Won 3-2 v Hibs.

Scored some good goals and looked promising in attack.

Vata seems to be a very useful player and Baah sharp up front.

Couple of poor ones given away - Porteous obviously wanted to give his old side a goal!

Some of the more likely regular first teamers didn't play - rested or either being potentially sold (Hoedt/Apsrilla)

Really we need more experience in attack and cover in defence - but not expecting much.

We got well and truly spanked by Chesterfield 4-0 who looked excellent and a class above in fairness.

I'd definitely be excited about the season in their shoes, whereas it highlights the importance of getting 5-6 more players through the door and shedding some of the dead weight in the process for us.

We've had a reet shit pre-season, playing the same dogshit system we've had for the last two years and barely mustering a shot. I'm amazed he's still here after our finish to last season.

2-2 draw with Dundee United. Didn’t watch it, and you can’t take too much from preseason I guess but seems we are being a bit more possession based at the moment and that’s coming with a few issues whilst we transition to it and away from the more direct style.

Honestly not sure how I feel about that given we had extreme success being quite direct and aggressive. Will have to see for myself next week against Celta Vigo

Still looking a bit thin at centre half and centre midfield although with the latter Baptiste & Clark are a decent starting 2 at least

Followed it up with a 2-1 loss to Shrewsbury.

It’s only preseason, right?

Beat Fiorentina 2-1 yesterday, actually an entertaining game. Lindsay & Keane on the scoresheet, Woodman saved a pen.

I watched on a stream, I don't attend friendlies. Just clarifying that.

Playing Port Vale tonight. It’s an academy side mainly although Woodrow, Taylor & Townsend are starting (no McAtee again)

Could mean they are on the way out (as why would they be playing with the academy lads) or mean absolutely nothing at all

Wesley Hoedt started his first game after some transfer speculation at Wycombe .

Great we think but now gone off injured with a serious looking knee injury .

Losing 2-1 as well.

Yep. Noah Mawene is a second year pro now, made 7 appearances last season, and his younger brother Theo is still a scholar but will no doubt be offered pro terms.

Beat Salford 2-0. Brady & Osmajic.

We've just lost 4-3 to Barnsley in our penultimate friendly, despite the result I was fairly happy with aspects of the performance.

We were playing well for the first 60 minutes, before making 8 changes and changing the system and then got ourselves infront again 3-2 before Blackett Taylor went off injured and we finished the last 20 minutes with 10 men - which unfortunately for some of the younger lads coming on led to a fairly unprofessional finish on the whole.

Despite the positives, it's now three losses on the bounce which is obviously not ideal and all of the games have been disruptive in terms of players playing out of position and wholesale changes - all to just get minutes in legs.

I hope that we can use the game on Saturday to actually get a marker ahead of the new season.

Luton have their last friendly against Celta de Vigo tomorrow afternoon.

Many players who were injured in the second half of last season haven't got any minutes at all in pre-season. Desperately hoping maybe Jacob Brown at least can get some gametime ahead of the season opener. I hope some of them are just being managed. Not a good sign ahead of a 48+ game season coming up.

Suspect we'll play close(ish) to the starting XI next weekend.

Yep major players haven’t featured at all. Particularly worried about midfield and Nakamba, that injury has dragged on and on, there was an open training session toward the end of last season and he “looked” fine not on crutches etc, did a bit of light work on the bike so it’s pretty surprising he still isn’t around it months later. Bit worried that indicates it’s a very severe injury that’s causing issues.

Even when these players come back it’s going to take time to get any kind of sharpness back.

Lost 3-1 to Celta Vigo.

We looked quite good with the ball, especially second half where i felt pre the subs, we were the more likely to go and win it. Baptiste i thought looked really good with the ball and set up the equaliser with a good cross, but honeslty defensivley we look way below where it needs to be.

Started with one centre half in Mengi who went off injured, Johnson i really wouldnt be comfortable with him going into the season as a starting LCB, he doesnt seem to have much defensive instinct at all & Holmes looked a bit shaky too.

Need some reinforcement through the centre of the pitch.

1-1 v Brentford

Not a bad performance against a decent side but really do need some extra quality up front and in defence.

Luton now have six defenders on the treatment table. Mengi is going for a scan tomorrow, caused by a Celta player trying to stop a quick free kick and give him a dead leg. Disgraceful in a friendly. We also have Burke (who never seems to be fit for an extended period of time), Bell, Andersen (still), Hashioka and of course Lockyer out.

We really really need to sign a defender asap. And now we’re rushing around for one.

A good end to our preseason with a good win against Real Valladolid. A much needed one after a very disruptive preseason schedule so far. Dajaune Brown got himself 45 minutes too and looks like he will at least get an opportunity between now and the end of the transfer window to prove himself a viable option.

Main takeaway is that it’s very obvious that Kenzo Goudmijn and David Ozoh have a significant level of potential which could be exciting to see develop over the season. Given the striker market at this level, Jerry Yates is a superb find too. No idea what happened in Swansea but can see why he had a great record of goals and assists at Blackpool and was their POTY twice in three years. On the whole, recruitment looks like it’s been very good - even Kayden Jackson who might not be the most refined footballer on earth, does put players on their back foot and stretch things. He’s a relentless runner. I can see why Ipswich used him in a supporting role last season.

Another miserable pre season match. Losing 2-0 away to Charlton. Hopefully we are saving ourselves for the league campaign as all of our matches against league opposition have been very poor. Doesn't help we have a few injuries and Yengi has been the only really number 9 available

Capped off pre-season by losing 3-0 to Everton at home. Great stuff.
