2-0 , didn’t go as was working but sounded like we did enough.
Exeter at home off.

Oh FFS I was looking forward to going up this season. No chance doing that on a Tuesday night now

Thought we were good value for the win today. We made a blistering start, as we tend to do, but this time we capitalised on it scoring after just 30 seconds, Matt Rhead (in for the dropped John Akinde) bundling home from Bruno Andrade's cross. That allowed us the luxury of sitting back and picking Carlisle off on the counter and we had 2 or 3 good chances to extend our lead, Harry Anderson, Matt Green and Lee Frecklington all going close. Saying that, Carlisle had chances of their own and forced a couple of good saves out of Vickers, while it looked like they also had one come off the post? We killed it off at the end, Akinde coming off the bench to steer home into the bottom corner, Andrade again the provider.

Thought it was a professional performance from ourselves and, in the end, our quality told. Bringing Akinde, Shay McCartan and Michael O'Connor off the bench shows just how strong we are. Harry Toffolo, Frecklington and Andrade our best performers for me today, although as good as the latter is, he's still got some work to do on the defensive side of his game. Most of Carlisle's chances came because of his failure to track back. Still, hell of a player going the opposite way.

Latics with a solid away performance at Maidstone to see us through to Round 3! Never looked in danger. We could do with a bit of cash to strengthen in January, so a big Prem club would be great ta.

That seems a little optimistic. I'd be surprised if you are not in the hat for the next round.

It’s the only thing they can win in.

Their league form is most amusing

No real upsets in yesterday’s ties then. There’s always at least one big upset at this stage so that means at least one of either Gillingham, Grimsby, Swindon and Tranmere will have egg on their faces come 4pm this afternoon. Hope it’s not us.

I might end up regretting saying this but I can’t see us losing today, very confident of a win which is a strange feeling given our terrible away record and should we lose I expect this post will be quoted later with a fair bit of ridicule. :bg:

Think we’ll lose today tbh. All the signs are pointing to Chesterfield’s first win in 59 games.

Ffs. I'm blaming you and Les for this one!

Has everyone forgotten they won at Billericay?

Grimsby don't sound like they're pulling up any trees today. The snippet I saw on the beeb a few minutes ago was hilariously bad.

And with that they score!

Chesterfield have given it a good go and caused us problems like you'd expect from a minnow in a big FA Cup tie but we've taken our chances.

Jolley, do the decent thing and haul that Clinton fella off.

So selfish, with Embleton perfectly placed for a simple tap in :told:

Bunch of fucking wankers. I’m glad I leaving this lot behind next year and I don’t have to watch the utter shite served up for the last 4 years.

Our lack of quality without a few regular starters is alarming. Got to use the supposed £600k left in the budget in January.

Comfortable in the end and we became the wasteful side. We've not had a good draw for a while so maybe it's time, but I'm not sure Fenty is that lucky.

Clifton? Hope you enjoyed his winner there mate! He is rapidly becoming a fine player for us and really great to see a homegrown talent coming through. Bossed that second half and Town fans in fine voice.

Wasn’t at Prenton Park today as I’m far far away, but it sounds like Southport were more than worthy for their 1-1 draw. So well done Southport. The replay will be be interesting as the home support should out number the away support for the first time time in recent meetings.
WTF Swindon?

We were shocking. We are in a run of really poor form at the moment, with key players either missing, or playing through injuries. Without Banks and McCullough our midfield is nowhere near good enough.

Southport were pretty basic in their approach, physical and direct, but deserve a replay, which I am far from convinced we will win. The atmosphere will be more intense than the Oxford City game and Southport are a more awkward side to play against.
