Lol somehow won 3-1 but the rest of the season was a nightmare. Came 3rd in the league again but lost 11 games (10 away!) but that's not the bad bit. Apparently last summer I rejected a bid for one of my centre-halves from PSG and he got a bit upset. I then promised him we'd win the Champions League. Obviously we didn't (FWIW out in the quarters after a heroic 3-2 aggregate defeat to Barcelona). As soon as that happened, ALL of my players started hating on me for breaking my promise to him and I got hauled in front of the board for one of those turn-up-or-be-sacked meetings because I'd lost the dressing room, and my squad called two meetings in which I had to try my best to placate them. It's fucking bullshit tho, I'd sell him but the transfer window's not open yet! Afraid to continue in case I get sacked...

Wouldn't happen in the Vanarama. Go back to your spiritual home.

Started a new save with Deportes Temuco. Currently in my 3rd season with the Chilean club. I got promoted in my first season and stayed up mid-table in the overall table. I just finished the Apertura of the 3rd season and I finished top 10. I had a tough run of games at the end playing against an in-form Huachipato, Universidad De Chile at home (I won 3-0 though :o ) and Universidad Catolica. Universidad Catolica beat me in the Chilean Cup.

I bought a striker named Rafael Guedes from Santo Andre for 20K and is easily my best player. He`s a "star player" for most Chilean First Division sides. 9 goals so far, he doesn't enjoy big matches but that's really his only flaw. Class player. Absolute bargain.

Started a Burnley save, kept them up and despite him not signing it till March Danny Ings signed a new contract, got rid of alot of the deadwood in the summer ( Taylor, Wallace, Duff, Barnes, Lafferty etc) and signed Will Hughes for around 15m ( may regret this) signed that DeMari Gray lad, Kolo Toure on a one year deal (defo regret that) and Gnabry on loan. Hoping for a mid table finish.

Basically want to build a contender made of predominately young english players.

I've basically got the Argentina National team playing for me. No decent English players about in my game though who are anywhere near affordable. Got a couple of regens waiting to break through, but even they are mostly foreign. My first team consists of:

Guerro (Spain)*
ten Heuvel (Holland) Zamarippa (Mexico) Romagnoli (Italy) Luduena (Argentina)
Roberto (Spain) Imbula (Belgium)
Lamela (Argentina) Martinez (Argentina) Grealish (Ireland)
Simeone (Spain)

My Backups consist of:

GK:
McCarthy (England)
Frohlich (USA)

DR:
Chambers (England - Trained all across defence)
Lowton (England)**
Cristante (Italy)*

DC:
Walter (Austria)*

DL:
No one, but Imbula and Chambers can cover if needed

MC:
Bentaleb (Algeria)
Valero (Spain)**
Hiljemark (Sweden)

Wingers (most are trained across both):
Bruma (Portugal)
Lacazette (Argentina)
Rapson (England)
Traore (Burkina Faso)

AMC (also trained on wings)
Gauld (Scotland)
Morrison (England)

ST:
Icardi (Argentina)
Monroy (Mexico)

My youngsters who are out on loan and are future breakthroughs consist of: (Most regens so won't name those)
Correra (Argentina)
Argentina*
Holland*
Italy*
Italy*
Norway*
France*
Ukraine*
England*
Germany*
Portugal*
Italy*
England*

*Regen
**Transfer listed

The media are constantly on my back, but if there's no one affordable who is English, I ain't signing them over an affordable foreigner who is just as good/better. This has brought to attention the fact that I need a centre back though. Only thing I struggle with right now is my home grown quota with only Grealish and Rapson meeting the club requirements right now... Wonder how much Inter will want for me to get Clark back as a backup...

£8million, sold for £7million... It'll do for now, extra player for my CL campaign for £8million, and a backup for my defence.

EDIT: Champions League is gonna be fun... Got me a group of death:

Barcelona (Spanish Champions and CL runners up)
Aston Villa (English Champions)
Internazionale (Italian Champions)
Maccabi Tel-Aviv (Who cares? Israeli Champions I assume.)

Downloaded FM2015 last night. Isn't it clever? Don't even need a disc anymore. Fancy mod cons.

Thought I'd have a quick look before work this morning. Became manager of Altrincham. Started doing bits and pieces. Looked up to find I'd been playing for 30 mins and no longer had time for breakfast.

It begins...

The modern football manager games are far too involved for little old me, so last week I downloaded the ultimate CM01/02 with the 2015 data update. There's a hardcore set of fans of the game who have provided continuing updates for the teams, players etc without touching any of the game machine, so it still starts in 2001, there are still 'new financial regulations', there are still two stages of group stage in the champions league, there are still only five substitutes in England and Nicolas Anelka is still sulking.

However, it is fantastic. I have coached Barcelona to back to back La Liga titles, but lost out to first Bayern and then Real in the champions league. Of course it's still hugely addictive but each season only took about four hours to plunder through and I now know the names of all those back up Barcelona players. I've also been playing it in Spanish to convince myself that I've not been wasting my life, which was amazing as the original version never had the option to play in español.

Sounds great. There were a few flaws in that game - the Swedes and the Greeks were too good, sometimes the attendances were plain bizarre - but for all round enjoyable gameplay I think it's still the best.

Me gustaria jugar en espanol perro necesito practicar mucho mas.

As you can tell it's a long time since I last used Spanish. The in-laws have just moved to Cordoba so I should make an effort to improve.

Midway point of my first season in L1 with Blackpool, and we are slap bang in mid table.

Boring isn't it?

Unless, of course, you're referring to yourself as dog, as sl1k, for example, might do. Dog's gotta practice, bro.

