Managed to sneak a win in extra time. Both scorers bagging their first for the club. We're in the hat.

Looks as though it will cost us our keeper for a couple of weeks as he has concussion. Young kid, Jasper Sheik, got his debut to replace him. He is really well regarded around the club but the plan was for him to go out on loan to learn his trade but our back up keeper got injured so needs must. We will probably get an emergency keeper on loan again.

Where’s no-one outside of northamptonshire thought some irrelevant derby was worth watching and there were at least 5 or more games on the face of it better for TV again the cameras got lucky with their pick.

I’m struggling to think of a cup embarrassment for Mansfield in my time, sure it’s happened but maybe not too bad considering I cannot remember it, now I’ve said that tomorrow will probably be the day.

Southport in 1997 was one of my first games i went to, lost 2-1 at home.

Those who had an issue with us only having 3 stands now would be up in arms, back then we only had the old west stand and half the bishop st, there we no stands behind either goal

other than that, losing at home to FG in the first round is the best i can think of

We've had more than a handful of embarassing upsets on tv, but yet another one. Very dysfunctional at the moment, even with no fit strikers as an excuse it wasn't very good. I think that might be a manager ending result, not in the fact that Brady is under pressure yet, but its the type of result and performance that burns up all of the good will up that would have kept him in the job if we do go for a long bad run.

Im sure a few of our lot wanted us to lose today to end MT's reign as quickly as possible. The performance against a side 3 levels below us was very worrying.
Lincoln will tear us a new one on that showing

Utterly abysmal. Not booed a team off under Brady until tonight. Fully deserved Kettering win, we’ve all been there haven’t we, not a lot to be said.

Defeats yes but not as such in way yourselves and Huddersfield were beaten and it was a refreshing couple of games.

Normally your in awful form and lose because you just not a good side at present and normally it’s the league side gets lots of chances and misses them or non league side blocks everything and they take their chance.

Kettering especially gave everything last night took game to Northampton in large spells and made it a very good game.

Fair play on the large crowd for it though I don’t know if Carlisle say drew Workington (same situation, proper derby but other side so low it realistically isn’t on radar) whether we’d get masses more

Yes, I will agree with that. Definitely had a few cupsets where the team below just hoofed, dived and did everything to slow the game up and it wasnt like that at all, both goals were very good headers, especially their teenage academy prospect who made a great run and perfect comtact with the pool. The tamworth long throw fiasco goal they were not. A team that looked much better than their league... but honestly being outplayed by a team 4 leagues below makes it worse.

Sometimes you have amazing memories knocking Liverpool out of the cup, and sometimes you ARE the liverpool, just got to lump those results when they come. However, this happened to us only four years ago against Oxford City, we are very suseptible to being turfed out by non-league teams.

Not won a FA Cup or Carling cup game for going for 4 years. An embarasing record which contrasts with how well Brady has managed to get us to out perform our budget consistently for 3 years in the league. As I said, the Oxford City result didnt lead to Curle losing his job immediately, he laboured to Februray, but it had the same effect by evaporating the memories of the Wembley playoff win immediately, and getting rid of that little grace you may have gotten if you lose 4 on the bounce in what is a very well financed league.

If we don't have a good turn in form, the fans will now not have any patience. The injury record is obsene, but this is going into the 4th year of being injury stricken, its more than just luck at this point.

Not that i'm sure anyone else other than a miracle worker could do any better, the 7000 gate was a good turn out but it is basically ground capacity. We are literally at the limit of ourselves in the structure as our club. My dad turns 70 in two weeks, he was barely at secondary school the last time we were above the third tier. We don't have an ownership to make ourseleves any better than we are, and we never really have had. I don't even feel anger and frustration at the result really, just a miserable acceptance that i'll never see anything better than being a fairly embarassing bottom tier football club in my lifetime.

5 years ago we lost 2-1 to Maldon & Tiptree who were a level below Kettering at home and on that BBC Sunday highlights thing.

Carl Fletcher had been in charge for a month and we'd been really, really shit under him and not won a game.

At the final whistle I said to my mate, don't be suprised if he was sacked in the coming days because we were shocking and sure enough three days later he was gone, so yeah these types of shockers for league clubs can lead to managers losing their jobs and managers losing alot of credit they have.

I don't have much faith in us getting past Boreham Wood later, but we shall see.

Er, we only lost once in six Conference visits to Woking (four wins, one draw)…
There was me sure I'd been there loads of times and only seen one win! Let alone only six visits!

Ah well, at least that slightly more favourable
record continues on, long live an easy ball out the hat!

Edit: Also as mentioned, obligatory fuck Liverpool and all the other big club arseholes who couldn't help take yet another thing away from the 700+ clubs who enter the FA Cup for their own greed and convenience. Well done, what a sad little life.

Our second string struggled against a solid if unthreatening FGR side. Main highlight was a thundering volley from Fraser Horsfall, I know that "Van Basten-esque" gets overused but you'll know what I mean. Main lowlight was the piss-poor organisation by the club who didn't expect a crowd of that size, and meant many of us had to break in to closed-off areas just to be able to find a seat (see Bolton fans, it happens to us too)

Quite a lot of changes from Clough today, playing quite a few of those who needed minutes back from injury Tuesday.

No Gregory or Baccus at all, hope that’s rested and not injured.

Thinking about how Weston have been screwed in this round - no TV coverage, no replay, got me wondering whether they couldn't revise the rules so that you don't play a replay if you are in the same division, but otherwise do.

Hmm Mahon has taken a big gamble today for Curzon playing a very offensive starting 11 with 5 forward thinking players and two tricky fast paced wide men.

League wise I’d called for it at home for a while because we play a perfect away tactic of 4-3-3 but struggle to score at home then finally turned it and won 4-0 last week.

But I’d expected us to favour our away counter style vs a side 3 leagues higher. I wonder if watching someone like Kettering and Southend taking game to opposition has made him decide to just have a go and sod the consequences

Magic of the cup over in Tameside today. Kids armed with silver foil FA Cups and signs saying "Lucas Akins please can I have your shirt?"

I would have watched that one. Shame it's not on TV. What is the point in it being on Sunday if it's not live?

Extended highlights.

I can understand why it isn’t on really, you will have been there yourself many times and the harsh reality is the club doesn’t have much of a non league scrapper fa cup team about it……ground too nice, pitch too nice, the locals have all gone to the pub to wait for the man united game later than turn up.

A game where the crowd is 3/4 away fans playing on a pitch worthy of the FL doesn’t appeal to to cameras.

Yet we were part of one of the best early round tv games a few years ago.

With gates of only 300 odd including away fans Curzon will get good cash today with 2000 away fans

Don't remember the pitch being that nice when they beat us! Sutton have a good pitch yet that's being shown...I'd say they were less of a plucky non league side seeing as they spent the last three seasons in the EFL but then it's Birmingham..

Sending off killed it really part time sides ain’t going to come back playing with 10 men over an hour and a goal down……..Lady Luck just didn’t fall for them now onto really keeping right players fit for Wednesdays game

I can't work out whether that hit his arm or his chest. Seemed harsh.

We’d say chest they will say arm, either way ref is buggered but once pen given it’s a red.

Only surprise is usually in fa cup games the non league side gets a lot of blatantly biased referee decisions didn’t happen there.

We just took all our attack off now just saving for Wednesday in league

Hard to say on the red as was down the other side of the pitch, though those at home watching on dodgy stick said it looked harsh.

With or without the red theres little doubt of the outcome, and it was always pretty straight forward.
