90% they are down already but wins breed confindence and they'll wanna keep playing no matter who it's against. Sheffield United have very rarely slipped up this season but they need to be up for it.

Steady 3-0 home win on wednesday is my prediction

Well done on winning a trophy. Hopefully next season you will be celebrating a promotion from league 2 to league 1 as i dont think you have had a promotion for 40 years and its pretty certain your down.

Congrats Coventry! Thats 3 wins in a row isnt it? I dont know what there fixtures are like now but maybe a small glimmer of hope?
We're down mate, although with robins in charge we will be a decent shout for play offs next year. If he doesn't leave us that is.

Although I won't be surprised to see us upset a few teams who think we are an easy 3 points between now and the end of the season.

Disappointingly large crowd.
What happened to the boycott? Funny how people's opinions change when their team gets to Wembley.

I don't think we were boycotting anyway.

We have more important things to worry about than the integrity of the Checkatrade Trophy.

An incredible weekend. Seeing Coventry fans all over London was a sight to see.

Without doubt the best day following the club, nothing has come close.

I'll probably post something better tomorrow when I've sobered up!

Did you Cov lads run on the pitch, laugh in crying childrens' faces, then urinate on geriatric Oxford fans? Because if you didn't, you weren't doing it right.

Person all I feel the competition was a good thing and it is b*llocks a cup run stops you having a better season (although I am sure Coventry would have won league without cup run)

Sadly for me damage was done and it cannot be salvaged, too many die hards stopped going to it and cup has been rubbished too much now.....it needs scrapped.

Get rid of it. It's a complete waste of time and noone goes (apart from me going to Barnet because i'd never been, even though both teams had been knocked out already).

The last thing we need is another tonking off Norwich's under 6's, i'd rather it be off Exeter or Crewe.

Yes it's a joke cup but it is a real chance of getting to Wembley and winning a tournament so I don't get the hate. Clearly no-one wants b teams so it should revert back to how it was.

Scrap it. It was a bit of a laugh when they started it in the 80's, and some of of old clubs on hard times enjoyed the thought of wembley, and the smaller clubs, who had never been to wembley had a chance, but in today's modern football I don't see a place for it,,, a bit like the old anglo scottish cups and the anglo italian cup

Ahh the Anglo Italian Cup... still use that when bantering with the local Leicester fans about how we've been to a European Final!

Wouldn't scrap it though, great memories of winning it and is a rare chance to get a trophy for clubs like ours but not with B Teams and as it was!

Just scrap it.

The whole competition is a joke. Even the old format. The fact the draw used to take place while everyone pissed about on Soccer AM sums it up.

For me I think they should keep it, bin the 'academy' sides, try and regionalise it as much as possible, allow teams to play whatever players they like and increase the prize money/incentive for clubs to progress.

It was regionalised under the previous system, which meant we could never draw you for example. We only played Bristol City, the other year in the Area final.

Wasn't it brought in as a Tier 3 and 4 version of the Full Members Cup, when English sides were banned from Europe?.. I remember going to a game at Brentford in 1988 !

No they didn't. They're not complete bell ends like Orient fans.

The current format, is totally and utterly laughable - We got put in the same 'region' as Cambridge, Scunny and Middlesboro

None under 100 miles away.

So we're going from playing Newcastle in 1 season to possibly playing Reading u21s in the next. I really hope they scrap this wankstain of a trophy but you know clubs like Morecombe, Stevenage ect aren't gonna vote scrap.

Its been worrying haveing b teams in as it was rumoured as a way to get them in pyramid. Why not replace them with top half conference teams. Surely more would prefer chesterfield v wrexham for example than a academy team

A format I would like to see looked at would either be the introduction of teams from Scotland* or teams from the conference.

Even if you ended up drawing some random Scottish outpost like Peterhead, the novelty would garner a greater attendance than Reading U21s - Its just the logistics of say, Inverness getting Plymuff

Failing that, just introduce conference, C'North and C'South sides

I'd imagine they have enough fixtures with the FA Vase and the early rounds of the FA Cup.

The top 8 Conference sides took part in the competition between 2000 and 2004 I believe, so there is a precedent for that.
The problem with inviting Scottish sides is that the lower division ones have the Irn-Bru cup to compete in, which includes teams from Wales and Northern Ireland, and they would not provide much opposition to a League 1 side. Apart from the top 4 or 5, the Scottish Premiership is League 2 standard, the Scottish Championship is National League standard, Scottish League 1 is lower end National League South/upper end Ryman Premier standard and Scottish League 2 is Ryman League Division 1 standard.