Finished second in my Copa Chile group to Everton. Lost 2-0 at home to them. They're in the second tier still while we are in first, but we went through anyways so no complaints.

Also sold my striker Rafael Guedes for 130K because it met his release clause. One funny thing that the media said was that he was the "next Ronaldo"

This version is a lot more complex than I'm used to. Different ways of delivering the same team talks, dealing with agents etc. Going to take some time to get my head around, I think.

On the plus side I've started the season by gaining 4 points from 3 games, with is better than the team did in real life :)

I went back on my old Peterborough save.

Then I remembered why I left it. I have one left back (injured) as I didn't have the budget for another, and my best 5 players (Eriksson, Ronaldo, Renan, Mooney and Rami (All Regens)) are wanting to join one of Chelsea, Arsenal or Newcastle.

European competition last season killed me and I dragged myself to an 11th place finish in the league. Best i've finished in the Prem in 6 years is 5th. I just can't break in to that top four.

In December 2022 at the moment and currently in 9th. I feel like a sacking is on the way. Knew I should have jumped ship to Chelsea in the summer.

Lost in the PO semi's with Stockport so another season in L2.

Left with 5 high earners taking up £9.5k/week having shifted/released some others. Squad is about there, just need a couple of RB's and a back-up CB.

After weeks, nay, MONTHS of losing interest in FM... I am back! Back with a save that has retained my low attention span for more then... oh look a helicopter!

Decided to emphasize my love of all things tin pot & start a new save in the footballing superpower that is Gibraltar. I've gone with Gibraltarian Division 2 nothing side Cannons FC, because they have cannons on their badge & cannons are cool. Spent pre season somehow managing to sign most of 12 times reigning Premier Division champions Lincoln FC's squad - which hasn't exactly had the outcome you'd think it would.

4 league games in to season one (which is 2013/14 as I'm still kicking it retro with FM2014) & I'm on 2 wins, 1 tie & 1 utter spanking. 4th place in the table... not bad for a side considered to finish 11th out of 12 by the media but not great for a side that's nicked half of the national team's players from their respective club sides. I guess amateur Gibraltarians aren't too clued up on counter attacking 4-5-1's but they will get there soon as I refuse to change my tactics.

Before I enter Season 3 with Barnet, I thought I'd better update how I got on in Season 2, be it my first season in L2.

Well - I got promoted, by quite some margin, albeit finishing 3rd, but it wasn't a superb season, and somehow, despite having an 18 point lead on 3rd half way through the season, I went through a torrid spell where I lost 6 games in 7, and nothing was going for me.

But - I bounced back, and gained promotion.

Sky Bet League 2_ Overview Stages-5.png

I didn't spent a penny in my first two years, apart from renewing contracts, I relied totally on 8 loanees (paying 0% wages,) youth I've brought through such as Luke Gambin, and players I already had there.

This Summer - I decided if I want to challenge near the top again, I'm going to need to spend some of the Finances that I've stabilized in the last two years.

Without spending a Transfer Fee, I did bring in some good L1 players, eventually, after 95% of the players I tried turned me down, but I'll be satisfied with top half, considering 5 of my starting 11 I plan for the 1st game are players I used in the Conference in my first season.

I've signed a couple of the loanees I've had in the last few years, and also renewed some loans, such as Kane Ferdinand, Joel Periera etc, but I've also added some L1 quality.

Transfers_ Transfer History-2.png

Admittedly, I'm not as reliant on loans this year, due to many players contracts running out, and me being able to sign them free of cost, so I should have some stability this season, and I'll class anything above 17th which is my predicted finish as success.

Just finished 2020/21 with Blackpool, finishing 14th in our first season back in L1. There was a period in January/February where we looked like we could break into the top 6 but our form tailed off horrendously from March onwards. Fortunately relegation was never going to worry us, so it's been quite dull. The highlight of the season was drawing 0-0 at the New White Hart Lane in the 4th round of the FA Cup, only to lose the replay 4-0 at home. But still.

I'm wondering if I can make a push for the playoffs here, although the finances aren't the best. I got us into the black with the cup run, yet we lost around £600k in the final three months, somehow.

So, quite a busy summer in Lancashire. I decided to sign a new deal (nothing to do with the fact Championship side Aston Villa wouldn't offer me the job, promise!).

I had a bit of a clear out, but not huge. Jack Redshaw was probably the biggest name to leave - he has been excellent for me on this save, having joined me at Torquay and then Blackpool. Other players to go included Carl McHugh, Kortney Hause, River Allen and James Baillie, all on frees.

I've gone against my usual policy, and have actually splashed out on some high wages this summer. While the goalkeeper spot isn't a priority, Jed Steer joined on a free, paying him £6k pw. Ryan Haynes also came in to challenge for the LB/LWB role, while Tom Bradshaw (scores against me ALL THE TIME) has joined to replace Redshaw. Matt Banks and Jamie Allen have come in to strengthen the midfield.

Quite content with the 20-man squad I have now, and I think there's enough in there to see us progress towards the top end of the table.

Similar to what I did - I never usually spend big on wages, but I decided I'd rather sign some players on big wages, and if I get the right players who are going to get me in the playoffs/promoted or on a good cup run, I'll be reaping the rewards financially.

Big risk - but they ain't going to sack me because of finances, I've sorted them right out in the last two years, and I've almost earnt the money to spend, such as 4k p/w on Walsh etc.

Contract runs out this season, have kept turning down a new one, just to keep my options open, but I've had a cracking start to the season, and I'll probably be here for the long term, barring an exceptional club offer.
