As mentioned above the ticket prices aren't an issue for most people. This however......I have never, ever been more embarrassed and ashamed to be a Sutton United supporter. Years of goodwill literally thrown away for 30 dirty pieces of silver. Several Sutton fans are planning to boycott Monday night now. What should have been a pinnacle, the biggest night in our history has been severely tarnished

Wow, that's pretty bad. Sun probably do that with every high-profile non-league tie in the FA Cup, so are Sutton the first to "sell out" to this kind of deal?
Also making the manager give the statement because he's popular is spineless.

We sold out as well when we played Sunderland, but our chairman was a money grabber so he saw pound signs flowing.

Kind of torn on this issue. I can see why Sutton would want to grab all the money they can from this one off occasion but The Sun, really? After everything that's happened in the past few years anybody with an ounce of sense would've told them where they can shove it.

After the tripe The Sun printed about football supporters (amongst plenty of others) it surprises me that any club would want to do business with them, let alone expect the supporters to be fine about it. Reading the Sutton forum it seems the only other offer was Paddy Power which they seem to imply is equally as bad? Ok they do some pretty cringeworthy marketing stunts but they've not hacked the phones of the dead or made false accusations against dead football supporters.

You would have thought they'd have found a decent sponsor if they wanted a one off sponsor by putting it out for tender, no bother. I just hope that the money was substantial enough because there'll be some bad press coming Sutton's way.

The ticketing fiasco seems poor too, and it's gutting to think that some hardcore Sutton fans (with season tickets) won't be able to watch the match at the ground. Would have been a similar situation at Dover when we played Palace at Crabble but thankfully we had just about the right number of tickets - our organisation was equally as shambolic though.

Fair play to you, no football team should have anything to do with neo-fascist rag run by that scumbag Murdoch.
Glad we've steered clear of them.

How much are they getting? I mean, they've made a fortune off the FA Cup already this season.

Whatever it is it's not worth the price of our soul.

As for myself I'll be going on Monday, too many people have made sacrifices for me to go so it'll be a two finger salute to them not to. Plus although I have negative emotions to them at the moment I still love the club. But I plan on joining in any protests.

Hopefully this is the last PR gaffe

Just don't buy the shirts if they sell special ones like we did. Some people will but take a stand against it.

I just don't understand why the current sponsors have passed up what is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity for their Company to reach a UK, a possibly worldwide, audience.

Personally, I wouldn't want us to go down the same line. Not just the Sun, but anyone full stop. I think you need to look beyond the £ signs at this stage of the competition given the amount of money already made and show a bit of loyalty to the current sponsors. It'd be an incredibly awkward conversation to have when you want to drop them for once game! Short term gain, but perhaps long term pain if they take it the wrong way!

They'll have been paid handsomely - it's a local waste firm, so chances are a global audience isn't really much use to them.

The stories The Sun printed after Hillsborough were despicable, and I have absolute sympathy with family members who saw their loved ones portrayed in that way. However, I think the outrage at the paper on Merseyside seems a little forced and overdone now to be honest.

Mackenzie and the writers involved moved on years ago and the paper is ultimately just another arm of the Murdoch empire. Liverpudlians seem happy enough to keep shelling out for their Sky subscriptions every season, which seems bizarre, if not a little hypocritical.

So having played yesterday, I'd imagine Sutton's management will be able to scout their next opponents in Munich tonight.
That's why they rearranged our game to last night - so they could pop round the corner and jump on a flight. We charged them three points for the privilege :)

Everything Wrong With Modern Football™
we've sold all 3210 tickets for Burnley away. At the start of the season that was seen as a good home crowd, and now we're a little disappointed we weren't given a bigger allocation!

We're becoming a Huge Club™ like Grimsby.

And baring a high volume of sales in the next couple of days, Burnley aren't exactly heading towards a sell-out, which makes the decision not to give us more a little disappointing.

Could have easily sold 7000 I reckon.

Ah well, the discussion has been done to death on various fora.

Am I right in thinking the only area of the ground Burnley have sold out is the bit in the stand they share with us, funny that. Could have moved them like Ipswich did with their st holders and not be so bloody difficult.

Why should they?

Would have been a nice gesture to give us the whole stand like Ipswich did as they are going several thousand empty seats around the ground by all accounts.
I know they don't have clearly but have moved some regulars from that stand as we've got more than the normal allocation for their prem games.
O well done now.

Good luck to both tin potters this weekend. Lincoln avoiding defeat will also see a roll over in a £1k game of last man standing I'm involved in so would get me back in with a chance for an even bigger payday!!

Hope we give Burnley a good game, we have enough about us to give it a real go but not really expecting much more. As long as we don't get thrashed and pick up any needless suspensions or injuries, it's thank you very much for the FA cup million or so and let's now concentrate on getting out of this league. The trophy isn't that important either, albeit only a few games from Wembley.
