They blew ourselves away in the summer financially, when they doubled what we offered Ebou Adams wage wise. So much so we decided not to bother matching it - Thats what I heard anyway.

Still always feel for the fans in these situations, Ebbsfleet - should they lose so many players will end up in a relegation battle and praying that worse doesn't follow.

Sad Times if its all true.

Sounds a bit similar to our situation. Although, at least once Glyn Hopkin pulled out, we stopped buying players and tried to reduce the wage bill. Ebbsfleet have continued spending over the last 10 months despite the fact their finances were poor. They took Cheek off of us for a reported decent wage at the back end of this summer.

Fingers crossed for the fans they work their way out of trouble.

Can't wait for Brad Friedel to save them.

The money troubles have stretched back further than this and over the past 12 months I don't think players or staff have been paid on time once. I only know this as one of their players, until last month, was lodger with someone I work with and he was paying them rent out of his savings nearly every month because he wasn't being paid.

All that's happening is a sugar daddy club no longer subsidises the wage bill. That is good news for other local clubs trying to break even. Gravesend and Northfleet were an established Conference team surviving on gates of 1000. Now they're an established National League side with gates of 1400 and a revamped stadium. I wish them good luck.

Does this mean that the redevelopment of the stadium will be halted? They've only redeveloped one side of the ground so far.

I mean, even speaking as an Os fan who's previous owner nearly destroyed the club, I'm having a hard time feeling sorry for Ebbsfleet here.

They were/are a typical example of a club spending far beyond their means and as long as the club itself doesn't fold then no harm has really been done. I would lump them in the same category as crawley, fleetwood and $alford (obviously the worst culprits here).

Hopefully they just become a conference / conference south yo-yo team and that'll be the end of it.

It's not as bad as it's been made out to be. Tervet has been waiting all season to post this story.

The owner will continue to own the club, he's just reducing the amount he spends.

He's put in millions, and got nothing out of it. Can't blame him for being a bit peeved. I'll post a bit more when I've not had a drink.

Can't wait for Salford to absolutely destroy us though. Well worth the £60 return ticket.

Good luck fella, Pools haven't forgotten the donations you gave us last season. If the shit hits the fan, I know the fans will do the same for you

Just stop fucking beating us though

Not 100% sure what to make of it. We all knew the owner would cut the amount he put in, so I'm not shocked.

He's gone from coming over for a few games a season, to being here for the past several months. Not sure what's going on. He cares, but it's not all his money. There's some underlying issues.

Our donations for you were superb. That's what it's about. You support clubs in need.

Unfortunately (and I can't blame them) not many fans will support us!

I think we'll be ok.

I wonder if the lack of progress on the theme park they were meant to be building in Ebbsfleet is playing any part in this.

I know your owner was one of the main people involved with that & its looking more & more likely the theme park will never happen.

The theme park plans are meant to be going to the secretary of state in january/february, the planners reckon if they get approved quickly it will be open in 2023.
Don't know the Ebbsfleet owners role in all that but he surely can't be scaling back his outlay because of it, if they get the plans in by early next year it's only 6 months later than their original date, his potential windfall from this is still years away.

His main interest is the Theme Park development. Any Fleet fan who says otherwise is delusional.

He won't Just drop us though IMO. He's still here, just not putting as much in.

Some of the business owners on the nearby industrial estates must have made a fortune on the offers they were getting. Would be funny if it didn't go ahead; the local roads couldn't cope. But something will be built there, probably another dull housing estate pretending to be a garden city.

Article today about Orient potentially looking to strip a few of those Ebbsfleet assets. Watching Cheek and Whitely closely but apparently not in for Adams?

How has Adams been for Fleet? The most talked about player down at the Orient for the last year. The hyperbole around him was a bit OTT in my opinion but he was outstanding for us.

Adams started off superb, but hasn't looked great lately. Like many of the squad.

Don't think many will be going to be honest. Cheek looks a definite, Whitely will gather some interest, but not sure on others. Lawrie Wilson will probably go.

Still under the impression that on his day, he's got to be one of the best, if not the best CM in the NL. As a ball winner, he is different class. I heard your manager had him playing further forward though which surprised me honestly

It was when he was playing further forward that he looked class IMO!

McMahon has come out and said that he doesn't want to lose any players, which is par for the course. Nobody wants to lose their better players.

There was a little snippet on BBC Kent where our owner has basically said we're in no financial trouble, but it doesn't really say much else.

The thing I don't understand about all this is, they're all getting paid in full. It's just late every month.

The most worrying thing is the club have said absolutely fuck all on the situation. It's all coming from the local journo.

I fear an absolute drubbing on Saturday. Can't wait.

Going by twitter quite a few players are pissed off with the whole situation. This tweet from Dean Rance was pretty funny though

And they have every right to be. Regardless of what they earn, this is their livlihoods. The fact they've carried on is testament to them. Not sure I'd still be at my work if they kept paying me late.

I hope we've got a few bids in. When we went tits up, you jumped on Whitely and Cheek (rightly so, it was an opportunity to strengthen). Now we're more stable and we desperately need quality in order to stay up, I'd hope we're maybe looking to relieve the wage bill a touch and maybe add to your cash flow a bit.

Wouldn't surprise me if we got Cheek back. He doesn't seem to be featuring much at yours. Whitely is a more unrealistic one but we're absolutely crying out for a player like him.
