Salford (a) - I don’t think we’ve ever beaten these - 5th time lucky?

As mentioned, if we play anything like all the games played so far (barring Orient), then we’ll create plenty of opportunities. Already, I think we’re relying too much on Cook; small Cooke, Vernam, Gilliead, Lavery and Crankshaw all have to do more, for me. I think it’ll just click at some point in front of goal, and some unfortunate soul is gonna take an absolutely paggering.

Songo’o might return, but I actually think Gareth Evans is doing alright in the centre.

GK: Richard O’Donnell

RB: Oscar Threkeld
CB: Paudie O’Connor
CB: Niall Canavan
LB: Liam Ridehalgh

CM: Elliott Watt
CM: Gareth Evans

RW: Alex Gilliead
CAM: Callum Cooke
LW: Charles Vernam

CF: Andy Cook

Sold out weeks ago, so it’ll be a decent atmosphere as per from our lot.

1-0 City

I think we have to start with Fela.
Looked good at Carlisle, quick & skilfully,a good foil for Goodwin.

I really like what I've seen of Fela so far but I also think he'll go Molyneux. As RiftHouseLad says, he'll probably get one more go and possibly only one more for a while as I thought he was poor as a striker when he came on at Tranmere. DC probably thinking on same lines.

I was watching the game on ifollow, And thought Fela would have came on when Tyler got injured.
Fela is pretty direct and facing up ageing defenders could have caused problems.
Then again you could say the same about Molly.

Should be 3 points Vs an Oldham team seemingly embroiled in off the pitch drama.

Oldham fans: what's the deal with your owner and the current situation down boundary park? Have to say I'm not aware of much of the specifics, I saw your owner came out recently saying he doesn't want to sell, has received no offers, and wants to work to push things forward, but aside from that I'm largely in the dark.
If anyone has a link to a summary or can be asked explaining themselves I'd be interested to read.

Dale's (mostly) youngsters v Tranmere's (mostly) gnarly veterans this weekend.

Hoping for a win, with our fresher legs pulling away in the second half after a tense opening period.

Wonder if Peter Clarke will feel bereft at not having Ian Henderson to kick? He could end up with an hour of the (large) Jake Beesley to mark instead, with the (even larger) Josh Andrews coming on as sub later on...

Jay Spearing will bear watching - needs hassling before he has time to spray the ball around.

Should be a good game.

3-1 (HT 1-1)

I'm always worried when we are confident, especially when there isn't much separating us and Scunny in the table, and we have yet to win away.

It will be a tough one, maybe another draw especially as it doesn't look like Brown will be back.

Carlisle coming down to Sussex to beat us this weekend. They are one of those clubs we rarely seem to do well against. No idea why. Must be a close neighbour thing...er.

We should be able to play a centre back pairing this week. Joel Lynch has signed. At his best he is a much better player than league 2. We just need to see how much damage the injury did.

At the other end I fancy a start for Kwesi Appiah. He has been building up fitness after not having a pre season but Nadesan can't keep failing to score an keep his starting place (I rate him but it's costing us points).

Going for us to get a lucky win with Morris (our keeper) getting mom.

I got the impression that Burey was a temporary fix up front until Olomola and/or Cullen was ready to start games, and if Burey continued to impress then he could drop deeper, with Holohan's place under the most obvious threat (though GH is currently doing enough to keep his place). I think the same applies to Molyneux. Like Burey he is essentially a winger in a team that has no need for wingers, and he's going to be a square peg wherever he plays. If Olomola is fit, I'd play him. Molyneux would go back to being a useful bench option.

Got a few back after last weeks covid episode so hoping for a positive result a draw would be good but a win would be brilliant, it will be tough tho as harrogate have started the season really well.

Come on MJ are you winding me up, Burey a temp fix, lol

Seriously though think Burey turned out even better than DC would have thought.

Here’s a summary

And here’s today’s statement:

They’re now attempting to stop fans from attending games to voice their displeasure. This comes 2 days after he released a statement saying he wants to work with fans. The ownership and our CEO are a disgrace.

By temporary fix, I meant as one of the effective front two. When he signed it sounded as if he was here to strengthen the midfield options and offer flexibility in terms of how we set up.. There's been nothing temporary about his place in the team. Hes earned that without question.

Understand fully, Don,t think any of us expected such an impact.
He,s got an unbeliveable future ahead of him, With a load of hard work and some luck.
Watched him in the cup at Carlisle, He was devastated when he missed his penalty.

