Were there really some Lincoln fans who CHOSE not to go and watch their team in an FA Cup fifth round tie?

See earlier on this thread about the talk of ticket allocations, kick off times etc. Maybe not choosing to necessarily, but clearly not being too unhappy at not being able to go.

I wonder if the Lincoln fans who were happy about going out were really that honest, or just didn't give themselves any chance...

Who knows, maybe they can go one further and top this day and some of those who missed out can get a chance to go...

And in no means have you got a little ahead of things there!

I think there is next to zero chance of it happening (assuming you are referring to the idea of an all non-league semi-final). I just love the idea of it when people are talking about an all non-league quarter, which is dreaming a fair way already

In fact if it does I will walk from Sutton to Lincoln (or the other way around) wearing a sign saying how wrong I was. That's how sure I am it won't happen.

Arsenal will knock four or five past Sutton.

Then again, I said Dagenham would beat Guiseley today, c'est la vie.

Big win for Lincoln - well done!

A pub full of Mansfield and Grimsby fans clapping a Lincoln win can't have happened before!

Seen Millwall promoted twice but nothing has come even remotely close to beating Sunderland at Old Trafford to reach the FA Cup final.
I've seen us beat the big boys in the top flight and hang out on top of the table, and it still doesn't compare to Old Trafford in 2004.

My best mate (also a Lincoln fan) has a big night do for his 30th on QF day. Not sure how I'm going to break it to him...

Don't think it'd be wise for him not to turn up to his own party!

I echo what has already has been said.

A simply incredible result. Delighted for everyone connected with Lincoln. All those years in the dodrums where worth it in the end!

Enjoy it. Bask in the glory.

This is mental. Well done Lincoln. I gave you no chance and I was wrong.

Not sure the officials would have allowed that without goal-line technology, but it was there so it doesn't matter.

I wonder how all the Lincoln fans who chose not to try to go to Burnley feel! You never know.

Hope the draw is kind. Hope Sutton are somehow in it too. I'd love to see you both somehow draw other teams, get through and then play an all non-league semi-final at Wembley!

Prize money takes a big jump at this stage too. £180k! And it's got to be next to impossible for Lincoln to not be on TV in the next round, so another £247k there. All in that goal was worth something like half a million depending on the draw etc.

Somehow find a way in the next round and that will be more or less a million on top of that! (prize money, gate receipts, and presuming the losing semi-finalist prize money)
All QF's are on TV apparently, and no replays this year either. Not sure what that TV fee is?

We had made more than £1m before we'd even kicked a ball today. It's monopoly money, really. It's ridiculous.

There were probably a few who didn't bother trying too hard to get ticket, which was understandable. Only 500 went on general sale, which was one per person, bought in person, only. Very few aren't at work on a weekday afternoon!

It's not the same watching the highlights on MOTD after a big cup shock anymore. Back in the day it was Des Lynam, Jimmy Hill and Alan Hansen and you wanted to hear what they had to say about the shock of the day. Now you have simpletons like Trevor Sinclair discussing it, all presented by Manish Bhasin. It's also not the same due to the fact you can watch all the goals as they go in on the website.

In short, let's go back to the 1990's when we used to be on regularly and everything was much better.

Agree with Master D. Lincoln's cup win isn't as good as Woking's giant killing at West Brom of the 90s.

Danny AND Nicky Cowley are so good AND clever that they got invited to be in the studio on Match of the Day.

They're going to get poached, aren't they? :err:

Danny looked much better with the beard. That's kinda put a downer on it for me.

Yeah he looks about 12 without it. Poor choice but at least Nicky stood firm.

MOTD has gone to his head. Win in the quarter final and he'll turn up with a skinhead and a neck tattoo.

Question for Lincoln fans.

Are you still hoping for a big "glamour tie" at somewhere like Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford or would you prefer Millwall at home to give you the best chance of progressing to Wembley?

Oh, and any fan that takes promotion over an F.A. Cup win, especially as a non-league team, needs their head looking at! Winning the F.A. Cup is an amazing, unique feeling which beats any promotion hands-down.

Has to be United away. Matt Rhead vs Diego Costa would be fun though.

Costa would either score 4 or 5 - or get sent off in the 1st 20 mins for diving or punching Rhead.... I'm guessing it wouldn't be him scoring the 4 or 5 though....

Definitely agree with the last paragraph. Even if they got promoted at best they might consolidate and push up the leagues over 10-15 years but it's not guaranteed. Going to Wembley to play in a fa cup semi final and possibly a final with Europe thrown in is a once in a life time opportunity for most fans.

An awful screeching woman commentator in the Boro v Oxford match. Bring back Tony Gubba.

Was fucking terrible wasn't it. BBC has an obsession with diversity over ability. Perfect example was when they banned all male panel shows, which is form of discrimination in itself.

Millwall (or even Middlesboro, who are crap) at home and a chance to win and get through to Wembley or do you want United away in the QF for a real huge payday but you'll get well beaten. I'd definitely take the United money and run if it was me as you'll be going to Wembley for the trophy anyway.

One of the big boys away either of the Manchester sides would be great (if Man City get through of course!) as they will probably give us an allocation bigger than sincil bank holds! Having said that Man United charged £46 for the 4th round game, a lot of cash for me to find to take myself and my daughter but I'm sure I would!
