I knew we were going up that season after that Norwich game. Absolutely bossed them and I seem to remember they were in or around the playoff spots in the division above.
Yeah I thought missing the pen just before half time would give Norwich a massive lift but we just came our second half and battered them.
Funny thing is when we were in the same league as Norwich I can’t ever remember us beating them, they always had a bit of a thing over us yet then we play them when we are a division below and tear them to pieces.
Same as Leicester actually we used to be in the same league as them loads of times and I can remember a couple of draws (once when we were 2-0 up with 10 mins left) but I can never remember beating them then they turn up here 2 leagues above us as the cup holders and a second half pounding gives us a 3-1 win.
That Leicester game is up there in my top 3 or 4 best ever BP atmospheres it was mental that night even in the Main Stand.

We were two divisions below Norwich that season and knocked them out of the League Cup over 2 legs. Beat that!

Anyone but please. I'm hoping we get Bromley away, Torquay away someone like that. Phil Brown hates the cups, literally makes no priority of it at all, remember him last time round just playing fringe players and some yoofs regardless of opposition. That home loss to Chester in the 1st round was indicative of what Phil Brown thinks of cup competitions.

The last thing we need is someone like Bedfont Sports coming to Roots Hall for what, for them, should be a routine 2-0 win, just heaping more misery and despair on what is becoming pretty fucking unbearable.
The same thing applies to the FA Trophy, although at least with that nobody notices the results.
So if brown doesn’t prioritise the cups, what does he prioritise :animatedf:

Aye get through to the 1st Rnd proper.
Then we can have a good old dingdong.
We've had a very, very rare success against a team from the North East and our reward is another visit there. I thought these rounds were regionalised.

I can do that I reckon, we knocked Sheffield Wednesday out over 2 legs that season and not only were they 2 divisions above us but they were the highest ranked team in that round as they finished 7th in the Prem the season before as the teams that qualified for Europe didn’t enter until the next round.

Oh and just for good measure the next round we then knocked out Leicester City who were the Cup holders. :ds:

Chesterfield once knocked out Wolves, Man City and West Ham in successive rounds if we are doing League cup memories that noone else cares about on an FA Cup thread.

Some of us just like to reminisce about the good times to remind ourselves that we weren’t always shit. :bg:
Also It’s not as bad as in the league 2 section where a match thread got turned into a debate by Devon Lad on whether eating fruit or eating meat is worse due to how many insects get killed by us eating fruit. :mell:

We should do a League Cup exploits thread here just so the tinpot clubs can bask in the reflected glory of the big clubs down here. It would be mostly the brotherhood clubs telling stories and Wrexham recounting their games in Latin / olde english because it was so long ago.

Verily he did droppeth one in the top corner frometh Trundle diddeth.

Chesterfield really need to spend over a decade down here. Some of their fans need to learn some humility.

Wasn't an upset but funny that you guys so far and then got knocked out by the first good team you guys played. Of course Chesterfield went onto play in one of the greatest Cup ties ever.

First good team, dont make me laugh- You were shit, we just froze at that terrible ground of yours.

Then you got beat by Middlesborough, a team with an incredibly dodgy defence. We'd have beaten them.

You froze at the mighty Saltergate but would have coped with a packed Old Trafford. Right oh.

Just remembered why I have you on ignore.

Good that a game against us was your highlight of your semi final cup run though. You enjoy your memories.

Has me on ignore but answers my posts directly :dk:

The best thing about that game was how your tiny little Wrexham cocks got all turgid at your cup run but then you got knocked out by a team in your league, making your efforts instantly forgettable to everyone else in the football world.

Wrexham getting all excited but having their hopes dashed by a superior Chesterfield team. That has a nice ring to it. Wonder if that will happen again anytime soon?

Some of these new-ish posters aren't half tedious. We now have a clown from each of Chesterfield, Grimsby and Scunthorpe to join that one from Halifax.

Come back chipmunx all is forgiven.

Something was needed to balance out the welsh clownage on here.

You’ve gone into a significant amount of detail in your reply if you have him on ignore (who wouldn’t have the muppet on ignore). Very impressive mind reading abilities.

Love it when people who have the debating ability of Harvey Price call others clowns / muppets etc. What it usually means is I cant really argue with what you are saying so I'm going to resort to insults and strawman arguments.

I know. I made the mistake of looking at the content. I was curious.

I dont know why I did it, and I will always regret doing it.

I went to watch them the other week against Selston and they look a good side.

We are and barring something drastic we should gain promotion to step 4 for the first time in our history.
Grounds been ready for years just never had a team to cross the finishing post.
We have Ben Hutchinson and he cant get in the side!
