyone. The only reason (I hope) we sold him was because he personally wanted the move away for more money etc. You can't force a player to stay.

It's just sickening time after time we sell our assets for absolute peanuts!!

600k is peanuts, when Posh can get 5.5 mill for a striker its a p**s take to clubs like us who are ripped off almost every transfer window. I know it's the way we work as a football club and we live within a tight budget, but its a utter joke 600k for the player involved in the most L1 goals so far this season with his assists included. We have been well and truly shafted all in all.

I wish Matty the best of luck but he may regret jumping at a large offer, it almost cost him his career when he thought Barnsley was the promised land a few years back, that didn't work out well at all. The grass isn't always greener.

It simply smacks of 'Rochdale have no ambition' it really does. It's split our message board and always will do, usually I'm happy for us to live within our means and do the right thing from a financial standpoint. Just when we don't even need to sell one of our best players it just all seems so wrong.

We signed him on loan. Seems like quite a good young player from what I have seen.

Best transfer window we have ever had. We kept all of our players apart from Afobe, got a good wad of cash for Alli whilst still retaining his services and brought in Clarke-Harris, Cole and Andrews on loan :D

Scum, it will be an absolute travesty if you don't get promoted now. It is a ridiculously strong squad that's been assembled, and a squad that I'm pretty jel of to be fair.

If you don't go up, is there a chance fat Karl will get the push?

It's so hard to tell as I can't see him being sacked as Winkelman is not the type but he may leave for another challenge. Question is who could we realistically replace him with that could do better?
I can't see us not getting promoted which is the worrying thing if we do not! Our squad will fall apart if as it is all geared up to promotion. There would be about 10 departures if we do not go up and fuck knows what would happen from there.

If you dont go up automatically with that squad, then frankly - anyone.

The best thing he has going for him is that he understands the team, chairman, academy, town and fans better than any other manager possibly could. Unfortunately, he is yet to prove his managerial ability completely by getting a promotion, hopefully he will do so this season. If not, I don't know where we go from.
