Next week against port vale would have been a good laugh for a last game in fairness, it should be an open entertaining game.

I can see both sides going for it, there’s nothing about port vale for us to fear and they’ll be the same about us, though i’m sure they’ll be looking to avenge the 4-0 loss at field mill earlier this season.

won’t be paying a tenner to watch it mind

League 2 game of the day clearly. I was hoping we’d give some young lads like Campbell-Gordon and the keeper Scott a go today so hopefully we do that here. If as I suspect we release Pope then should let him start one final time even if it is just behind closed doors.

Other than that good luck to all the promotion chasing sides. Have to be honest I’m rooting for Morecambe. Nothing against anyone else but really respect the job Adams has done there and they are a rather impressive side so be good to see them make it.

Christ, the concourse areas are a bit tight there for them selling it out! That and Accrington will be a culture shock.

Hope Morecambe do it, great story that will be.

We’ve not got any full backs for this! Monty banned and the other three injured so assume we will have to play Olagunju and shove Smith RWB and Wozza LWB.

He doesn’t seem to want to try changing it more than he has to Clarke which surprised me, I expected big changes today and none that were unenforced.

Want us to win to keep the momentum for the summer and finish on a high (and put that 4-0 to rest) although in fairness that result probably triggered the change that was needed.

Depends on changes either side may make but I’m sure both expected far better this season and can’t wait to get it over and done with and start working on next season.

Well look at us, unbeaten in five. Tranmere and Forest Green are both playing teams above them in the form table.
What could possibly go wrong?
It's going to be a long week

To be fair they are used to slumming it in league one, there was the famous* thrashing in the snow at our place a few years back.

*Admittedly only famous in Exeter, before the Grimsby fan pipes up

It’ll be an interesting end of the season with today’s results. If I were a neutral I’d also be rooting for Morecambe. There can’t have been many predicting them to finish in the playoffs, let alone in with a shout of automatics, at the start of the season.

I thought Forest Green would have tailed away but today’s result must give them a massive boost. Talk about pulling out a result when you need it. I guess it all depends on which Oldham team turns up.

Our first game with Oldham was strange as they didn’t want to play (cos they’re soft) kept moaning/delaying saying the pitch was too hard, had too much snow on it and then claimed it was too foggy to see etc.

The second go at that game was a mad 4-3 with both teams wide open and could/should
easily have been more goals at both ends.

Hopefully next week it isn’t as eventful as either of those two games as it won’t be good for anyone’s health. The fact it’s back in our hands is a surprise as our form has been shite for a while now, yesterday’s win was pretty much straight out of the blue tbh.

Here is a query for any legal experts on site: Mark Cooper was sacked as manager of FGR towards end of season while they were in a play-off position.
Compensation for sacking would, I expect, be just the remaining month of a five-year-contact.
But in Cooper's contact there was a massive mega incentive bonus deal should he have got FGR promoted.
Legally can he claim that Bonus, should FGR win play-off final?

A few years ago at start of Cooper's reign as FGR manager he was not the most popular person in the camp.
His method with players was divide and rule. After one reversal he talked to the playing staff and said on that performance he could be sacked BUT then added he didn't care because he's get £1/4 million compensation.
That was a lot of money for a non-league club.
The rest is history, FGR got promoted and have become an established EFL club.

Game that FGR must not lose and even a draw could allow Exeter or Salford to leap frog them to play-off place.

The good news is that FGR have never lost to Oldham so must start game in confident frame of mind. Bad news is that FGR are playing away.

Oldham’s current form is slightly better than that of FGR but they have lost last two games while FGR did win last match against another promotion rival.

Ebou Adams will be missing from game, serving his red card ban. He will be badly missed, although the ban could work in FGR’s favour. Ebou has been carrying an injury for past few weeks so a break from playing might help speed his recovery, leaving him fitter for the play-offs [should we be one of the four play-off teams].

It’s not often on final match of season that one or two teams from 2nd to 7th could conceivably miss out of promotion push. But they have points in the bag while teams at 7th & 9th [Exeter & Salford] must win and pray that Newport, Tranmere or FGR slip up.

Next week is going to be real fun! there will be a lot of squeaky bums on these boards and a lot of non religious people on their knees praying to the heavens, i can't speak for other teams but in our case we have finally hit a bit of form just at the right time, 3 wins 2 draws 1 loss in our last six games and only conceding 1 goal, southend away is going to be tricky as they will want to go out with a bang but hopefully we have enough about us to get the point we need, that said i will be sat like everyone else for 90+ minutes with my arse going thrupenny bit half a crown as my old dad used to say.

Contract law is not my area, but as Forest Green weren't in an automatic spot when he was sacked, think Forest Green would have a strong argument to say no.

Nerdford will beat us, so its down to Exeter, Forest Green and Newport to take care of their own business as our lot are currently on the beach.

Excellent. Almost worth its own thread.
Sort of pleased no fans allowed though!

It wont affect us or tranmere whatever salford do as we are both 4 points ahead of them.

Typical. Live on sky and the pubs not showing it. ..oh and I dont have sky!

This will mean the only team I haven't watched live on the TV this season is Bolton (I was stuck at work for the first game).

Not sure if we are on the beach but we don't have too many playing for a contract next season so I can't see a win at all costs mentality being the norm but I would expect a professional performance.

I imagine our game against Stevenage may rival our game yesterday for some of the lowest quality you'll ever see

Dont know how much each team will get from sky, but it will be less than the 100k plus that i follow would have produced for the club.

You could get a Now TV day pass which I think costs the same as iFollow, and then you'd have access to Sky Sports for the rest of the 24-hour window too.

Thanks for the info dedwardp. I'll look into that.

I get iFollow for free for the home games. The club were nice to us like that but I'm not going to complain about paying £10 to watch it.

If you get free iFollow of home games, you will still get it next week.

Live on sky will add a bit of pressure to Bolton and may give Crawley a shot in the arm to perform. I’m pleased we aren’t on sky.

Maybe the Sussex branch of the Bolton Supporters Group is organising a celebration outside the ground. I'm sure that will help.
