Likes: How a siren, a nod to our local heritage with the RAF and the Dambusters, also manages to piss off so many visiting supporters. Double win. Long may it continue.

I can see this forum will have a lot less things to moan about next season, *should we go up in a few weeks time.

*Not saying we are already there and promoted, there is still work to be done.

Any game against Swindon - We always lose... apart from last week of course! We've been hammered a few times, we have battered them and found Vigouroux turned into Lev Yashin, we've been 2-0 and lost 3-2... literally could sign Messi and Ronaldo and we'd still lose.

Uncanny, they have the same hoodoo over us. This season we also went 2-0 up there and lost 3-2, and in previous seasons have also battered them and still lost. Pretty sure they will have won every one of the last 10 games against us except for possibly a 0-0 i seem to vaguely recall about 7 or 8 years ago.

What can I say about that tinpot siren up at the San Sincil? All I can think of is them Imps hate change and are still living in the past. After all, IIRC, that awful siren first reared it's ugly head some time during John Beck's reign at the Sin Siro.

Still, I'm not sure that siren is any worse than goal music. If forced to choose I think I'd rather a siren than some crappy tune blasting over the tannoy every single time the home team scores.
You could only hear the siren in those days. Only Beck knew where it was was. Think it was either hidden in the long grass by the corner flags, or in a Bedford van full of whiskey.

Why does Division 4 get called Divison 2. We aren’t in the second tier. That my fellow forum members, is my dislike.

David Artell - The only coward of the 2012/13 team who bailed out when a contract issue arose for the squad, then since taking over at Crewe morphed into a shit Steve Evans with his ramblings and arrogance. Pantomime Villain with Vale fans.

Disliking him for bailing out when he was told he basically didn’t have a contract but could go to Northampton and have a bit of security for his family is slightly harsh.

Disliking him for his ramblings is understandable, I’m surprised his name hasn’t come up more often in this thread, but he’s no Steve Evans. He’s probably just the most football-fan-like manager in the FL. He just talks the same bollocks fans talk, rather than string of cliches, and will say anything to protect his own players.

He went Chester I believe...

It was the way he did it which was the worst part. Did a big churchillian speech to the players to get on with it and it will be sorted... then just didn’t turn up for the friendly next day!

Missed out on a promotion winners medal to add to his Crewe one the year before.

The siren has never bothered me , nothing wrong with references to local history . Forest play Robin Hood pre game FFS

Exactly, pre-game when it's appropriate. Not during Lincoln's corners in some veiled attempt to provide an advantage, which let's be honest is why it's played then.

I remember in another thread about it someone claimed that "air raid sirens aren't distracting". FFS that's the whole purpose of them, to get your attention as you need to get the fuck out of there.

Not saying it's responsible for every goal Lincoln have ever scored from a corner, but surely one or two of them a season are down to a defender daydreaming if he's got enough bread and milk stocked away in his family's shelter.

Because football only started once since sky bought it.

I remember the first time you played it when you scored against us, but we were already 3-0 up st the time so it did come across a tad daft.

Doesn’t piss me off though, think it’s good for atmosphere.

At the risk of being 'whoooshed', I'm genuinely amazed an air raid siren (or two, as it happens) are seen as a distraction. Next we'll be banning crowd noise at corners and penalties.

I had no idea is seemingly irritated people as much either.

What about those supporters whose PTSD kicks back in when they are reminded of periods in their lives that they were/are trying to forget?

At least you only have to suffer the siren if you go to Sincil Bank, I find Pompey's fucking bell annoying, but not as annoying as those 'mostly tinpot southern' clubs who try to emulate them with bells of their own. Crawley and Yeovil are prime offenders.

I've never been to Sincil Bank but I imagine its akin to sitting on public transport and having a daft bint sitting next to you having a pointless conversation about last night's episode of Eastenders at a volume so loud that everyone on the carriage/bus can hear.

Giving it 5 minutes before this gets deleted.

Crewe fans like to bury heads in the sand.

Its poor and to be fair think most of the Crewe fans on this message board have been unhappy with their stance on it earlier on when he was first found guilty.

I assume if they lose this case, they could face massive pay outs that would/could pretty much cripple the club? Man City have set an out of court fund to sort it but Crewe don't have City's millions. Not sure what the implications would be?

Its a strange situation because the Guardian and Mail are publishing all this but the local press don't appear to be reporting anything to do with it.

Yes it will very likely cause Crewe to fold.

If* found guilty of illegal actions this would not be covered by insurers and Crewe would have to finance any potential payments themselves.

The best bell was at Grays Athletic. The away end at Grays is overlooked by flats (similar to Orient) and some have balconies. Whenever Grays scored, this fat git came out and rang a fucking bell, like some sort of chav cuckoo clock.

Maybe my bitterness stems from the fact we lost 5-3 there once and I heard that bell five times in just over 45 minutes....

Crewe's behaviour in their legal defence in the Bennell case.

https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...-expenses-claim-crewe-legal-defence-boys-stay

I'm fully aware of innocent until proven guilty, but this doesn't look good.
I was going to post this as well but you beat me to it. The way Crewe have acted over this has been nothing short of an abomination. Fans defending the club and hitting out at journalists for reporting historical sex abuse is an absolute disgrace too. Yes we're all tribal and we'll defend our clubs, but come on...
