Sadly, my successful tenure at Barnet came to an abrupt end last Summer.

I got back to back to back Promotions as I previously stated from the tinpot minnows of the Conference, to the Championship - but I found that I did too much in too short a period of time.

I got to the Summer, and got given a budget of like 200k, which didn't come as a massive shock to me, and the fact that I'd had all my success over the 3 years at Barnet with only spending a total of £10k in Transfer Fee's, I wasn't really phased at all.

So - I put all the money into the wage budget, and out I went looking for free transfers and Loans. I had just released a lot of the players that I had that got me out of the Conference, and were no longer at the right level for the club, so I was down to a 13 man squad. I went for some top end L1 quality, Daniel Johnson and Nathan Byrne the main ones - both been released from their clubs on free transfers, so in I went, offered a contract, bit expensive but that's to be expected in the Championship, and I found myself getting turned down for clubs in the lower division. Notably, Daniel Johnson went to fucking Colchester, and Nathan Byrne went to Portsmouth. I did manage to get a few in - but no to quality I would like, Shola Ameobi who was about 867 years old in game, Uche Ikpeazu on loan from Watford, Kasey Palmer on loan from Chelsea, and Louis Thompson on a free transfer, who I had on loan for 2 seasons anyway. I had a squad of about 17 players, and a few of them were players that I used in the Conference or L2.. So - I bottled it. I quit, resigned, whatever you want to call it.

Kevin Blackwell took over, and unsurprisingly signed NO-ONE, and just bulked up the squad with many U18's. Unsurprisingly, they sit bottom of the Championship, but they're giving it a bloody good go.

As for my career path - Southampton came calling. Bottom of the PL after just sacking Billy Davies, 11 played, 1 win, 1 draw and 9 losses, and only 14 players fit/available, and two of the 3 I had on the bench were GK's.

Remarkably, I have played 4 games, Won 2, Drawn 1 and Lost 1. I cut the points gap from 6 points to 1, and look to be well on my way to staying up. I have key players like Mane and Tadic slowly returning from injury, which can only be a boost. I have a shite budget of 4m, but I'm going to have a firesale if I stay up, and re-invent the squad and make it my own.

Gone up from L1 to Champ and my wage budget has increased from 42k to 65k... - but with a £1.6m transfer budget, which I guess will be going into wages now. Encountering fairly run-of-the-mill Champ players wanting 6k-7k a week. Welp. I think I'll just aim for players with average current ability but good potential, give them a year in the first team to improve, scrape survival and put myself in a better position next season...that's the aim anyway.

Not sure Reuben Reid's going to be a 20+ a season man at this level either and having conceded 68 in League 1, probably only Nelson out of the back 5 is good enough.

Luckily, when signing a new contract I demanded better training facilities which they agreed to and work is under way for that and an overhaul of the coaching staff should see my strategy of improving young players who have been sold on the cheap from higher up continuing.

My tenure as Jamaica manager came to an abrupt end in the summer of 2017, we were knocked out of the North American Gold Cup by Surinam in the Quarter Finals (the Jamaican FA expected us to reach the semi's) & despite us still having a very good chance of qualifying for the World Cup they decided to sack me. Not too disappointed to be honest because the team was very old & nothing was coming through.

As for Rovers, I've just made it to the start of the season, 12 players have joined in the summer as we needed to bulk up the squad, mostly youngsters with a couple of experienced players chucked in. The media have predicted a 21st placed finish (despite finishing 7th last year). Our first game is away to Barnet

Third season in the Championship... 2 semi final defeats and now 7th on goal difference despite winning 4 of my last 5 games to mount a challenge. Feel sick.

Last three seasons I've scored 76,75 and 73 points respectively.

At least I'm consistent? :69:

Mid season report and I couldn't be happier.

Premier League

upload_2015-5-27_22-27-48.png

The table pretty much says it all. I imagine I'd actually be higher I hadn't been competing in the Europa League and League Cup as well.
Overview of my results:

upload_2015-5-27_22-29-11.png

Two games stand out for me. One a heavy win and the other a heavy loss. I'll start with the heavy loss:

upload_2015-5-27_22-30-8.png

Don't really know what happened here. I took the lead and all looked well and then it just went a bit mental. I got pretty aggressive after the game I'll tell you that for sure.

The big win against the other north London side:

upload_2015-5-27_22-31-51.png

I've found out that even if my players have good fitness and match condition ratings, they always perform worse after playing in the europa league so the level of rotation has had to be increased which is hard as my squad isn't great.

Europa League

This has been pretty easy tbh. My qualifiers were a piece of piss and the group I was drawn in was pretty favourable.

upload_2015-5-27_22-33-59.png

Finished top comfortably and got drawn against Standard Liege in the next round. If I make it through then I will face either Sparta Prague or PSG.

Capital One Cup

Another tournament I've done well in mainly thanks to easy draws.

upload_2015-5-27_22-35-38.png

All championship opponents and if I can get to the final, it will be against Stoke or Southampton so a real chance of a trophy here.

The team I've been mainly playing with:

upload_2015-5-27_22-38-19.png

Reach, Juanmi and Woodrow clearly the stand out performers. Gimenez and Tarkowski have been solid as usual but have both been sent off (Gimenez twice) which is annoying as my back up CBs are Jordan Willis (average prem) and Grant Hanley (made 1 sub appearance) so I can't afford to lose both of them at the same time. Juanmi is out for 3 weeks but Fekir has filled in well for him. Cauley Woodrow is insanely good.

