Potential to be an absolute stinker at vale today.
Horrible weather, 2 crap teams bang out of form.
I’m convinced that we have enough to easily escape the dogfight at the bottom.
Lose this today though and I’ll be shitting it.
I felt a bit for Southend when we beat them earlier in the season, they just looked toothless but had plenty of endeavour.
They played better than Grimsby.
2-1 vale

That's patently untrue.
Our manager literally said in his press conference that we’ve only trained as a group on grass for half an hour since 1st January. Our indoor pitch is tiny, you can hardly call it training if 4 of our players go in there for a kick around.

Not like a manager to exaggerate. Why didn't they do an hour?

Our home form has been excellent this season. Only Cheltenham and Bolton have come away with anything.

But Exeter couldn’t have picked a better time to come up to BP. We’ve had one half an hour training session since 1st January, our players will be so rusty and lacking any sort of match sharpness it could be a real shock to the players’ systems.

I know Shoddy takes the piss when he says the bookies are giving money away when they offer good odds on Carlisle’s opponents, but today I think they really are. 3/1 on the Exeter win really is excellent value given the above. Can only think the bookies have no clue as to just how little training we’ve done as well as the obvious lack of match practice. Even 7/4 on the draw no bet, just to cover you in the unlikely event that we’ll come out of it with a point, great odds.

I’d snap anyone’s hand off for a point right now. But realistically...

Carlisle United 0-2 Exeter City

It’ll do us good though, despite the defeat we’ll be better for it with a full League match under the players belts.
The bookies are no mugs. They probably saw our capitulation in midweek. The only thing that might go for us today is having Andresson in goal might keep the total down

We got an early goal and look fine when we’re on the ball, but we’re noticeably lacking intensity in our pressing off the ball. It’s allowing Exeter to control the game really. But can’t complain at being a goal up. Just can’t see Exeter not cutting through eventually.

We look so off the pace. If Exeter get their final ball right the game is there for them. Can’t fault our players effort but it’s going to need a monumental effort to hold on to this.

This game looks tailor made for Toure. Not yet time to make a change but I'd definitely be considering bringing him on if it's still close going onto the final half hour

I want Kayode on. Really helps us pin teams back which we haven’t been doing. Know he’s had an injury but the fact he’s on the bench surely means he’s over it.

My word I’ve no idea how it’s still 1-0. Absolute backs to the wall.

Probably the strongest line up we’ve had this season today which is one positive. Gibbons starts for the first time since his operation in October and Montano goes in at left back so the lumbering full backs of recent weeks have been replaced by two decent attacking ones.

Rodney who we assumed was out for weeks returns and plays out wide.

Chuffed but always get let down in this situation so probably still lose

We're playing a back five and four central midfielders today - can see us playing for a clean sheet. Only one striker in the match squad is a concern given that there are seemingly two fully fit forwards sat at home.

Starting 4 of our January signings with 3 others on the bench
Barrow: Dixon, Eardley, Platt, Davies, Thomas, Brough, Hardcastle, Biggins, Kay, Banks, Quigley.
Subs: Lillis, J Jones, Donohue, C Taylor, Bramall, Devitt

not sure if its 5-4-1 or 5-3-2.... Jolley might play Josh Kay just off Quigley?

* Luke James absence might still be because of getting knocked unconscious in the last match.

I don’t mean to alarm anyone but Matt Green isn’t in the squad today, meaning our 0% chance of scoring has now increased to 1%

Our lineup today is better at fullback. No idea how the hell Nathan Smith still has a starting spot though. This has to be last chance saloon for him today.

Only one change for Rovers with Palace loanee Nya Kirby replacing Danny Lloyd in midfield. Thought might be more after we looked jaded in midweek. Neither Blackett-Taylor nor Ferrier on the bench today, prompting suggestions they'll be moving on. Hmm... Cole Stockton to score against us?

Yep that one. Happened a number of times this season including him being at fault for Scunny’s opener on Tuesday. Not sure can watch much more of him to be honest.

Yes, outstanding for four years since breaking through, was expected to leave on a free in the summer to a higher level... shocked everyone by staying and has turned to a baby foal since November.
