The final will either be a tight defensive 1-0 for Dnipro or Sevilla are gonna smash absolute shit out of them 3-0 or something. No middle ground.

Universitario, Napoli
Benitez is a shit manager in fairness. And Higuain is at the right club in that he's not very good.

So Sevilla v Dnipro final on May 27th in Warsaw. Not the most mouth-watering tie and frankly disappointed that the big boys withered in the latter stages. I don't have a problem against Sevilla but they do strike me as boring while I don't mind a bit of Eastern Europe thrown in every now and then Dnipro really aren't anything special and probably wouldn't have made it out of the group stages had they been in a tougher group.
I do regret Wolfsburg not turning up against Napoli (let's face it, they're a far better side but just self-destructed) while Napoli shot themselves in the foot against Dnipro. The rest has been a whole big worry of having a Russia/Ukraine final in Poland.

Can see Sevilla winning this out of boredom. Really expected more for the EL this season. Shame.

I have to disagree with you here. Higuain is a very good player and has shown it with this season. I wasn't totally convinced with him last season I'll admit but he's turned it up this year and shown what a good player he is. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at Arsenal, where he was ORIGINALLY supposed to end up at. Also, I'm not going to just barrage you with numbers (I hate it when people do that) but 107 goals for Real Madrid is pretty good. He seemed inconsistent at the World Cup and he didn't perform to his max in some matches like the final but neither did any of the forwards really, so he can't be singled out.

I wouldn't say Wolfsburg is "far better" but they're better for sure.

Still shocked Dnipro have made it to the final, credit to them they do what they're good at which is remaining solid. Final could go either way, Sevilla tend to play on the counter attack but I can't see Dnipro being quite as expansive as the likes of Fiorentina. I think Sevilla will probably win it in the end, they've been excellent in the Europa League this season and to retain it would be some achievement, missing out on Champions League qualification in the league looks likely, so this gives them a 2nd opportunity.

Dnipro have done very well. Konoplyanka is a very useful player. I want Sevilla to win and expect them to do so. They've been the best team in the competition again. Unai Emery has them playing some excellent attacking football in this competition and La Liga. Always great to watch the likes of Ever Banega play when on form. Super player whose temperament has held him back from going to another level I feel.

I have a feeling this will be a pretty turgid final if Sevilla don't score a fairly early goal, Dnipro will be sitting deep looking to hit on the counter attack with the two banks of 4 which was so effective against Napoli. Fancy Sevilla to win it and perhaps an early goal will make it more interesting, can't see it being easy for them though.

Dnipro 0-2 Sevilla

Agree completely, I really hope Sevilla can score early and go on to win.

Fucks sake, I didn't even know this was on tonight. There's been virtually no coverage in the media.

Sevilla win it, like they do every year.

Decent game that, have been saying it since the start of the knockout rounds they'd retain it - just wish I'd put a few quid on it!! Oh well, congrats to Sevilla and Emry who is a fantastic manager.

Well done to Sevilla.

How will they do in the Champions League?

They will finish 3rd in their group and then go and win the Europa League.

I thought that but then wasn't sure if that rule was still in place next season...

How wrong was I about a boring final? Very decent game and I thought at one point Dnipro might pull it off, but Sevilla worthy winners in the end and they'll get Champions League football next season providing they get though the play off round. Great achievement to win it 2 years on the bounce, deserve a lot of credit.

So how do Sevilla enter the CL? Do they have to go into the playoffs or are they straight in at the group stage?

They go straight into the group stage because the place for the Champions League winners isn't needed (and probably never would be.)

Gotcha. Chance for Spain to boost their coefficient even more.

I wasn't aware they went straight into the group stage, gives the Europa League real merit now.