Waterford United - Season II (2014)
Déjà vu

Having been narrowly let off the hook by the Waterford United chairman John O'Sullivan after missing out on the play offs last season, I continued on as first team manager on a month-to-month contract hoping that the 2014 season would start well enough for me to secure another contract. This time round the board's expectations had been slightly lowered & my aim in the League of Ireland First Division was now only to finish in a respectable league position, obviously my personal target would be to try & push on for at least a play off spot.

A much busier pre season saw us play 6 fixtures as well as make a few new signings to try improve the first team squad. We also managed to finally set up a feeder club in Southend (Waterford) to loan out my young acquisitions too, something I had been consistently asking the board since joining the club at the start of last season. The 6 games saw us win against Waterford Bohemians & our new feeder side Southend, tie 1-all with Watford (a pre season game we managed to secure as one of the benefits from the sale of Connor Whittle last season) & suffer defeats against Premier Division sides Cork City, Dundalk & Derry City. Shortly after completion of our exhibition fixtures the board surprised me with the announcement that recent opponents Dundalk was to be signed up as a parent side to the club, although this proved to have no real positive effect.

An opening day First Division defeat at rivals Wexford Youths left me needing to change my underwear as I feared this was going to be the end of my time here but I redeemed myself when we then embarked on a 7 game unbeaten streak (4 wins, 3 ties) which saw us joint top of the table & also managed to bag me a new deal! I put pen to paper on a 2 season contract with the club meaning I could continue my focus on promoting youth football, something well underway with a few of last season's top U19 players breaking through to the senior side.

League form took the (what now seems) usual inconsistent dip but during this time my youngsters that were regulars in the senior side proved themselves to me by smashing their way through to the Munster Senior Cup final with the highlight being a 7-nil demolition of provincial side Mayfield United. League form began to pick up but remain slightly inconsistent with my Waterford United team constantly bouncing between 2nd & 5th in what was turning out to be a very tight league.

Munster Senior Cup glory was not to be had as reigning Munster champs & Premier Division high-flyers Cork City prevented any kind of upset in the final. Back in the league I couldn't work out weather we were coming or going as we somehow found ourselves being trounced at home by eventual champions Athlone Town (who to be fair were not that much better then us this season) but following that up with a victory away at one of the most decorated teams in the country in Bohemians - this was a theme that continued right up towards the end of the season.

After bowing out of the FAI Cup at the Quarter Final stage for the 2nd consecutive season there were just 3 league games left to play & we were sat in 4th place, 2 points off of 3rd place Bohemians & two ties later we were down to the last game of the season now with just a 1 point gap. We did our bit by soundly dispatching Munster rivals Cobh Ramblers by 4 goals to 1 however Bohemians also managed to emerge victorious, resulting in another 4th place finish for me - however this time it was in line with the expectations set by the board.

Athlone Town, who were runners up last season & lost out in the final play off round, won the First Division title resulting in promotion up to the Premier Division while being replaced by Finn Harps who ended the season bottom of the top flight league after just a 1 season stay. The First Division play off between 3rd & 4th place saw league runners up Wexford Youths destroy Bohemians but they couldn't carry on their run in to the promotion/relegation game as 11th place Premier Division outfit Bray Wanderers ran out victorious over 2 legs (despite losing the first leg) to retain their status.

League of Ireland First Division: 4th out of 8 (2nd season running, but this time it was considered an acceptable season by the powers that be)
FAI Cup: Quarter Final (once again beat expectations of reaching the 3rd round, no Premier Division scalp on route this time though)
League of Ireland Cup: 2nd Round (the board did not consider this competition important any more so no big loss we fell out at the 2nd Round, which this time was the first hurdle)
Munster Senior Cup: Runners Up (still unimportant to the board, so used my impressive youths right up until the final where my senior side lost)

Job security has dropped to stable, promotion was the aim last season, they've renewed me though for a further 2 years. Entering my sixth season with them now after stripping the club via the editor and moving to L2.

Guessing I wont be able to get my game back? :ffs:

Maybe try the Sports Interactive forum?

Perhaps a silly question but do you not have several backups from autosave? Might lose some data but at least you'll have something.

I always keep two or three now after two many FM save disasters.

Well, a season that promised so much in the end delivered very little.

upload_2015-5-28_20-11-50.png

In the end just didn't have the squad depth to make the champions league places. I need to be given a decent budget this summer but I don't see it myself. Happy enough with 6th though.

Went out on away goals against PSG in the Europa League. Woodrow still finished 2nd top scorer despite me getting knocked out in the 2nd knockout round.

Lost 5-4 on aggregate against Man United in the league cup semi final. The deciding goal was a penalty that apparently shouldn't have been given. Another devastating result.

Did Woking in FM a few years ago when you were in the Conference South, fancying a different save to non league this time. :bg:

Do a random team across Europe, that always turns out interesting.

I've had a poor start to my second season and sit in 14th place. Far to inconsistent and
I've still not kept a clean sheet.

Just had a board takeover and it seems they've wiped out the debt and given me another £1m to spend with an increased wage budget so I will try to spend that wisely.

Cheltenham game has picked up a bit, 18th in league 1 after 12 games, and in the JPT South quarter final after beating Swindon 2-0 away
Got the second most goals scored in the league, but my defense is letting me down
