Callum Wilson and Patrick Bamford pull out through injury, so who do they pick instead? Cauley Woodrow???

Benik Afobe: 27 goals this season
Cauley Woodrow: 2 goals this season

Hmmm.......

Southgate again showing the country on how f'ing useless he is. At least we don't have to worry about injuries I suppose.

27 goals lol. Nice exaggeration of stats there.

Reed's in the U-20's squad, but yeah he hasn't looked out of place playing in the Premier League, so is more qualified than Chalobah.

I just typed out a big smug post as all the evidence I found showed 8 league goals and 2 FA Cup goals.

Then I remembered he played for MK Dons earlier in the season.

Blasted misleading stats. :brill:

(I do agree with your sentiment mind as Woodrow has looked pretty useless whenever I've seen him play).

Now Chalobah has withdrawn...

Was down to injury though, not choice. Missed our game on Saturday through injury and we've bought in a player on loan to cover the period he will be out injured.

Shame, was just getting into really good form for us, looked like he was ready for the Prem.

Good to see this thread again, the amount of withdrawals does concern me.

Read a few months ago I think Southgate and Hodgson stating how they wanted the Under 21's to be as strong as possible in the summer but I just can't see it happening. I don't know whether its players not wanting to play or clubs putting pressure on the players to withdraw etc. Very fishy to me.

Also you might be able to answer but last summer alot of people were raving about Patrick Roberts at Fulham, he started off the season getting sub appearances at Fulham but now hes rarely even on the bench, is he injured or not even worthy of a U20 call up?

He's with the U19s. And I wouldn't get your hopes up for the summer. Hodgson has said he can pick who he likes, but Southgate has pretty much said that he'll keep the squad the same with some from the seniors here and there. I would expect Kane, Chambers, Stones and maybe Barkley to go but that's about it.

Cheers, didn't realise the U19's played last night. I guess we'll have to wait and see. If the players you mentioned did go I'd be satisfied, I saw Martinez's comments a few weeks ago about resting Barkley. Fair enough if he was playing 90 minutes a game but half the time he doesn't even start.

I know they won but what a god awful team picked by Southgate.
Forster Caskey ahead of Hughes, Keane and Moore ahead of Stones, Woodrew ahead of Ings etc :conf:

I thought this at first too, hoping he was using tonights game as the test out a few players game and save the best eleven for the Germany game at Boro.

^ I'd imagine that's the case. JFC will probably drop out of the side for the Germany game, though he's looked very comfortable at that level to be fair to him, even he doesn't have the same hype/profile around him as someone like Will Hughes. Southgate seems to like him as he's played 90 minutes more often than not through their qualifying campaign.

Southgate pretty much said that he was going to give everyone a game over the two friendlies.

Well said Chambers.
"When I was asked, of course I was going to come and play
"There is a smooth pathway between the Under-21s and the seniors now and there was an opportunity for me to play, so I jumped at it because I love to play for my country.
"Players should want to play for their country at any level and I've played for the senior team a few times, but that would never make me want to stop playing for the Under-21s."

Luckily for Roy he holds that opinion, as he shouldn't have been anywhere near the senior England team, especially not as a right back. He just plays for Arsenal, so he got called up.

Not very, because we were left with Clyne. He'll be gone this summer and he'll still be a better RB. Said it all a long that he was our best full back.

He was picked because he's a good player, nothing to do with which club he played for.
3-2 up into injury time...

It's a very positive result I think, especially after coming from behind twice, not to mention how depleted the squad is. I know Germany are missing some players too and this was at home, but there's an obvious gap in talent looking at the two squads. I was not expecting a win tonight at all.

How did our goalie (Bond) do?

He was a Welsh international but decided to play for England - more high profile - but hardly going to get into the main squad soon!

I only caught the back end of the game after the Germans had scored their second. He looked decent enough. Not as steady as Butland with his hands, but maybe more so with his feet. I worry that we'll pay for a Butland mistake at the tournament. He's passed the ball straight to an opponent about three times since this campaign started, we concede from it so far, so sod's law an all...

Great win for England. I really think we have a great chance of winning the tournament if we include the right players. Wilshere and Sterling aside we should include all the players with senior caps.

My squad would be :

Butland, Bond, Johnstone

Jenkinson, Chambers, Keane, Stones, Gibson, Moore, Shaw, Garbutt

Redmond, Lingard, Oxlade Chamberlain,Ward Prowse, Hughes, Forster Caskey, Barkley, Chalobah

Kane, Ings, Berahino, Bamford

Full game here with German commentary. No idea how long it'll stay up.

Only saw from about 30 minutes in but was suprisingly impressed by how well we played. I had no idea Ter Stegen was German, genuinely thought he was a 30 year old Norwegian.

We will never send those players to a tournament. Especially with Paul Merson constantly bang on about Harry Kane being tired. Saying he should calm down in games, fuck me Merson that's his style you fat prat.

If we took the squad we potentially have available we could win the thing imo. Shame Barkley, Sterling, Kane, et al will probably miss out.

I think Kane will go. He's looking forward to it according to Southgate.