Knowing what lower league football is like I wouldn't be suprised if we dropped points on Saturday, if this young group of players want to have a good season then of course we need to win.

Jackett has few things to decide, last week we switched to three at the back to accomodate whom we had avaliable. Saturday we will have Kyprianou and Sotiriou back - both whom played well in our last home game against Bradford which we won.

Harry Smith has hit a decent run of form and is playing well, considering he had no pre season minutes at all.

Oldham will have my full support off the pitch, I know what it feels like to have morons steering your clubs ship. My advice would be to take a step back with the pitch invasions for now and try and let Keith Curle find a winning formula, as pitch invasions week after week at the start of the season won't help the teams confidence and belief - But the point so far has been made. If the shit still continues with Oldham struggling then by all means continue with pitch invasions if needed. Its difficult to tell where to draw the line, because the team needs the crowd with them in order to pull away from trouble.

When we invaded our pitch in our last 2 home games of 2016/17 we was 95% down with nothing left to lose.

There seems to be a consensus among fans that going on the pitch in away games isn’t the right thing to do anyway as it is the home team that incurs the fine which wouldn’t be fair. The pitch invasions have served their purpose insofar as it has gained the attention of the media.

There have been banners along the lines of ‘support the team, not the regime’ so I would hope the players know that this isn’t about them anyway and they’ve got a good backing during most games this season amongst the ‘Abdallah Out’ chants. Our players are mainly crap, but it’s not their fault they’re here!

I know there are a few Vale fans on here so thought I'd pose the question. How is your pressing game? The reason I ask is that against Mansfield they implemented an aggressive very high press and this really nullified the way we try and play. Stevenage did the total opposite and we were allowed to have the ball and basically ran rings around them in the first half. Our trouble is in the final third where we just can't seem to unlock teams.

The new loanee from Brentford looks like he has enough nous to be able to help here and Jonny Williams has just come back from International duty with Wales playing 60, 25 and 55 minutes so not sure if he'll be involved but he definitely will be a key player this season. I'm looking forward to it, won't be going but will be watching from afar.

I don't know what the current covid situation is, but we might have so many midfielders it will be hard to pick. Three loanees whose clubs would no doubt prefer they played plus a kid who might have more potential than any of them, plus Upson and Willmott who've made good starts, plus Dolan and Bennett who can also play CB.

Depends what mood we are in to be honest, at times we will sit off and be comfortable with letting teams pass around, others we will press.

In fairness last weekend aside when it had a stinker our defence has been solid enough but we need a huge reaction from last week... its Swindon... its away to Swindon so expect a heavy loss.

We have spells where we look unlivable in games but we have yet to sustain it for more than 20 minutes, if we have that 20 and you get through it best we will hope for is a point.

I would be tempted to shuffle for this one and finally give Dennis Politic a go, its crazy we have someone that highly rated and we havent used him! Gibbons to come in as hes now fit.

Someone on twitter said you’ve only sold 12 tickets! Can’t believe that. I hope you lot are aware there are no ticket sales available on matchday.

Probably we always lose there, reality though the club posted that there’s only limited tickets left so imagine we’ve about sold what we asked for.

Looks like we’ve sold 12 online tickets through your website but most will be sold through the club ticket office.

We're very hit and miss with the press. We've generally let teams dick about with the ball at the back which seems to be a league 2 tactic and then occasionally we try and nick it.

We've been so up and down so far but having said that I think nearly every team we have played so far is in the current top 10. I'm hoping after the next couple of difficult games that we can pinch a win or two on the bounce and maybe get some consistency. Our fixtures have probably been the toughest in the whole division.

It seemed last week as though some heads had dropped, particularly when we conceded, which is worrying this early on. I'm hoping we're going to be that team that gets stronger.

I have, Orient fans in general have been very supportive since our supporters group Push The Boundary were formed and the club have followed with a touch of class there. I’m sure we’ll show our appreciation by letting you have the 3 points!

I'm not concerned, we should be bang up for our cup final against Joey-Barton's-newly-relegated-Bristol-Rovers
You've even brought in our ex-assistant manager to help you for the game. Pretty desperate, you have to admit.

We do look like a team in transition I guess and with all the new signings it’s no surprise.

The squad on paper is very good, some real quality signed this summer with the backing we’ve had just hope it isn’t one of them where it gels too late and the season passes us by.

It shows glimpses of what it can do, hopefully the FGR performance was a sign of a good away side with the way we set up… guess we will have a better picture in the coming weeks.
