Comeback of the day.

Ran into a bloke running with Lewandowski, Robben and Sane front three, all with attribute cards. Took me a while to come to terms with that, after 7 in game minutes I was already trailing 2-0 to Lewa and Robben finessed shots from the edge of the area. So I did what anyone would do at 2-0 down and switched to Defensive. Managed to control the tempo of the game, he was a great counter attacker but was kinda average everywhere else. Managed to pull one back with Higuain, however another finessed long shot from Lewa made it 3-1. Gomez pulls a goal back on the brink of half time, trail 3-2. Start the second half on fire, by the 63 minute mark Higuain completes his hat trick, Mertens and Hamsik also add to the score. 6-3. Lewa completes his hat trick for 6-4 which was dreadfully defended by me, 20 in game minutes left so I just shut the game down playing it safe - although Higuain still missed a 1v1.

Noticed he seemed to struggle a little bit defending dribbling, I can't dribble for shit, but Gomez's 16/16 has to be a new record for me! Mertens also got a nice assist doing two men.

Nice change from the ultra defensive, seven men behind the ballfest that I've had for most of the WL.

18-7. Waiting for the insane difficulty increase that has to happen.

Edit: Difficulty level suitably increased. Played a bloke, Forshaw147, few top 100 finishes, found myself 3 down at half time. Changed to 4-3-1-2, came back to 3-3. Extra time he did me, sadface. 0-2 after 90.

18-9 another insanely open game, 6-5, he had Poulson! at left wing and I genuinely could not deal with a wide target man.

18-10 now. What a fuck up.

First game on after the patch, won 4-0 with two from Afobe and single strikes for Akpom and Lookman (See that score LOTAL).

His striker was Immobile.

I started off very well for the first week or so, but now I've just turned to shit. Had some good packs though including Vidal, got over 300k but struggling to find a team or formation that works.

Had a few cracks at the Draft, won it first time with Van Basten, IF Neymar and Yashin, who are probably the best players I've used yet.

Might just play Squad Battles from now on, surprisingly quite enjoyable when I had a go when it first came out.

I'm also after a new formation. Been using 4312 which is great offensively with the overlapping FBs getting in space, but poor at the back with no CDMs and was shipping a lot of goals to both AI and online. Went to a 4231 which is much better defensively but seems to lack penetration in the final third. Might give 352 and 5212 as above a try to see if I can get a balance.

Been playing for a week and have 50k coins which is nowhere near as many as I want to get some big players in. That money purely earned from bonuses and games played. Thinking about investing in players for marquee match ups ahead of EAs announcement then selling them after the four games are picked. I'm thinking Atletico vs Barca and Liverpool vs Man Utd as two of them this week. Anybody else do this as a way to build up coins?

I've only been playing the Alex Hunter game but it does seem as though the ability to defend has got much harder. The AI are a threat in virtually every attack. Also, it is just me or our ground through balls much weaker? Anyone within 20 feet is okay but playing them across the park doesn't seem to be an option anymore....?

I think I've learnt how to defend now, finally. Knowing when and how to use the jockey and teammate contain button is keeping me in games and keeping clean sheets.

Only downside to this new found defensive prowess, every time I play online I get a rendering crash. I've been winning 5 times in a row and 5 times in a row FIFA has crashed with a rendering error. Wondering if the game's fixed. When I'm losing my CPU has no problems prolonging my misery until the final whistle. They said the new patch will help, well it doesn't. My graphics card is lower end but should still be able to handle the game with the RAM I have and processor. Any ideas? Costing me coins and soon maybe my pad if I keep chucking it on the floor in frustration.

Trying going with a 4222 formation. Two physical CDMs shielding a standard back four (I have Wanyama and Kante), 2 CAMs out wide and 2 up top. One a false 9 and a quick striker to get in behind. Both FBs on 'always overlap'. Set the width to about 40. Get a good keeper and give him a chemistry style. I have an 80 rated keeper but plays more like 90. I'm shipping much less goals with this set up and creating good chances with the FBs getting in space and pinging in crosses, Dani Alves is a beast in that role.

The defending in the final third is back to being exactly like last years meaning most defending is back to being control a DM (Bakayako) and run into the back of the player. The defending in the box is ridiculous with the amount of blocks and the tweak to shooting accuracy brings in some utterly stupid positions.

Midfield play is normally dead with driven balls forward to the three attackers who have pace whilst the other seven sit deep in ultra defensive high aggression tactics. This is essentially the current state and whilst it's beatable it's just an absolute bore of a grind.

I only played a few games during the week and finished in the Silver 2 tier but I logged on this morning to check my rewards and it had placed me in the top 100 so I received 70k and some mega packs.

Restarted the game but didn’t buy anyone or get any free transfers in.

Set up a scout system and been training what I have sat 3rd in league 2 both top scorer in my league and have a great keeper at 52 .

Changing to 4-3-1-2 if I'm losing at half time or if I'm not winning by about an hour. SBC Queresma is coming on as a sub every game and the guy is immense, get him. Griezmann and Mbappe are other subs for Team A and Gomez/ Alaba and Mertens for Team B using a player fitness on each after.

Do these fuckers actually test anything? I thought Sigames with FM were bad with buggy patches but they are like the Real Madrid of software developers compared to EA who are probably more akin to the Leyton Orient of the gaming world (sorry Llamas)
