With 3 jokers used, a 0-0 draw wouldn't be all that bad for us German folk

Olsen – Spain 1-0 Czech Republic (3 points)
Deschamps – Spain 2-0 Czech Republic (1 point)
Gullit – Spain 2-1 Czech Republic [joker] (2 points)
Zagorakis – Spain 2-1 Czech Republic [joker] (2 points)
Casillas – Spain 2-0 Czech Republic [joker] (2 points)
Klinsmann – Spain 2-0 Czech Republic (1 point)

Leaderboard 8/12

1) Team Gullit - 19
2) Team Casillas - 17
3) Team Zagorakis - 16
3) Team Klinsmann - 15
5) Team Olsen - 14
6) Team Deschamps - 9

With 4 matches left, it's looking very tight between the top 5. Deschamps are going to need a pretty storming end to not finish with 0 points here.

Noticably though, Gullit and Casillas have used all of their jokers whilst Zagorakis only have one remaining. Olsen and Klinsmann have done very well to stay in the chasing pack and now have the opportunity to maybe attack those without a double point barrier in front of them.

Also, I will announce the advantage task results tonight between 7 and 7.30.

Olsen – Republic of Ireland 1-2 Sweden
Deschamps – Republic of Ireland 1-2 Sweden
Gullit – Republic of Ireland 1-2 Sweden
Zagorakis – Republic of Ireland 1-2 Sweden
Casillas – Republic of Ireland 1-2 Sweden
Klinsmann – Republic of Ireland 0-2 Sweden

So this is basically going to be as you are, with either Klinsmann gaining or falling behind if there is an exact score somewhere. Could be a big game for their top end aspirations.

Positions and a little write up for each team below, starting with 6th all the way down to 1st.

6th

Deschamps - 11/12 completed, 1 wrong in 5 hours and 31 minutes
12/12 completed in 15 hours and 14 minutes.

Felt a bit sorry for G Dragon here. He fought the lone fight for most of this round last night. A couple of his teammates came to join him during the end but overall they need to function better as a team to challenge the others.

5th

Casillas - Puzzle completed in 5 hours and 5 minutes

Casillas plodded along for a bit with poor cufc17 left alone in the early stages. PaulHaddock's late heroics last night gave them a respectable time but they needed more of a team input here to really challenge the four above them.

4th

Klinsmann - Puzzle completed in 3 hours and 24 minutes.

The Germans will kick themselves for a slow start here. It took them a good hour and a bit to really get going at all. Excellent work from Craig at the beginning and Spirederman at the back end saw them to a good time. But they just lacked the team intensity for the first hour or two that the top 3 showed.

3rd

Gullit - Puzzle completed in 2 hours and 31 minutes

Gullit were let down here by a slow first hour where Ciderhead got on a roll but the others seemed to struggle a tad. Towards the end Smudge came in with some excellent input with Hodge and LR in supporting roles to carry them over the line in a strong time. What might have been perhaps.

2nd

Zagorakis - Puzzle completed in 1 hour and 36 minutes

Cracking effort from Zagorakis here. Magic got the team off to a storming start and at that point it seemed like there would only be one winner. But a quiet middle spell where they got stuck on 1-2 tricky ones just saw them slow up before a fast ending. Don Tonberry, despite not being able to spell Parc des Princes, was a good help as was Krazy8.

1st

Olsen - Puzzle completed in1 hour and 15 minutes

Pipping the Greeks by 21 minutes were Olsen. A simply superb effort from Dave and Cheese & Biscuits with some good support play from Murphy were the basis for success here. In particular, a mention to Dave who used his photoshop skills expertly to put answers in the crossword picture very quickly and was also excellent at working out the clues. At one point it was neck and neck with them and the Greeks but they were the first to get the tricky Arda Turan clue which carried them over the line. Well played fellas.

The top 3 will be able to see what advantages they have won between 8pm and 8.30pm tonight when the 2nd Game Round will be posted up.

Well done all. I enjoyed watching that advantage task unfold.

Will take that. Was never going to make up the extra 20 mins so fair play to Olsen. Not putting the clues in a crossword before Don did so wasn't a help but I think it was the clues in the middle that cost us.

I do have to bow down to Dave. The guy was electric.

I put in our thread that I would have been gutted if we'd not won that. I was so confident we had the best time.

If I'd have been on at 7 and taken the same time to complete it, we'd have come 3rd. Fairplay to Zagor and Olsen.

Gutted, not gonna pretend otherwise. Could only get on after 8pm and the other guys in our team had stuff on too by the looks of it otherwise we may have squeezed third.

Really fun round though that, very enjoyable.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was Turan, took me 20 minutes on that one.

I'm interested in what they put. It must be hard to get all but one answer in a crossword and find an incorrect answer to fit the space and the clue.

We thought Easier, one walks was Penalties. But after the second clue we quickly figured out it was arda turan.

I think they wrote penalties before the numbers per letters this morning. Then they got it around 10am

No change to the leaderboard then. 3 games remaining, the next of which is the pick of matchday 1's matches.

Olsen – Belgium 2-1 Italy
Deschamps – Belgium 1-1 Italy
Gullit – Belgium 1-1 Italy
Zagorakis – Belgium 2-1 Italy
Casillas – Belgium 2-1 Italy
Klinsmann – Belgium 1-1 Italy

Three 1-1 predictions and three 2-1 predictions. Even one point for a win or draw here could help make up some ground on others with it being very tight. Big game coming up here.
