It's just a fad, they'll grow out of it.

Not in the slightest as It's never concerned me, although I do object to the hi-jacking a perfectly innocent word such as gay.

What nomenclature would you prefer?

I can vouch for that. Had the exact same thing happen to me. My pals were saying "take it as a compliment" but it just made me feel uneasy. I told the guy more than once to leave me alone but he wouldn't have it. In the end I moved on pubs, but know plenty of lads who would have swung for this guy had they been in the same situation

Feel uneasy ffs. The people who should feel uneasy about unwanted advances are women who receive them from heterosexual men.

I sense that gay Muslim immigrant Chelsea supporters who buy a diesel VW Golf and then don't use the indicators are going to have a tough time of it.

A nomenclature isn't required when there are perfectly adequate words in place to describe someones sexual orientation, such as homosexual, lesbian, bi sexual, trans sexual/gender and even people like me who are heterosexual.

Thou protesteth too much ;) :p

Never really looked at the origins of gay before, just took it to be because of the carefree/happy stereotype gay people have. But reading about it is interesting. In a sexual definition it was first hijacked by straight men who slept around alot. Quite some turn-around!!!

Even learnt a new term - gay blade

As for it being hijacked I quite often use gay and queer in their original meanings. Which can get quite interesting.

The only gay bloke I've met that I don't like is Max (?) from TFF, and that's only because he threatened to rape me for making a gay joke.
