Looking at Grimsby, so glad we didnt appoint bookies favourite Paul Hurst for the job, and that's not hindsight on my part, never fancied him at Bradford City in the first place. Am I right in saying Grimsby have lost every game under him so far. Grimsby looked doomed along with Sarfend now

Wouldn't put the full blame on Hurst, the squad that Holloway signed is dreadful, the signings Hurst has made are better pretty much better across the board than what we have, but we haven't signed enough to replace enough of the dross to improve us.

Cambridge fully deserved the win over Crawley. The wind and the pitch ruined most of the good play from both teams but Cambridge dealt with it better.

Obviously Watters gone and with Nadesan injured we looked toothless up front. Though why we play with Nichols on his own up there is baffling. For all his attributes he aint a lone striker.

Crawley never lets anyone know of injuries. I have no idea if that midfield was put out due to injuries or Yems had a brain fart but we had two right backs on Tuesday (v Bournemouth) neither were in the squad today! Francomb playing there was OK but we miss his 'getting around the pitch' ability in midfield. We were too lightweight.

Jordan Maguire-Drew, Josh Wright, James Tilly and Davide Rodari made their league debuts for Crawley today. Thats probably why we looked so disjointed.

The next game is the most important.

Delighted to have secured a comfortable 4-2 aggregate win over the once-mighty Bolton.

I’ve never felt like this after a game of football, I wish we’d just not scored and succumbed to a 1-0 loss instead.

Its the hope that kills ya

You should take heart from that performance, even in defeat. You gave us our toughest game since we sacked McCall at the beginning of December, and I include 2 games against Cambridge in that period.

You're being generous - we were mostly dreadful. So many opponents have said we're decent and we'll be fine, but we're not really getting any better.

Grimsby have not only let themselves down but they've really let the division down too.

I think they should be thrown out of the league immediately for being that crap!

Watch Menayese and Waterfall/McKeown's errors for their goals. We have the worst combination of centre backs and goalkeeper in this league. Maybe not individually but so much as the sum of the parts are in massive negative equity.

If you read something on twitter the opposite is often true.

To play Josh Wright as the deepest of a three is not the brightest move I've ever heard of but all told though it was not an individual who played badly it was the make up of it. Five across the middle. Excepting Hessenthaler all ball players. Even Hoolihan was made to look bad on that pitch. Desperately needed some energy out there. And someone to join Nichols in attack.

James McKeown has gone from the best keeper in the league to the worst in the space of 6 months

Individually too, if we somehow pull of a miracle and stay up, the only pre-Hurst players (need to see more of them before judging) I would keep for next season are Morais and Wright if he comes back from injury playing like he has in the past. All the rest are not good enough and can go, unless we want to carry on being a bottom half lge 2 side.

James McKeown has gone from the best keeper in the league to the worst in the space of 6 months

Longer than 6 months, he is a great shot stopper but been living on that for too long now.

I get that Holloway is bonkers and a dinosaur of a manager, but are you happy with Hurst so far, was he your first choice personally?, and do you think he will save you from the dreaded drop?

Yes I'm happy with Hurst, but then I was one of the few who liked him when in the conference and I'm convinced if he had stayed we would at the minimum had a couple of seasons challenging for the play-offs in lge 2 not 4 season of relegation battles.

Didn't really have a first choice, wasn't sure who was around and who would want to come, but he would be up there with being one of my choices yes. I said when he arrived if we go down this season it wouldn't be his fault and I stand by that, would I have liked him to have signed more players by now and got a few wins? yes. After today I don't think we can be saved no, not unless he pulls off 3 or 4 decent signings by Monday which is unlikely.

We can't create chances and the few we do create, we can't score and we can't defend anything, which is massive. One player has come in and improved the midfield 10 fold, need to see more of Payne to judge if he can score the few chances we create, and there are question marks over the central defender he has brought in on loan, he's certainly no worse than Pollock and Waterfall but he doesn't look better either. So its not looking good so far.

As SoC said when he came, its the wrong time in the year to be playing all our relegation rivals before Hurst has got a foothold and his players in, playing the way he wants. We have now played them all and lost and just as he gets going we now play the better teams with even less confidence, if it was the other way round we could have gone into Feb and March playing our shite rivals and maybe saved ourselves, not now.

Good job there appears to be two teams worse than us.
Barra will finish higher than they are now. They will bully some teams into submission and Quigley will cause problems to most teams in this div.

Couldn’t believe what I was watching, big hoof straight from the kick off and we let it go and their guy dinks it past McKeown. I feel like I’m in a bad dream it’s just pathetic.
Thats the sort of crap goal that we have been letting in. How can it happen in professional football?

Barrow *seem* a decent team. But they're taking so long to get off the ground. They just need to get a run of form like Mansfield finally did, they should be safe.

Looking at the table, cannot believe what lack of bollocks some of the Vale lot had on here all considered,

From the snobby remarks to the summer, and the relegation talk recently, hopefully the ones guilty live and learn!!

Couldn’t have complained if we had been 4 or 5 nil down at ht instead of just the one against Salford at a very windy boundary park but a game of two half’s Due to the conditions thankfully we scored two of our chances

Well good luck for the rest of the season. Be a shame to lose another good club from the EFL. You always bring a good following to Valley Parade to make for a good atmosphere, apart from this season of course!

Vale fans crying about potential relegation is like when the BBC send some shite celebrity to a poverty stricken village in Africa for Comic Relief, yet the celeb somehow makes the 5 min segment all about themselves.

Not really.

We were on a form of 2 wins in 17 before yesterday. We’ve only got the healthy gap because we had 19 points after 10 games. We’ve averaged even with yesterday’s victory well under 1PPG since game 10.

Why wouldn’t we be worried about relegation?

Isn’t that a consequence of the way your own fans behave though? Most visiting supporters have a decent time at Tranmere. Although I have been in the away end at Horwich, it wasn’t for a Rovers game. On that occasion there wasn’t anything to report.

You’ve only visited once in 20 years, most enjoy VP as an away day, town centre close, loads of decent real ale pubs local. It’s a bit of a shit hole in areas but as long as you don’t come looking for a scrap you’d have an enjoyable day most times.

I had a decent time last visit to Tranmere (apart from a bloke wielding a sword robbing a shop as we left )

nice pub next to ground if I recall.

Because it was just that, a bad run of form you had already proved you had a squad good enough for mid table, just needed to stop the bad run. Plenty of sides below you that don't have mid table squads.
