I do the same on the non league section on the other forum although hardly ever now as I can't really be arsed about it now most of the big boys have got back up.
What are you on about, Halifax are still underachieving down there...not sure if their fan interaction is still like Carver and hellogregory's though

Yeah I don’t think we could be accused of not crossing the ball enough in that game, but the point about everything we do being veeeery slow is a fair one.
We're laboured. The few times we don't turn back inside and just keep forward momentum we look like we can tear teams apart. That's down to coaching. Maynard is prioritising safe possession over cutting through teams and turning them around.
Brchnall did the same. Luke Williams from his very first pre season friendly at Basford was ultra focused on attacking, I watched him balling at his players to push forwards, might and day difference in approach, it just looks superficially the same.

But thats the point, it was doing the same thing time and time again and it didn't work, Jatta forced Ripley into one decent save from it. Surely if its not working with someone big like Jatta you try what we did with Stockley and get it long and hope someone can pick up the pieces of it for instance?
The crosses are slow to come in because we play inverted wingers who have to constantly turn inside onto their good foot. Last season Jodi Jones was whipping them in early, behind the defence and it worked really well. I've no idea why you'd take a winger with 24 or so assists and plonk him on the wrong side with a 6'5" striker who's good in the air and can stretch to poke them in on the ground, has pace to burn but not utilise it.

Luke Williams sure was good at the attacking side of the game whilst at Notts. No inverted wingers with no defensive responsibility.

Aka The Entertainers. I loved it but...

So many good draws for the L2/NL sides. Don't think there is a bad one amongst them.

I’ve just said the same, though shame about salford, especially for morecambe and bromley.

Certainly more exiting than wigan at home

We spent most of the time in the pub before Saturday discussing our dream draw and unanimously decided on Everton away. Properly gutted about that.

An incredible draw for the 6 L2 and 2 NL teams still left. Can't really pick out an obvious dud amongst them.

Millwall v Dag & Red
Liverpool v Accrington
Chelsea v Morecambe
Man City v Salford
Tamworth v Spurs
Newcastle v Bromley
Leeds v Harrogate
Hull v Doncaster

Doncaster probably got the worst tie, but even then it's relatively local and they should be able to take a couple of thousand fans, plus it's winnable. Do feel for the genuine Daggers fans though, that away end will be full of West Ham fans looking for trouble. They'd be wise to restrict ticket sales to ensure that doesn't happen, even if it means they only take 500.

Yes and no doubt Man C v Salford will be on.

Sure Morecambe played Chelsea the other year too?

We went up with the second best defence behind Wrexham. We were chronic last year because we didn't have a keeper to the standard and didn't upgrade a single defender until Macari came on loan and he didn't really bother the first team until November on a regular basis.
Williams did play a mentally high line at times but with Bass, Dedeau, Platt and Ness I think he'd have got us into the playoffs.

Trying to compare Williams’ ability to set up a defence to Maynard’s is sort of pointless considering the latter’s has only been any good with a completely new set of players bought for him. With the previous ones they were both as bad as each other.

It wasn't so much the ability to set up the defence more have Nemane and Jones as terrorising wingbacks that either don't want to defend or can't defend.

Plus comparing the National League with League Two is also pointless. We had so much possession and when we made the inevitable and frequent defensive fuck ups the quality of the opposition rarely punished us.

We go up and between the recruitment team and Williams they decide the likes of Slocombe , Chicksen, Rawlinson , and the rest were good enough. When it was apparent they weren't at Sutton on the opening day  Williams still persisted with the same style and high line until he left.

With the old one is was hard to be anything other than bad, when Maynard came in the damage was done , confidence shot and the mould was set defensively, that was obvious.

I'm very happy with Leeds away. I can get the No 36 at the end of the street for £2.

Ours is a bit Meh but hopefully we should sell out the away end and it would be novel playing away at Hull on a Saturday afternoon rather than a Tuesday night, possible chance of getting into round 4 too.

4 of the 5 goals at Grimsby arrived in that fashion from the left wing
