Just a shame for the first half hour we looked a bit too timid against them. After that was a very credible effort. Good entertaining game that.

Wrong formation as their wingers got all that space once 4-4-2 and Manny is on we look a different animal and unlucky not to get a replay.

Play like that last 60 minutes we will be fine this season and do well. Manny makes us so much better.

We won’t face anyone as good as that all season and the positive is we didn’t crumble as we did against Lincoln after the early set backs so that’s positive.

Bit harsh that today Adam, considering you know, a league above, the goal was offside.

It was a decent performance, can’t see us getting through now though.

That’s my only criticism today, we should have completely gone for it because it felt like our only chances to get through, replay does us no favours.

Bollocks was it offside, we should have had a penalty for handball too then in that case

No it was offside, like I can say for certain, 100% offside by around a yard.

That’s why all our players were complaining.

Are ya just trolling or are you a child? Clarification would help.

It was a yard offside.

Go away and have a look at it for yourself and you’ll see. If you still think it’s onside you either don’t understand the rules of football, you didn’t go (nor did I but see it live but on replay from Martin shaw - our in-house Mansfield guru) or you’re daft.

I ddi say in the post lower that it was a good draw against higher opposition, just a shame to again not be able to hold on.

Keep it going as we are and we’ll do fine.

More to do with the hope that with no names our fans wouldn’t actually recognise any of them for their scapegoating

I have no idea what happened today but at least it was only the cup. Our first 11 though which is a bit worrying.
I wouldn't be too worried. We've had a couple of 45 minute spells in which we've looked like we can beat anyone. You just got unlucky in that you also didn't get one of the many 45 minute spells in which we fall apart.

On their day, Grimsby are easily the best side in this league.

It's just not their day very often.

I wouldn't quite go that far but one thing it did show on Saturday is that we do have it in us to compete with the best in this Division. Just need to make those performances more regularly in the league though.

I think our ceiling is huge and some of the passages of play we've produced have been second to none in this league but over 90, Mansfield were by far and away the best we've played. If it wasn't for McKeown / Collins and some substandard finishing, they could've easily put 10 past us. No other team has been anywhere near as dangerous. We're a couple of windows away from the finished article but we've seen more positives than not IMO.

Wouldn't mind drawing Grimsby tonight. it would be like Barca v Man City (at times) style-wise. None of that disgusting hoof ball Cowley stuff. Proper football.

They'd be mad not to stick it on the box.

If we can just keep in this until January, then sign Josh Lelan in the January window then I honestly* think we can go all the way and win it.

*Funily enough I’m not actually being honest despite my bullish claims.

It’s a toss up between Lelan and Danny Mayor but Lelan just edges it.

You're right he does, the difference being Lelan has proven himself at a decent sized club whereas Mayor hasn't (yet).

We have one great half for every 4 average halves and 5 shit ones. If we can score goals more consistently than we have been doing, we can easily finish midtable.

Mayor is massively overrated to be honest, he’d struggle to even make our bench and wouldn’t have a prayer of getting in our first 11.
I’d rather have Scott Vernon back to be honest.

Just to recap then, the following League Two teams will be in the draw at 7pm this evening.

3 - Ebbsfleet or Cheltenham
4 - Hampton & Richmond or Oldham (tie played after the draw)
5 - Swindon
6 - Mansfield or Charlton
11 - Grimsby
18 - Lincoln
21 - Danny Mayor
23 - Oxford United or FGR
24 - Tranmere or Oxford City
28 - Newport
36 - Morecambe or Halifax
37 - Carlisle
38 - Southend or Crawley

So only six are definitely through, though that could rise to seven this evening, and a further six facing replays (or seven depending on Oldham). None have beaten League One opposition, though Mansfield and FGR have replays.

Sunderland and Portsmouth are still the highest ranked teams and biggest names in the tournament, though I'd prefer to avoid either of them and have a better chance of making the third round.

There are a few non-league teams still in the draw, but not that many, and nobody from below the National Leagues. The following teams from National Leagues North and South will be in the hat, alongside Hampton & Richmond and Oxford City already mentioned.

7 - Woking
12 - Chorley or Doncaster
15 - Southport
17 - Chesterfield or Billericay
20 - Stockport
32 - Sutton or Slough
33 - Guiseley

Of those, Southport are the lowest ranked, being the in the relegation zone in NL North, while Chorley, Woking and Billericay are chasing promotion and the others are mid-table.

Winnable tie on paper for us with Chesterfield or Billericay, can't ask for more than that in the second round which means we will lose and get knocked out!

Woking at home. Decent chance to get to the third round for the first time since 2010.

Yep can’t really grumble with that draw, there were quite a few home teams drawn where I was like ‘no please’ so happy with that.
And if it’s Billericay then it’s a nailed on TV game.

If it's Billericay vs Grimsby, is there some way they can both lose?
