Stockport County.
Your second goal came from an exact copy of those dangerous crosses we had that you reference there. The big difference was an intelligent striker like Quigley knew when to gamble. He played really well yesterday and he looks in the vein of form that made him successful here. I don't think Stockport ever saw the best of him and I believe he is a better player than Wootton. Seems clear that Challinor doesn't rate him.
He was great for us for a spell, he terrorized Bolton in an FA Cup Replay classic and his general work was always appreciated by me, he played in 95% of our very strong winning run from late Autumn to late Spring. Fell out of favour a bit towards the end but I honestly think it's something off the pitch with him and Challinor. He barely even got given a kick in the first few games.

He's a much better player than Wootton.

Being the only team to get beat off Hartlepool says it all really.

I expected your club to be up at the top end of the table if I'm honest.
I'd happily have him back for another low budget promotion tilt down there

That Bolton match was quality. First time I saw you and thought you looked like you could be genuine title contenders.

Have Stockport got promoted yet?

Surely they will have won more than they've lost with a squad of their quality..
There’s a long season ahead. Still plenty of time for change and I wouldn’t expect the top 7 to look the same in May.

January as always presents the chance for clubs to “go for it” if they’re in a good position and can strengthen or lower down and playing catch up, but signings aren’t always for the better.

Don’t think anyone so far has been that good that we could say they definitely will or definitely won’t finish in a certain position.

Could there be a bit of a scramble for Quigley in Jan or is it pretty much just Rochdale that he'd sign permanently for?

Is there a rule that you can't play for more than two clubs in one season or is that not applicable in the case of loans?

I’m sure there is yeah. We had it a few seasons ago with Jerry Yates. League 1 clubs were interested in taking him for the second half of the season, then Rotherham had injuries so recalled him and played him in a Championship game which fucked his chances of another loan move.

Quality away day, that. Got there early as I'd booked my 14 year old nephew in for a surprise virtual reality experience for his 14th birthday, at a place in the middle of.town. Decent match of course with a quality atmosphere and what felt like an injury time winner because of the relief. Some "tasty" shenanigans afterwards with a rotund County goon taking a couple of straight rights to the dome after goading a Town fan into a fight. Said nephew took a swipe at the guy's rather apparent gynacomastia and was called a virgin in return. Lovely stuff. I am in no way condoning football violence but if you go looking for trouble and you find it with interest, that's your own fault

Can be argued he's past his best but I'd probably put him in even if I doubt Curle's tactics will suit him.
Its his organising thats needed, Others can do the running IF nothing else.

We've already seen a midfield pair of Cooke and Featherstone, you could pull two random blokes out the crowd with more legs.

Colchester were terrible on Saturday, particularly in the first half including a time wasting keeper from minute 3. They were a little better second and should have gone ahead had Nouble not fluffed his lines. We scored a bit of a fluke from a nicely worked move and were easily the better side but despite dominating possession we don't look consistently dangerous and don’t create a raft of chances. That said, I will take where we are given the manager and squad churn. I still think we're very much a play off chasing side and we haven't got anywhere like hitting our stride yet.

It was a average performance, (except the first 15 which were superb) but it’s another three points in the bag and personally im feeling very confident about the Stags right now, form says it all.

Agreed, that was more my point, we can be below par and still pull a win out of the hat.

With crawley away followed by 3 home games hopefully we can keep motoring along at the same pace.

It's time Colchester went down and I doubt they'll be missed.

Hursty's got a lot of time for Stockport going off his post-match, delighted with the win against a side that's in a false position was his summary. However, it's quite hilarious that his interview seems like a direct response to Stocky.

Firstly, he makes no apologies for shithousing as it's something he felt we haven't done too much despite others doing it to us (Northampton and Carlisle, we're looking at you).

He then goes on to give massive credit to Kieran Green, would be interested to hear what you thought of his performance? He's one you've highlighted a few times as a bit of an average signing. Picked on Saturday to give us that bite in the middle of the park in a tough match and it's done the trick this time it seems. Not a BEEF either, I realise your criticism of him was more that he wasn't a particularly exciting/technical/expansive player and not necessarily that he's crap.

I couldn't pick out loads of individuals on Saturday, my first thought was Green was brought in for the exact reasons I said in the summer his strengths were. Shored it up. You'd be going with just Holohan, Clifton or Hunt generally and Green was picked for the things I said he was good at.

Waterfall impressed me for you, what it says on the tin, everything in the air he ate up, had Wootton on toast. Clifton, Khan, Kiernan energetic lads who knew the script, worked hard, wouldn't say the lit up the show but they did what they had to do in and out of possession.

Generally it was a really solid, well drilled performance from you, something Hurst has had you doing for months now.

We were erratic, tried to force it, made basic errors.

It was one of those games where I thought the away team played it to a tee, a bit like we did at Bradford the week prior. There's an expectancy at home, suddenly we were trying to be too clever/dominant, didn't work and the crowd got edgy because of it.

Yeah all fair and pretty accurate based across the whole season so far. One thing I would say is that Khan has shown gimpses of being able to steal the show, but also very aware that you're probably going all the way back to his Yeovil days to get that kind of form consistently. Jury very much still out on Kiernan who I think has been very fortunate to keep his spot in the starting XI but he fits in with that well drilled/Hurst ethos.

Waterfall has been colossal since the start of last season (other than an absolutely ridiculous ten minutes when he scored an OG, gave away a pen and got sent off vs Maidenhead and a needless OG vs Barnet). Not the first time he's had Wootton on toast in that period either. Him vs Andy Cook next weekend is potentially gonna be a great showdown.

Hopefully Bradford don't complete this little triangle and grind out one of these away wins!

I thought that was goal of the season
