Isn’t that a consequence of the way your own fans behave though? Most visiting supporters have a decent time at Tranmere. Although I have been in the away end at Horwich, it wasn’t for a Rovers game. On that occasion there wasn’t anything to report.
certainly they play a part....seems to happen everytime those 4 clubs are involved. Yes the have been isolated instances...Lincoln last season, but on the whole it is when we play those either home or away.

Because it was just that, a bad run of form you had already proved you had a squad good enough for mid table, just needed to stop the bad run. Plenty of sides below you that don't have mid table squads.
Notts County had a good squad but went down. Means nothing what it is on paper.

When most were calling us favourites or one of the promotion favourites in August i pointed to that very example.

Does it? We’ve only met once at VP, don’t recall any issues in the reverse fixture and the trouble, well I’m not sure exactly what caused it after that goal but you were going up, it was almost sending us down.

You always get a bit if a large following come down but for the majority who don’t want it then it’s an alright day. After the Wolves debacle we have the fencing so the car park isn’t an issue anymore and to be fair since Carol and Kevin took over I don’t recall any trouble at all.

I had a decent time last visit to Tranmere (apart from a bloke wielding a sword robbing a shop as we left )

nice pub next to ground if I recall.
I find it hard to believe about the nice pub. What shop was it?

I was talking about your first 10 games proving you were good enough, I don't remember County being anywhere but near the bottom the entire season, may be wrong.

My point was it was a blip in form and not permeant, kinda like Colchester right now, won't be long before they climb the table again.

I can’t remember it was 2013, police were everywhere for it.

Wasn’t the brightest robber to do it near a football stadium on a Saturday afternoon mind!

Pub was near the car park the Mersey Clipper looking at google, good atmosphere in there no trouble at all. Not the war zone Masi claims it is to visit.

Maybe, injuries have killed us and the transformation is performance level with the two full backs yesterday back was huge... but when you get in a rut it’s hard to get out of it. Still work to be done as well.

It's not at all. If fans come looking for it, they find it, but most of our fans prefer bobble hats and soup to Stone Island and Stella.

football trouble is like that everywhere. I refuse to believe that any innocent wigan fans were attacked at Vale park, same as any innocent vale fans were by them.

the ones who want trouble will find each other, you'd have to be incredibly stupid or just very very unlucky to find yourself in the middle of the violence especially with how small a minority it is nowadays.

I've been 'offered' fights twice following vale - once at tranmere and once at chesterfield train station, i politely declined both and was left alone both times. the only other time i got caught up in anything was a west brom game in the 90s (maybe 95/96 ish) and that was unavoidable, never seen anything like it before or after. hamil road was a warzone that day.

Tranmere fans tend to boycott that pub (Called The Birch Tree now) because its run by a Liverpool fan and use the Fan Zone, when allowed of course. The only time you see trouble at Prenton Park is when fans with a chip on their shoulder visit, otherwise its fine. I once heard of somebody trying to mug somebody outside a police station so he might not be the thickest one.

Most of the types who get involved it that kind of thing do it when there is no football. Football is an excuse not a cause. They are thugs. They would fight over how wet water was if there was nothing else to fight about. Its a social problem, not a football problem. We are/were a scapegoat for a wider problem.

I was at the “battle of Wrexham” only 18 and travelled up alone from Leicestershire. That was the worst I’ve ever seen. Huge Vale following, horrendous referee decisions and it just boiled up with the police outside. Gnomes everywhere!

Wrexham is prime chip on shoulder territory.

The difference with us is that the good results at the start of the season appear to have been the blip. Stevenage at home is probably the only game we've deservedly won all year, the rest have been completely against the run of play.

The expected goals table, for example, has us right at the bottom with yourselves and Southend, and I can very much believe it. We've been appalling all season and it's caught up with us. The only saving grace is I do think we've already blagged enough of a cushion over you both that we should be fine. But we have a tricky run of fixtures now and it wouldn't surprise me if by the time we head to Blundell Park in mid-March the gap is very close, particularly as sides like Grimsby and Barrow are making signings left, right and centre to try and close the gap whereas we're letting anybody go who we can, adding nobody and writing the season off already.

Hope you're right but I'd be amazed if we have gained 2 or 3 points never mind 8 or 9 by the time we play you!

I find it hard to believe any owner of a club thats been in the National League could even allow it to be in danger of going back there.

Sort it aht. This division is already northern/bumpkin enough. Could do without you disappearing as well as the Mudrats.

We're bound to win a couple that you wouldn't expect, so with the cushion already there I'm sure we'll be fine, but we're making hard work of it. We'll probably win at Salford on Tuesday now.

This is a club run by John Fenty, a club who didn’t plan on playing football this season.

The worst bit is, the vast majority of our fan base praised them for it.

The fact that this is all you can comment on from the discussion is enough for the prosecution to rest its case. I hereby sentence you to a prolonged period in your playpen.

Normally yes but Grimsby v Vale a couple of years back this did happen, Vale fans wound up at what had happened in the game piled out of the away end attacking anybody leaving the Lower Smiths and a lot of fans not looking for a fight got caught up in it, all sorted pretty quickly like and nothing too major but it can sometime happen like that.

And here's the proof -

edit - found this one as well. It's been some time since I saw all 10 outfield players on the goal line defending an indirect freekick in the box.

Ah yeah ive seen the cctv clips  but luckily i missed that game.

Not sure about that, this is exactly the situation tranmere and us vale fans are on about. some away fans wanting trouble, some home fans happily obliged. There's no chance that vale fans were just attacking any old grimsby fan, any more than grimsby were attacking our genuine fans. I get that it was in and immediately surrounding the stadium, but it's not like families and old biddies had to windmill their way out of trouble is it?

It was well known that there would be trouble at that game by the way. I knew weeks in advance that a lot of the vale 'old boys' that don't go the games any more had picked that fixture out. I'm pretty sure the equivalent grimsby fans would have known too.

I'm not exactly close to any of the trouble makers but it was one of them friend of a friend scenarios where i was told it would be kicking off, i just didn't expect it inside the ground.

The stadium safety officer knew too, he just chose to ignore it to save policing costs.

A sign that money above common sense runs right through our club.
